The team at Dynamic Strategies have built an app called Cardano Beam that lets Event organizers run events on the Cardano blockchain and payout prizes to participants based on their achieving some goals.

The team tested this out in a self-organized event where they cycled from Lisbon (the capital of Portugal) to the southern part of Portugal - just over 200km in total. This common route is taken by semi-pro and pro cyclists annually in the summer. The ride produced a lot of media content that was then shared on social media platforms.

It generated enough interest in the media for the app to be called out in a large local newspaper and shone a light on what new tech Dynamic Strategies is developed in Portugal on the Cardano blockchain

We propose another event with a similar route, with larger participation and attract local talent to take part.

We have a working relationship with one of the largest sport event organizers in the country (Xistarca https://xistarca.pt/), who have agreed to assist with the logistics for the larger event.

We are in touch with the local cycling community through a local pro triathlete who participated in last year's event and will create a buzz across his community for this year.

[IMPACT] How does your proposed solution address the challenge and what benefits will this bring to the Cardano ecosystem?

This is a community event that aims to bring users into the Cardano ecosystem and showcase Cardano’s capabilities to solve real-world problems

We are aiming to attract 50 riders. Each one will have the option to purchase the event cycling jersey with Cardano written across it, which they will wear throughout the event. 

This is a good branding opportunity and we will engage with colleagues from the Cardano Foundation to support our initiative with additional memorabilia and banners.

The event will be organized by Xistarca, who also organises the Lisbon half marathon with thousands of participants. This event will showcase to their partners the advantages of using a blockchain solution like Cardano Beam to help them organise events.

The event is open to the community, and riders of all capabilities are welcome as long as they can demonstrate that they can ride the distance based on previous training logs.

This is a stand-alone idea.

The event will be open-source as much as an IRL event can be open-sourced. It will be open to all participants who can register on the Cardano Beam Event page https://cardanobeam.app/events , and the event will be tracked live on the Cardano Beam Web app for the community to follow the progress of their favourite riders: https://cardanobeam.app/web

The proposal does not fit into any other challenge as it does not build an app, it does not build dev tools or do anything with Atala Prism, NMKR, dReps or DAOs. This event showcases the Cardano ecosystem to businesses to grow the ADA economy with many branding opportunities; therefore, the only available challenge for it is in this Open challenge.

[IMPACT] How do you intend to measure the success of your project?

We will consider the project a success if, in the end, we conclude the bike tour and hit the following targets:

• At least half of the participants finish the tour;

• 50+ participants attend the ride;

• Cardano banners at the start and finish line and branding on the water stops along the route;

• Media coverage of the event.

[IMPACT] Please describe your plans to share the outputs and results of your project?

The event will be posted on the Cardano Beam events page https://cardanobeam.app/events and NFTs will be put up for sale that grant participants access to the event. The participants will also be able to collect prizes along the route whilst holding these NFTs on their mobile device.

[CAPABILITY/ FEASIBILITY] What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability?

The event will be delivered by teams from three public organizations:

• Dynamic Strategies https://dynamicstrategies.io/ , who built and maintain the Cardano Beam app. Team members will participate in the tour and be present throughout the race to assist participants with any technical questions;

• Powerlab https://www.powerlab.pt/ , a Human performance laboratory headed by Tiago Encarnacao, who is also a local triathlete, will participate in the tour and be on hand to assist with bike set-ups ahead of the event and advise the organizer on the progress of the event;

• Xistarca https://xistarca.pt/ , is an event-organizing company that organizes the Lisbon half marathon and tens of races throughout the year will be responsible for the logistics of the water stations and the support vehicle.

The event will be transmitted live on the Cardano Beam platform at https://cardanobeam.app/web for everyone to follow online and drop additional prizes for participants to collect.

A similar event with 6 participants was run in October 2022 successfully. The route has been tested and works well for an intermediate cyclist.

[CAPABILITY/ FEASIBILITY] What are the main goals for the project and how will you validate if your approach is feasible?

The event's goal is to promote using Cardano for managing the logistics of outdoor events such as bike races and any other that requires a finish line and/or checkpoints.

We want to show that it is possible to run a large-scale event and manage the logistics for participants for a fraction of the cost compared to traditional methods.

Adoption of this technology will grow the ADA economy from new users and new businesses.

The event will start to be planned as soon as funding is complete with the intention to run the event in 3 months - this allows plenty of time for participants to add this to their calendar and book flights and accommodation.

Completing the event will mark the completion of the project.

• The event is completed and at least half of those who left Lisbnon made it to the finish line in Algarve;
• Video and images from the event are used to create an appealing video report of the event that is shared with the Cardano community and media outlets

[RESOURCES & VALUE FOR MONEY] How does the cost of the project represent value for money for the Cardano ecosystem?

The project will onboard new businesses and users into Cardano. Every new platform user gets a Cardano wallet that they can use with other Cardano apps.

The largest benefit is showcasing Cardano as a blockchain platform on which an app can be built that solves real-world use cases. Since the last bull market, blockchains and crypto have gained a reputation for peddling scams and worthless tokens. This is an opportunity to demonstrate that blockchains can be used in logistics and events.

We will demonstrate that the cost of organizing large events can be reduced by up to 10x by using a blockchain to administer the event.
