The Goal Mechanism
by Teal Titan
The Goal Mechanism is a tool that is used to help users realize and achieve goals, holding them accountable by way of incentivized compliance to listed affirmations of their goals.
How does the Goal Mechanism work?
The Goal Mechanism works by having the user list 3 goals, 3 times per day. If the user completes the task of listing 3 goals 3 times, they will be rewarded a GOAL token. The GOAL token can then be exchanged for (cryptocurrency, access, NFTs, rewards). Each goal must be listed at least 2 hours apart, and the first and last goal must be listed at least 6 hours apart.
Who should use the Goal Mechanism?
The Goal Mechanism is designed for everyone. Any individual or organization that is seeking to optimize their lives and empower themselves should use it.
Why use the Goal Mechanism?
A goal is very similar to a want or desire, and most people do not end up achieving their goals. Without the proper accountability it becomes easy for an individual to lose focus on realizing their goals as time progresses. The Goal Mechanism makes users affirm goals to themselves 3 times daily to help keep them on the right track toward success, while simultaneously rewarding them for listing their goals.
Where can the Goal Mechanism be used?
The Goal Mechanism can be used by anyone, anywhere in the world as long as they have access to a computer or smartphone. It can be used by:
Individuals
Small Groups or Teams
Large Groups
Corporate and Business Settings
Schools
Clinical Settings
Governments
Global Entities
Why is it important to use the Goal Mechanism now?
At this moment in time, the human attention span is on the decline. There are endless distractions in a human's day-to-day life that may limit them from achieving the goals they set out to accomplish. Humans are dealing with depression and a lack of purpose on a massive scale. Many of the systems that the world has grown accustomed to over the last century are beginning to change, and there is a need for humans to develop adaptability to find success amidst a changing environment. With the incentives and accountability that the Goal Mechanism provides the user, they will find it easier to realize and achieve their goals through affirmations while simultaneously developing a stronger sense of purpose by accomplishing their goals along the way.
What is the importance of writing down goals 3 times per day?
Writing down a goal 1x represents a moment in time where the user is aware of their goals and is affirming to themselves that their goals are something they will accomplish. If an individual writes down their goals one time, it is still better than one simply thinking about their goals to themself. The extra time one takes to stop and write down their goals is important.
Writing down a goal 2x represents a defined period of time where the user is aware of their goals and is affirming to themselves that their goals are something they will accomplish. The length of the defined period of time is measured by two endpoints- one being the first time the user writes their goals, and the other being the second time the user writes their goals. By a user writing down their goals twice in a day, they are developing more discipline and dedication to their goals by taking time out of their day to list their affirmations. This naturally creates a higher likelihood of demonstrating proper behaviors that coordinate with their goals. It is important to note that there is still much uncertainty of the users' thoughts and actions in the length of time between the two checkpoints.
Writing down a goal 3x represents a defined period of time where the user is aware of their goals and is affirming to themselves that their goals are something they will accomplish, while also committing an act of assurance toward their goals at a moment in time within the boundaries of the two endpoints. This is a crucial point, as it harmonizes the affirmed goals of both endpoints. This point of recognition and affirmation will increase the prospect of the user holding themself accountable to their goals as they have now likely written their goals down in multiple settings/environments. Since there is uncertainty as to what actions are being taken between the first and last goal affirmations of the day, this middle checkpoint is important for the user to recognize that they are still making proper decisions that correlate with their goals.
What are some of the benefits of using the Goal Mechanism compared to other accountability mechanisms?
There is currently no accountability mechanism that exists with incentivized compliance to an individual or groups goals. There is no human accountability mechanism being used to help a user achieve their goals, period. The user will not only experience a stronger attachment to their goals by using the Goal Mechanism as opposed to not using it, but there are many other benefits that come along with it, depending on the user.
Understanding the Dynamics of Compliance
In order to understand the dynamics of compliance, we will look at it both interpersonally as well as intrapersonally.
In an interpersonal environment, there are many dynamic factors such as: requests vs demands, incentivized vs unincentivized compliance, and the perception of consequence for failure to comply to a given request or demand.
In an intrapersonal environment, the individual is seeking their own compliance to goals or tasks that they want to achieve. There is no request or demand to respond to, but some dynamic factors in the intrapersonal compliance spectrum are: incentivized vs unincentivized compliance and the individual's perception of consequence for failure to comply to a given request or demand.
Dynamics of Interpersonal Incentivized Compliance
Forced Compliance with Consequence- This is the most likely form of interpersonal compliance for an individual to comply with. In this case, the individual is being forced to comply with a demand, and there is a severe consequence to the individual if they do not comply with the demand given to them. Assuming that all humans have free will, this would usually be a situation in which the demander is obstructing the individual's free will by means of invoking fear, harm, or physical pain upon the individual in order for the individual to comply with the demand given.
Demanded Incentivized Compliance with Consequence- a demand is being given to an individual with an incentive attached to the compliance of the demand, and the individual is aware that there is a consequence for failing to comply with the demand given.
Requested Incentivized Compliance with Consequence- a request is being given to an individual with an incentive attached to the compliance of the request, and the individual is aware that there is a consequence for failing to comply with the request given.
Requested Incentivized Compliance with no Perceived Consequence- a request is being given to an individual with an incentive attached to the compliance of the request, and the individual does not perceive a consequence for failing to comply with the request given.
Demanded Incentivized Compliance with no Perceived Consequence- a demand is being given to an individual with an incentive attached to the compliance of the demand, and the individual does not perceive a consequence for failing to comply with the demand given.
