Overview:

Nucast's rental marketplace offers a digital replica of traditional physical video rental stores, allowing content owners to generate income by making their video-NFTs available for rent while users have the opportunity to browse the marketplace and rent videos of their choice. By leveraging blockchain technology, we aim to provide a decentralized, customizable approach to video rentals while offering content owners a new revenue stream.

Technical Architecture:

1. Rental Transaction Initialization:

• Content owners initiate rental transactions within the marketplace, recording them as smart contracts on the blockchain.
• Network fees and a rental market listing fee (currently set at 2 ADA) are incurred during the rental transaction.

2. User Rental Process:

• Users browse the rental marketplace and select desired content for rent.
• To complete the rental process, users pay the rental fee directly to the content owner.
• A percentage of the rental fee (10%) goes to the platform as a service fee.
• Rental fee and rental information are attached to the renting transaction.

3. Secure Content Decryption:

• Upon receiving the rental payment, an on-chain chronologically constrained decryption algorithm is triggered.
• This algorithm securely decrypts the rented content and attaches the encrypted content lease identifier to the renting transaction.
• The lessee (user) can then stream the rented content using the Nucast platform.

4. Authorized Access and Verification:

• Nucast ensures secure and authorized access to rented content.
• The platform queries the smart contract's current state, retrieves the on-chain lease identifier and lease datum, and verifies the lessee's signature for decentralized decryption and delivery of the content.

5. End of Rental Period:

• Once the rental period specified in the smart contract is complete, the content owner can initiate a smart contract transaction to retrieve the NFT.
• This transaction marks the end of the rental period and allows the content owner to regain ownership of the video-NFT.

Offer Content For Rental

If you wish to make a particular piece of content available for rent you would initiate a rental from within the Nucast rental marketplace. This action is a smart contract transaction with applicable network fees. In addition there is a 2 ADA Rental Market Listing Fee (in the future this fee will be payable in other native tokens like $nu) and the NFT sits in the smart contract until the rental listing period is over.

Users will be able to browse the nucast rental marketplace and select content to rent by paying the rental fee to the content owner (10% of this fee goes to the platform). Accessing Rented Content

The lessee will be able to stream their rented content using nucast. Nucast will query the smart contract’s current state, onchain lease identifier, lease datum, verify the lessee’s signature for decentralized decryption and delivery of the leased content to the lessee.
