We intend to make only the smart contracts of our project open source. These smart contracts will be released under a permissive open-source license, such as the MIT License, which allows for broad reuse and adaptation by the community. By doing so, we ensure transparency and foster innovation within the Cardano ecosystem, allowing other developers to build upon our work and contribute to the growth of blockchain-based health applications.
Other parts of the application, such as proprietary frontend and backend components or the AI/IoT integrations, will remain closed-source. This approach enables us to protect sensitive user data handling practices while still contributing valuable blockchain resources to the community. We are committed to ensuring that the smart contract code remains accessible throughout the entire project lifecycle, with a declared open-source repository hosted on platforms like GitHub.

Positive Impact on the Cardano Community:
The Holistic Health dApp MVP will have a meaningful impact on the Cardano ecosystem by introducing a real-world use case that showcases the practical benefits of blockchain technology in health and wellness. By leveraging Cardano’s smart contracts, decentralized identity (DID), and tokenization capabilities, we aim to demonstrate how decentralized technology can enhance privacy, security, incentivization, and engagement in widely-used health applications.
Value to the Cardano Community:
- Real-World Use Case for Cardano: Our project will demonstrate how blockchain can improve the user experience and security in everyday applications, driving adoption of Cardano in a growing industry like health and wellness.
- Blockchain-Driven Privacy and Data Security: Through the integration of DID and smart contracts, we ensure secure, permissioned sharing of sensitive health data, promoting trust and transparency.
- Token-Based Incentives for Engagement: Through a tokenization feature, we incentivize users to meet their wellness goals and remain engaged with the platform. This showcases blockchain’s ability to create motivating, real-world reward systems, promoting long-term user engagement.
Measuring Impact:
We will measure the MVP’s impact both quantitatively and qualitatively:
- Quantitative Measures:
- User Cohort dApp Testing: Number of users who onboard and utilize the platform for appointments, data tracking and expert consultations.
- Expert Cohort dApp Testing: Number of health and wellness experts using the dApp for appointments, data sharing and collaboration.
- Data Security and Privacy: Measure the effectiveness of DID integration through audit logs and blockchain activity related to data sharing and permission management.
- Token Transactions: Measure user engagement through the distribution and redemption of tokens for achieving health goals.
- Qualitative Measures:
- User Feedback: Collect feedback from both users and experts to evaluate satisfaction with the app's ease of use, data privacy, token rewards, and overall experience.
- Expert Collaboration: Feedback from wellness experts on how effectively the dApp facilitates client management and collaboration across disciplines.
- Blockchain Understanding: Gauge community awareness and understanding of how blockchain benefits their health and wellness experiences.
Sharing Outputs and Opportunities:
We will share our learnings and MVP outputs through:
- Catalyst Reporting: We will provide regular updates to the Cardano community through through the Milestone Platform if funded.
- Public Project Board: We will have a dedicated Project Board both on Notion and Dework that will track the progress and updates real-time and that is open to public.
- Open-Source Contributions: We will contribute key learnings and features (e.g., smart contracts for appointment scheduling and payment automation) as open-source modules for broader community use.