Demanded Unincentivized Compliance with Consequence- a demand is being given to an individual without an incentive attached to the compliance of the demand, and the individual is aware that there is a consequence for failing to comply with the demand given.
Requested Unincentivized Compliance with Consequence- a request is being given to an individual without an incentive attached to the compliance of the request, and the individual is aware that there is a consequence for failing to comply with the request given.
Demanded Unincentivized Compliance with no Perceived Consequence- a demand is being given to an individual without an incentive attached to the compliance of the demand, and the individual does not perceive a consequence for failing to comply with the demand given.
Requested Unincentivized Compliance with no Perceived Consequence- a request is being given to an individual without an incentive attached to the compliance of the request, and the individual does not perceive a consequence for failing to comply with the request given.
Unenforced Compliance with no Perceived Consequence- This is the least likely form of compliance for an individual to comply with. In this case, the individual recognizes that they have free will to act, and there are laws of nature to comply with. In this case, an individual fails to comply with natural law and they do not perceive a consequence for failing to comply with natural order. An individual with free will may fail to comply with the laws of nature because they may tend to act in a way that suits their personal needs or desires.
Diving Deeper into Interpersonal Compliance
There are many dynamic factors that are considered when examining the dynamics of interpersonal compliance. Here, we will look deeper into these dynamic factors to get a better understanding of where and how the Goal Mechanism fits into the compliance spectrum.
What is the medium in which the request or demand is being received by the individual?
The medium in which the request or demand is being received by the individual may factor into their willingness to comply with the request or demand. Is the request or demand coming directly from the requester/demander, or is it being recieved through an indirect source- whether human, scribe, or electronic medium?
Direct presentation of the request or demand by the requester/demander may yield the highest probability of compliance. Although an individual may show signs of commitment to a task or goal, asking the individual indirectly can leave room for both deflection and distraction. The level of deflection or distraction needs to be examined on more of a case-by-case basis, as when presenting a request or demand indirectly the human attention span must be taken into consideration. We will assume that all requests and demands are given in a fair environment; an environment where all dynamic factors hold equal value to all individuals within it. An individual will tend to respond more positively to a request or demand being given to them if there is an incentive attached when the request is being received through an indirect medium. The prospect of an incentive can help limit the level of deflection and distraction in an individual being requested/demanded, without direct accountability from the requester/demander to the compliance of the request or demand by the individual. The Goal Mechanism will help users maintain accountability, and the requester/demander can be ensured of the progress being taken to comply with the request or demand. By incentivizing the user to affirm their goals or tasks 3 times daily, the level of focus will increase and it will limit the ability to become distracted from the task or goal.
What is the Severity of Consequence?
It is important to first understand that every time an individual chooses to comply or not comply with a request or demand given, there will always be a consequence. The consequence may not always be perceived by the individual at the time of their decision to comply. Consequences can vary from minor to severe. Typically, the more severe the consequence, the higher chance of an individual complying with the request or demand given. If the individual perceives no consequence to a request or demand given to them, they are more likely to act freely. As the severity of consequence increases, the individual is less likely to act freely and more likely to comply with a given request or demand. If an individual feels that they can act freely with no perceived consequence, they are less likely to complete an uncomfortable task or goal unless incentivized.
In terms of consequence, it is also important to note that the same consequence may not affect one individual in the same way that it may affect another individual. Depending on an individual's predispositions prior to the request or demand being given to them, each individual is likely to have a different threshold to consequence. Assuming all individuals in a controlled environment are given the same consequence for failing to comply with a request or demand, we can deduce that the same consequence will have a different impact on an individual-to-individual basis.
If we assume that we are in a fair environment where all consequences hold an equal value to each individual, all individuals failing to comply with a request or demand are given a consequence with equal severity. An individual will respond differently to a request or demand given with a severe consequence as opposed to one given with minor or no perceived consequence.
An individual that is given an incentivized request or demand with a consequence attached is more likely to act on the request or demand with urgency than if they were given a request or demand with no perceived consequence. An individual also has a higher likelihood of responding to an incentivized request or demand with no perceived consequence than an unincentivized request or demand with no perceived consequence. Comparing two situations with the same severity of consequence, we can deduce that the individual will respond more positively to a request or demand given with an incentive attached than a request or demand without an incentive attached.
The idea that an individual is more likely to respond positively to incentivized requests or demands than to unincentivized requests or demands with the same perceived severity of consequence allows the Goal Mechanism to produce a higher chance of compliance in an interpersonal setting, as it incentivizes users. This can also make it an extremely powerful tool in situations where the requester/demander has a level of power, authority, or influence over an individual.
What is the Perception of Consequence?
Is there certainty of a consequence for failure to comply with a request or demand? If there is certainty of a consequence, the individual may tend to prioritize compliance to the given request or demand.
An individual may also be uncertain of any consequences attached to compliance with the given request or demand. If an individual is uncertain, they can perceive a more severe consequence or no consequence at all. An individual that is perceiving a more severe consequence for failing to comply with a request or demand is more likely to comply than an individual perceiving no consequence at all.
It is important to understand that each individual may respond to authority differently and there are varying levels of power, authority, and influence that a requester/demander has over each individual. In a closed or controlled environment, having no clarity of consequence may cause individuals to spread false information, impacting leadership. When giving a request or demand- clarity on the request or demand given, incentives, and the severity of consequence for failed compliance are all important for a requester/demander to provide to the individual being requested or demanded.
What is the Individual's Predisposed Level of Defiance?
An individual with a higher level of empathy or wisdom may tend to understand the implied consequences for failing to comply with a request or demand much easier than an individual with a lower level of empathy or wisdom. It can also be recognized that an individual with a higher level of empathy or wisdom may also tend to increase the implied severity of consequence internally- resulting in the individual acting with more urgent compliance to a request or demand. An individual with a higher level of empathy or wisdom may also tend to have a higher level of defiance based on their value of the individual demanding or requesting compliance from them. It would be fair to deduce that the level of an individual's empathy or wisdom would have a strong correlation with the individuals perception of consequence, as well as willingness to comply to a request or demand.
It is important to know who is requesting or demanding the individual to comply to their request or demand. Does the requester/demander have any type of power, authority, or influence over the individual? The more power, authority, or influence that the requester/demander has over the individual, the higher the chances of the individual complying to a request or demand from the requester/demander. If a requester/demander lacks power, authority, or influence over an individual, then it is less likely for an individual to comply with the request or demand given by the requester/demander. The ability for a requester/demander to obtain compliance to a request or demand from an individual may be the result of respect, confidence in requester/demander's leadership, similar values, and loyalty.
Some individuals may also have a higher level of defiance based on preconceived thoughts and previous experiences of similar nature. This predisposition may come prior to their relationship with the current requester/demander. An individual with a higher level of defiance will be less likely to comply with a request or demand without an incentive attached. As the requester/demander gains power, authority, or influence over the individual, the individual will have less defiance to the requests/demands being given to them by the requester/demander.
Another thing to consider when a requester/demander gives a request or demand to an individual is that there may be a higher chance of compliance from an individual with a higher level of defiance if the task or goal is given in the form of a request rather than a demand. The higher level of defiance that an individual has, the greater chance of them viewing a demand with discountenance. As the individual becomes less defiant and authority, power, or influence is gained from the requester/demander- the individual will have a greater chance of responding to a demand with compliance.
The Goal Mechanism is a great tool for a leader to use when leading a group or team because it can help them gain influence toward individual compliance with their requests or demands through incentivizing the compliance they seek. If a group has a preconceived lack of confidence and loyalty to the leader, incentivizing compliance to tasks or goals that need achieved can help the leader gain influence as the individuals are being rewarded for their compliance. This could slowly help build confidence in the relationship between the leader and individual while simultaneously helping optimize small group or team productivity.
What type of Influence does the Incentive to Comply hold on the Individual being given a request or demand?
The incentive being given to the individual for compliance with a request or demand may carry different weight depending on an individual-to-individual basis. Assume that every individual in a controlled group has the same level of defiance toward the requester/demander, will receive the same consequence for failing to comply with the demand or request given, and they will receive the same incentive for compliance to a request or demand. The greater the value that the incentive holds to the individual being requested or demanded, the higher chance of individual compliance to the request or demand. The less the individual values the attached incentive for compliance to a request or demand, the less likely that the incentive will carry weight in them complying to a given request or demand. If a demander/requester properly incentivizes the individual in which they are requesting or demanding compliance from, there is an extremely high likelihood that the individual will comply with the request or demand given to them regardless of perceived consequence.
Varying Levels of Difficulty
The same request or demand will carry varying levels of difficulty to complete for each individual in a a given environment. Most humans have different sets of skills in which they are better or worse at than other individuals. Assuming all individuals in a given group are given the exact same request or demand, it will be easier for those individuals to comply who have already adapted the proper skillsets for the task or goal at hand. These individuals are likely to complete the task or goal with less difficulty than other individuals that lack the proper skillsets.
An individual that lacks the proper skillsets to complete the same task as efficiently as an individual with the proper skillsets can use the requested/demanded task as an opportunity to improve on their skillsets and show willingness to improve to the requester/demander as well as other peers within the given environment. Those with a higher skillset may find it a better use of time to help their peers who they notice a willingness to improve in, as the individual showing willingness to improve will typically be more receptive to their insight.
An individual that is aware that they possess a higher skillset in correlation to the compliance of a given request/demand may have a greater probability of complying to an incentivized request or demand as opposed to an unincentivized request or demand, as the individual may hold value to the unique skillset they have.
Dynamics of Intrapersonal Incentivized Compliance
Incentivized Compliance with Consequence- an incentive is given to an individual to comply with a personal task or goal, and the individual is aware that there is a consequence for failure to comply with their personal task or goal.
Incentivized Compliance with no Perceived Consequence- an incentive is given to an individual to comply with a personal task or goal, and the individual does not perceive a consequence for failure to comply with their personal task or goal.
Unincentivized Compliance with Consequence- there is no incentive given to an individual to comply with a personal task or goal, and the individual is aware that there is a consequence for failure to comply with their personal task or goal.
Unincentivized Compliance with no Perceived Consequence- there is no incentive given to an individual to comply with a personal task or goal, and the individual does not perceive a consequence for failure to comply with their personal task or goal.
Diving Deeper into Intrapersonal Compliance
There are a few dynamic factors to consider when understanding intrapersonal compliance to an individual's goals. Some of the factors may include the individual's attitude, attention span, external environment, incentives to comply with goals, and the individual's perceived severity of consequence for not achieving their goals.
Individual's Attitude
How high does the individual value compliance to their goals internally? An individual that has a high value of the achievement of their goals will have a greater probability of achieving them. If an individual has a low value of the achievement of their goals, then there is a lower probability in the individual achieving their goals.
An individual that maintains a more positive attitude has a greater probability of continuing through challenges that may arise on the path to achieving their goals. Having a negative attitude may result in one failing to comply with their goal once an obstruction is forseen in the trajectory of their path toward the goal.
It is important for the individual to set smart, realistic, and achievable micro-goals in order to achieve their large goal. By achieving smaller goals, the individual is accomplishing small moments of achievement along the way to their larger goal, and simultaneously keeping themself empowered. This is especially important as the level of risk involved in achieving a goal for an individual increases. As the level of risk and difficulty increases for the individual to achieve their goal, it is especially important for the individual to have many positive experiences along the way. The Goal Mechanism allows users to hold themselves accountable to small goals, while affirming their larger goal at the same time. This process allows the individual to maintain focus on the larger scope of their goal because they are gaining small victories in achieving smaller goals that correspond to their larger goal.
The level of difficulty perceived by the individual to comply with their goal will be greatly correlated to the experience that they have in achieving their smaller goals along the way. If an individual sets a high-risk or difficult goal, they are more likely to fail or give up after a negative experience in the beginning stages of their journey. If some of the individuals' first experiences include gratification, empowerment, and success, then the individual is more likely to maintain a positive outlook toward their goal moving forward.
The daily affirmations that the individual gives themself with the Goal Mechanism will help bring a more positive and motivated outlook to the individual. The Goal Mechanism also helps the user manage their smaller goals along the way while incentivizing them with a GOAL token for their daily affirmations. If used properly along with smart goal-setting, the Goal Mechanism will provide positivity, empowerment, and focus to the individual along every step of the journey to their goals.
Level of Motivation
Each individual trying to realize and achieve their goals will have a varying level of motivation. An individual with less motivation may not value consequences or incentives. An individual with higher motivation will value consequences and incentives more.
If an individual lacks motivation, having an attached incentive for compliance to their goals may help increase motivation levels. Accomplishing seemingly small goals and making minor strides will help increase the individuals motivation to comply with their goals. Since an individual is more likely to respond positively to compliance with an incentive attached as opposed to compliance without an incentive attached, the Goal Mechanism may be used in cases to increase an individuals motivation. The Goal Mechanism can also help an individual with little motivation find direction and growth in empowering the individual with affirmations to their small goals and hoping to eventually achieve something greater.
Recognizing the Human Attention Span
Attention is notice taken of someone or something or the regarding of someone or something as important. Attention span is defined as the length of time for which a person is able to concentrate mentally on a particular activity before becoming distracted.
The attention span of the average human is becoming increasingly shorter as external stimulants have improved their gateway into the human mind. This creates a need for an accountability tool in order to help the individual remain compliant to the goals they set out to achieve.
Distractibility is the quality or state of being distracted. Distractibility occurs when attention is uncontrollably diverted to another activity or sensation. One of the main use cases of the Goal Mechanism is to help limit distractibility, as users are given a higher level of accountability by needing to affirm their goals 3 times daily in order to receive a GOAL token.
The increase in stimulants in an individuals external environment has increased human distractibility, which has shortened the human attention span. If an individuals attention span is shortened, then the ability for the individual to achieve long term goals will decrease. This is true because the probability that they will be receptive to distractions will increase, making the individual decrease focus on their goal.
Increasing the attention span is a crisis that needs to be addressed. The Goal Mechanism will help narrow focus and increase productivity toward goal achievement by holding the individual accountable to their goal affirmations. The unique structure of the Goal Mechanism will ensure that users are constantly being empowered for their actions toward realization of their goals. As an individual feels more empowered, they will understand their ability to keep progressing toward their goal. When a goal and the ability to achieve it are desired highly, then the individual will tend to be able to limit distractions with proper accountability as the individuals' desire will overcome distraction.
External Environment
The external environment of an individual is extremely important in the realization and achievement of their goals. An individual can be influenced on varying levels by their external environment and the individuals in which they interact with in their external environment. It is important for the individual to have enough self-awareness to recognize if their external environment is conducive to achieving their goals.
Intrapersonal Incentivized Compliance vs. Unincentivized Compliance
It should be understood that an individual's natural inclinations are almost always acted upon in hope to seek an incentive for themselves. This means that an individual will almost always act in a way that they expect an incentive, or they will have an extremely low probability of compliance. An incentive could be whatever achieving a task or goal may reward the individual, both internally or externally- with its accomplishment. Understand that almost all individuals will act in their own self-interest. Since almost all actions are done in an individual's own self-interest, it is fair to recognize that there is always a perceived incentive attached to every action by an individual.
The internally realized incentives that the individual creates for completion of their goal will always exist and remain incentives for the goal's completion. Over time, the internally realized incentives may become a stronger contributor to goal realization, and other incentives may be realized that correspond to the completion of the goal along the way. When an individual desires to accomplish a personal goal, then most, if not all incentives- are internally conceived.
Since the Goal Mechanism helps incentivize compliance to the individual affirming their goals to themselves with a GOAL token, it not only can empower the individual and increase the probability of goal completion, but it automatically is giving the user extra value that they could not incentivize themselves with by providing the GOAL token. The ability to exchange the GOAL token for (cryptocurrency, access, NFTs, rewards) can help the user gain tangible results to complying with their goal affirmations.
Intrapersonal Perceived Severity of Consequence
If an individual realizes a consequence to be true for failing to comply with their goals, and that consequence exceeds a threshold of severity beyond what the individual is willing to tolerate, then the individual has a higher probability of compliance to their goals. If an individual does not perceive a consequence for failing to comply with their goals and simultaneously lacks accountability to comply with their goals, there is a lower probability of compliance to their goals. The higher the severity of consequence, the higher probability of compliance to an individual's goals.
In cases where the individual does not perceive a severe consequence for failing to comply with their goals, and the individual is seeking to build on their foundation and not reconstitute, the Goal Mechanism can be an extraordinary tool to properly manage goals and maintain accountability to them. Contrarily, the individual seeking reformation or reconditioning will find the proper accountability and guidance in forming small goals to help their process with the Goal Mechanism. The Goal Mechanism has an excellent use case for every individual seeking change for themselves.
Intrapersonal Incentives and Consequences
Is the individual attempting to comply with the goal because they recognize a grand incentive, or are they attempting to comply with the goal because they fear a severe consequence?
An individual attempting to comply with a goal for a grand incentive may begin their journey with a higher level of motivation than an individual that recognizes a basic incentive for the achievement of their goals. A grand incentive may be the reward for achieving a more difficult goal, and a difficult goal often requires completion of many small goals along the way. Even with a grand incentive recognized by the individual attempting to achieve their goal, it is important to maintain accountability to smaller goals as well as keep the larger goal in view of the individual. The Goal Mechanism combines the accountability and recognition needed for the user seeking to empower themselves with a difficult goal, no matter the scale of the incentive for achievement perceived by the individual.
An individual that is attempting to comply with a self-prescribed goal because they fear a severe consequence may begin their journey with a higher level of uncertainty and doubt. If an individual must comply with a goal out of fear of a severe consequence, it is possibly because the individual has behaved in a way that is an inverse of their current goal for a period of time long enough for them to gain recognition on the circumstance they are in, and the individual recognizes the severity of consequence and need for action by prescribing and achieving a goal. This individual will need to put themselves through a great deal of discomfort, and the Goal Mechanism will be there for them to help affirm their goals to themselves- as well as provide the structure that they need in overcoming obstacles along the way. By the individual being incentivized with a GOAL token, they will be able to use those GOAL tokens they accumulate to (exchange for cryptocurrency, gain access, buy NFTs, use for other rewards). The GOAL token is an added incentive that is given to the individual that will be used to put them in a more empowered place to continue their journey.
We must gain understanding on whether an individual is seeking compliance to their intrapersonal goals because of fear of severe consequence, or the prospect of grand incentives for compliance. Whether the individual is trying to find a solution and recover from a difficult situation, or they need guidance on accomplishing a large goal with grand incentives attached, the Goal Mechanism is a tool that can be with the user at all times to affirm what needs to be accomplished to find successful compliance with their goals.
Conclusion on the Dynamics of Compliance and Understanding where the Goal Mechanism fits into the Compliance Spectrum
After expounding on some of the interpersonal and intrapersonal dynamics of compliance, we can conclude that all compliance scenarios will have varying levels of dynamic factors which cause an individual to either comply, or fail to comply with a request, demand, or personal goal. In almost every scenario, we can understand how the Goal Mechanism will contribute toward a greater probability of an individual achieving their goals through it's use of incentivized compliance to affirming goals 3 times daily. By rewarding a GOAL token if and only if the goals are affirmed 3 times daily, it will act as an accountability mechanism for the individual to make smart decisions that will benefit their goals.
By understanding the dynamic factors that are involved in an individual complying with a request or demand, we know that adding the Goal Mechanism into an individual's daily routine will put them in a place of both higher accountability and increased incentives to comply with their goals through it's incentivization of a GOAL token. Not only is it the way that the GOAL Mechanism can begin to help change a humans behavior through daily positive affirmations of their goals, but the addition of higher accountability and incentive will allow the individual to have a greater outcome in their journey to achieving their goals.
The Goal Mechanism incentivizes the unincentivized while also adding accountability, often leading the individual to have a higher chance of achieving the goals they need to accomplish. We can assume that with the value the Goal Mechanism provides the user, it will move all compliance circumstances closer to a higher probability of compliance.
The Goal Forum
After an individual has accumulated 50 GOAL tokens, they will be able to (spend them on an NFT, exchange 50 GOAL tokens for membership) granting them exclusive access into the Goal Forum. The Goal Forum is a place for other motivated individuals to gather and support each other on their mission to achieve their goals.
The Goal Forum is another excellent tool that the Goal Mechanism user can use to give value to themselves. By having to affirm goals to themselves at least (44-50) days before joining, it shows that those using it already have a certain level of motivation, creating a more positive and productive environment to help the individual achieve success.
The average individual takes 2-3 months to break a habit, and they need to consistently maintain abstinence from their bad habit for roughly 2 years until their exercised behavior becomes perfunctory. The Goal Forum will allow other individuals who are trying to achieve similar goals to gather and confide in one another about obstacles and problems they are encountering on their journey, and gain support from others who may have overcome the same experience- as that individual can share what helped them move past the obstacle. The Goal Mechanism will be the user's personal accountability mechanism, while the Goal Forum will allow the user access to a personal anonymous support group.
For an additional 25 GOAL tokens, the user will be able to purchase various (NFTs, memberships) granting them access to more specific channels dedicated to their goals. If a user is consistently affirming goals with the Goal Mechanism from Day 1, it should take roughly 2.5 months for them to earn their access into exclusive channels. Now that the individual is likely seeing progress in their path to achieving longer term goals, it is a vital time for the individual to stay motivated as they can potentially become content with their results and fall back into the habits the individual is trying to change.
Imagine a fitness channel where access can be purchased for 25 GOAL, and there are health coaches, nutritionists, and trainers in the channel. They can help motivate individuals- while simultaneously gaining clientele for themselves. As the individual entering the exclusive channel will likely be interested in the services provided within, it will be an additional incentive to be able to use the GOAL token (or cryptocurrency exchanged with GOAL such as DISCO,ADA, etc.) to help pay for services needed. The Goal Forum will become a place for professionals that are looking to expand their services while helping to motivate and empower individuals.
Imagine an individual dealing with depression. The Goal Mechanism can help this individual accomplish small goals, leading to more fulfillment and a higher sense of purpose. To add to the value the user is given, they can be granted access to exclusive mental health channels where they can openly discuss what they are going through with professionals in the field who are trying to empower and give back to the community.
Imagine a parolee, being thrown back into the real world with no direction to go. The odds of finding success and stability are greatly stacked against them. Not only will the Goal Mechanism help this type of individual find focus- but envision an employment channel with employers seeking to give these individuals a chance. It is easy for an individual to declare they are trying hard to accomplish something, but it is hard to trust their word at face value. Statistics show that it may not be a good choice to hire a felon, but there are still individuals out there who are actually trying to make a change for themselves. A potential employer can look at an individual and see how many days they have taken time to affirm goals to themselves. If a felon is released, it is quite a statement to a potential employer when they can prove that they took the time out of their day X amount of days to affirm goals to themself. A parolee can speak through action with the demonstration of willingness to improve by using the Goal Mechanism. This will also potentially be able to mitigate risk on the side of the employer, as the individual they are hiring has a demonstrably apparent level of self-motivation.
Overall, the Goal Forum will be a place for individuals to communicate and help motivate one another to help achieve goals. It will help provide a supportive community to the individual that may not have a support system. The Goal Forum will have various professionals that are willing to help empower individuals in which they can help empower, while simultaneously helping the professional gain clientele. It will be a place for a professional to donate their time to help empower individuals actively seeking empowerment. The Goal Forum is a way to give back to those who will have a higher level of appreciation for the help. The Goal Forum will be used as the hub for any individual seeking to empower themselves and find motivation on their uncomfortable journey to success.
How can the Goal Mechanism be used in various settings?
Individual
In an individual setting, the Goal Mechanism can be used to help incentivize the unincentivized or underincentivized individual trying to achieve their goals, while simultaneously helping hold them accountable to their goals through daily affirmations of them. The Goal Mechanism is a powerful tool in helping the individual hoping to achieve goals to maintain focus, organize and prioritize time and actions, and increase self-awareness in order to succeed.
Small Team/Group
In a small team or group setting, the Goal Mechanism can be used for social productivity. Social productivity (in the context of this paper) is the idea of a group coming together, with each individual remaining accountable to their goals in order to help produce a result greater than a single individual can achieve within a given amount of time. In a group setting, the Goal Mechanism can help with task delegation, task management, and task completion.
Large Group
In a large group, the Goal Mechanism will act as a social productivity tool as well as an accountability mechanism. As the group size gets larger, it may become increasingly difficult to manage individual's actions from within the group. The Goal Mechanism will help the group stay on track, as each individual will be held accountable to goal affirmations in addition to the accountability provided within the large group.
Corporate
In a corporate setting, the Goal Mechanism can be used as a tool for accountability, additional incentivization and compliance to bounties outside of daily requirements, and a way to examine the value an individual gives in correlation to achieving certain tasks for the better of the business.
In a corporate setting, the leader will be able to purchase cryptocurrency, and the individuals that earn a GOAL token from within that corporation will be able to exchange their GOAL tokens for an equally proportioned amount of cryptocurrency after a certain amount of time.
Using the Goal Mechanism, incentives are given to all individuals within a corporate setting to affirm their goals to themselves. By influencing their employees to improve themselves and their skills related to their craft, a corporation will be raising the foundation for which their business runs.
In an example we can look at Corporation X. They have 50 employees and the net profit for Corporation X is 20,000,000 USD annually. The CEO decides to use the Goal Mechanism and purchases 400,000 USD worth of (X) cryptocurrency to put into the Goal Mechanism. This is 2% of the net profit of Corporation X. The employees now have an incentive to affirm their goals and tasks related to the business they work for to themselves, which will help increase productivity and extra activity. By the business strengthening their foundation, having employees learn and work together to learn new skills, and employees overall increasing their willingness to improve, the business now nets 22,000,000 USD. The business earned 10% more profit at a cost of only 2% of the prior year's net profit. This is just a hypothetical situation used to explain what the potential of implementing the Goal Mechanism into the corporate setting may bring to the business- but if a corporation can increase the skill level at the foundation, then there will be more value provided to the corporation by it's employees, often resulting in a higher level of efficiency and production.
Schools
By implementing the Goal Mechanism into the classroom, students will be able to learn the skills of what it takes to achieve goals, while simultaneously being rewarded a GOAL token that could be spent within the classroom's ecosystem. Students will learn proper management skills, organization, and self awareness as well as the skill of adhering to a list of tasks or goals at a younger age. List making and goal creation are two very important skills for an individual to learn at a young age that could help them grow into productive members of society.
Governments and Global Entities
When used by governments and global entities, the Goal Mechanism can help various nation states and global entities come together to solve problems that the world faces. Each entity can create short term goals that they want to accomplish from within their borders in order to help address the larger issue at hand. The use of social productivity amongst larger entities can help unite the ununited, while simultaneously improving global conditions for humankind.
Clinical Setting
The Goal Mechanism can be the perfect tool to complement the work of those in a clinical setting. A therapist, fitness coach, doctor, or other various form of life coach can "prescribe" goals for the user to affirm and accomplish as the professional's level of expertise sees fit for their client's situation. A probation officer can help a released inmate assimilate back into society with the help of setting smart goals. Since the Goal Mechanism works on a blockchain, it will be easy for those in a professional setting to ensure that the users are remaining compliant to their listed goal affirmations.
If the Goal Mechanism is implemented in a clinical setting, it will provide daily accountability to the patient as a clinician guides in the creation and actualization of goals while also helping their patient understand the process of what they are doing.
Furthering Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Adoption
The Goal Mechanism will be a crucial tool in the advancement of blockchain and cryptocurrency adoption. The individual will be able to exchange their earned GOAL tokens for (cryptocurrency). This allows individuals that may not have exposure to cryptocurrency to own some, and it gives the user a positive first experience interacting with cryptocurrency.
A major problem that exists in cryptocurrency is the amount of people that purchase it in order to make profit and they do not interact with the ecosystems that the various blockchains and cryptocurrencies have created an infrastructure to interact with. If all people do is buy and sell, it will be hard to create value within an ecosystem. By introducing a user into an ecosystem through a positive experience that continues to empower and give value to the individual as opposed to a first experience being on an exchange, the user is going to immediately be able to find more value in the given ecosystem than profit alone.
In a corporate setting, employees may be able to exchange their earned GOAL tokens for (cryptocurrency). This could help all employees within a given corporate ecosystem to gain exposure to cryptocurrency who otherwise would not have. Many CEOs are very excited about cryptocurrency adoption, and this will allow them to interact with cryptocurrency internally before they interact with the public. Although regulatory clarity on cryptocurrency is needed for many businesses to begin accepting cryptocurrency, it will be much less worrying to introduce cryptocurrency within the boundaries of their corporate ecosystem. Also, the Goal Mechanism could help introduce corporations to blockchain and cryptocurrency as they use a tool to help empower their employees and strengthen the foundation of their business.
The Goal Mechanism is a valuable tool that can change people's lives. It is a tool that immediately will provide value to it's users, whether they are interested in cryptocurrency or not. It empowers the individual first, and the cryptocurrency is an added reward. There will be individuals that become empowered that do not understand or own cryptocurrency, and having their first cryptocurrency experience through the Goal Mechanism will allow them to see the real value in what cryptocurrency and blockchain can bring to the world.
Helping those with Depression
The #1 goal that the Goal Mechanism can achieve is helping save a human life.
When dealing with depression, it needs to be understood that there are possibly extreme life events that the individual may be trying to deal with internally. An individual who is depressed can feel lost and hopeless, or as if there is nothing worth living for.
A depressed individual lacks purpose. They are usually stagnant and complacent. Some want to improve their situation, but their feelings of hopelessness and lack of self-worth do not allow them to do so.
Some people feel like they would be bothering other people if they reached out to them. They are afraid of therapy and revealing their true self to another person.
The Goal Mechanism can be their lifeline.
There is a power that comes along with affirming goals to oneself that can only be understood by the people who try it.
A depressed individual can use the Goal Mechanism to help create small tasks and goals for themselves to accomplish. Gaining fulfillment from executing small tasks and achieving small goals may help the individual realize a larger goal or purpose. The Goal Mechanism helps eliminate stagnation and complacency because it creates action.
As an individual continues to earn GOAL tokens through daily goal affirmations, they will continue to advance one step closer to accessing the Goal Forum, where they will find a support system of friends and professionals.
The Goal Mechanism will not only help an individual find empowerment when they need it most, but it can mentally help bring them to a place where they can seek out the help that they need.
If an individual feels like they have nothing left to lose, then trying the Goal Mechanism can be the tool that changes their life.

The 3 Main Goals of the Goal Mechanism
Entering the Behavioral Revolution
The Technological and Social Revolutions of the past 50 years have helped drive us into a new era, where human behavior has not caught up. Having an accountability tool that connects all those who want to succeed creates potential for extraordinary progress to be made. The Goal Mechanism will be the tool used to pivot humankind into the Behavioral Revolution.
How can this tool be used to solve the problems in blockchain governance?
"The Goal Mechanism" is designed to help humans create a positive change in their behavior, and it is my goal to test if incentivizing compliance through methods demonstrated in "The Goal Mechanism" will create more participation and a more robust input into community governance from members of the community.
PROPOSED SOLUTION
At this moment in time, the ideas hypothesized in "The Goal Mechanism" can be tested within the Neo Miami community through Neo Miami's disCatalyst fund, a microcosm of Catalyst, to determine whether incentivized compliance can help create a greater participation within the community. The ideas must be tested before asking for the funds to develop "The Goal Mechanism" into a working product.
All of the research and data found will be shared with the Cardano community.
There will be a paper written on The Dynamics of Incentivized Compliance in Blockchain Governance, which will incorporate the data that is found from the experimentation.
It is my strong belief that the behavioral changes that are created through the use of "The Goal Mechanism" will greatly advance the attitude and participation in blockchain governance.
"Many of the systems that the world has grown accustomed to are beginning to change, and there is a need for humans to develop adaptability to find success amidst a changing environment. With the incentives and accountability that the Goal Mechanism provides the user, they will find it easier to realize and achieve their goals through affirmations while simultaneously developing a stronger sense of purpose by accomplishing their goals along the way."
By funding this experimental phase of "The Goal Mechanism", the Cardano ecosystem will be able to greater understand how incentives can improve compliance to requests or demands being given to those participating in governance.
The data that is documented will provide Catalyst Fund and the greater Cardano community the insight on using an incentivized accountability mechanism to improve both participation in governance and various community bounties.
After the experimentation phase (current phase) and development is complete, this tool can be used to help any person in the world accomplish their goals. Creating a positive and uplifting experience will help build trust between the user and the blockchain that "The Goal Mechanism" is deployed on. This can be a great tool for Cardano to use to build trust within various global communities.
The disCatalyst fund exists in Neo Miami (the governance server of Disco Solaris) as a microcosm of the Catalyst Fund for Cardano.
Success during the experimentation phase will be determined by achieving a greater number of participants submitting proposals, voting, and engaging with the disCatalyst fund through utilization of methods described in "The Goal Mechanism".
The number of participants engaging in governance discussions can be tracked and documented as well as the number of proposals submitted and engagements on various proposals. Success can be measured through an increase in active and willing participants.
The experimentation of incentivized compliance within the boundaries of Neo Miami will be used to share results with Catalyst and the greater Cardano community.
A successful project would mean:
The data regarding incentivized compliance within Neo Miami is collected, documented, understood, and a paper has been completed and shared on Incentivized Compliance and its Relation to Blockchain Governance.
The incentives will be used in various experimental ways while maintaining the standards of "The Goal Mechanism."
Data on participants and their experiences will be collected and reported.
A paper will be written on how "The Goal Mechanism" and incentivized compliance applies to blockchain governance in order for the Catalyst and greater Cardano communities to explore deeper into solutions for more robust participation and greater accountability.
I have an extremely high capability of completion as I have already written "The Goal Mechanism", laying out my hypothesis that The Goal Mechanism can be used in any environment and that it can be a vital tool in improving dynamics of blockchain governance. Between writing and ideating intricacies of "The Goal Mechanism", there have been over 1000 hours invested, and an ever-increasing amount of motivation to see this product through within the Cardano ecosystem.
The release of incentives in various ways to multiple experimental groups will occur. The amount of production, participation, and interaction will be measured for participants.
Data will be recorded to understand the value of The Goal Mechanism in holding the community accountable to participate in governance. Each week there will be new data collected.
Each month there will be a data dump of results, posted in the Neo Miami server for public viewing.
Each week, research will be done to understand the variables in both blockchain governance and incentivized compliance. Notes will be taken and available for viewing per community request.
After 8 months, the results from the various experiments as well as data will be put into a paper detailing the importance of Incentivized Compliance in Blockchain Governance.
Each month there will be multiple experiments done to better understand users' willingness to participate in blockchain governance with incentives. Variables may change to understand different angles of the subject, but all data will be collected and recorded for the community to review each month.
After reviewing the results of the data, I will write a detailed paper on the importance of incentivized compliance in blockchain governance for the Cardano community to see and improve from.
If the hypothesis of "The Goal Mechanism" is correct, then the experiments will act as further validation and they may confirm that it is appropriate to move the Goal Mechanism into the next phase of production.
This experimental step in testing "The Goal Mechanism" will ask for the following FUND DISTRIBUTION (assuming ADA is .285 USD):
Writing and Research
$23 per hour x 40 hours per week
4 weeks per month for 8 months = 103,298 ADA
Assistant to Document Data and Perform Secretarial Tasks
$18 per hour x 15 hours per week
4 weeks per month for 8 months = 30,315 ADA
Incentives for Testing Experiments
8,000 ADA
TOTAL FUNDS required for completion = 141,613
Hundreds of hours were spent creating "The Goal Mechanism", and further experimentation is required before asking for greater funds to build a product. With useable data, we will be able to learn how "The Goal Mechanism" works to incentivize behavior conducive to growing a healthy community and how implementations used can become a model for the Catalyst Fund in the future.
The amount of ADA requested for Writer and Researcher and Assistant are both based off of the US average rate.
Research Writer average wage in US is $23 per hour : Research Writer Salary: Hourly Rate June 2023 United States (ziprecruiter.com)
Office Assistant average wage in US is $18 per hour : Secretary Salary in California: Hourly Rate (June, 2023) (ziprecruiter.com)
The Writer and Researcher and Assistant will both work toward creating documentation and a paper detailing the results of this experiment for the Cardano community to learn from and incorporate. This funding allows for the experimentation phase to take place, while simultaneously sharing valuable information with the Cardano community on how to better increase participation in community governance. A finished product of The Goal Mechanism implemented on Cardano will create a high chance for Cardano to be used in other communities as well as with non-crypto users, scaling the ecosystem greatly.
Teal Titan- creator, researcher, and writer
I will be responsible for the implementation of experiments regarding incentivized compliance, as well as the comprehension of data in order to articulate it into a paper for the Catalyst and greater Cardano community to observe. This will be full-time and require at least 40 hours of work per week.
An Assistant from the Neo Miami server will be recruited for secretarial duties and different community members may be recruited for various tasks depending on skillset. Duties for an assistant may include posting surveys, communicating with various community members, tracking data, and making charts. There will be 15 hours of assistant work needed per week.
