Our governance systems are super complex and are often underdesigned, most solutions solve problems that were not fully understood
Design a system by understanding the problem deeply, iterating on that , and going from there.
This is the total amount allocated to Behavioural based governance.
I was hesitant on posting this because it will take more than 2 weeks for value to flow back into catalyst. However, I believe many of the other proposals are also in this same category, and I was inspired by this post. So here I am, making a submission for this funding round: https://cardano.ideascale.com/a/dtd/A-Scalable-Decision-Economy/340677-48088
It's only recently I have started to understand the importance of design and simplification in solving problems. The majority of us do not have this appreciation.
Here are some examples from twitter recently
A Solutions being implemented without proper understanding:

Constantly changing the problem being solved:

Furthermore,
Most of us believe design works best if you get the noise and opinions of every passerby, and try to please everyone in the room. Social dynamics have very real effects on the outcomes of solutions (I have let many a bad discussion pass because i didn't know how to deal with certain people, this is hard when it is you vs N sheep), Also the brain solves problems better in quiet (sleep on it) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f84n5oFoZBc&t=1605s.
How much time should we allow for the design of the governance system?
Inspiration from video game programmers
I believe some of the hardest systems are built by video games programmers. While I am not a video game programmer myself I have picked up on their thinking and mentality of designing systems. Jonathan blow has some great videos where he talks about design. He is the designer and main programmer of the witness, If you are a programmer and play this game you can really appreciate the amount of complexity that has to be dealt with in order to make a game like this work.
I want to design the system in the open, looking at the problems and discussing the details before jumping to an implementation. I have many questions after reading the cardano whitepaper, I see many areas where simplification can occur.
I have been thinking about this problem for a while but didn't have a rush to make them concrete. However it seems relevant to the cardano ecosystem right now so I feel like prioritising it a bit.
Where do the funds go
- Support me to reifiy my ideas on governance
- Some articles / videos / discussions with individuals
I believe I have some novel ideals to bring to this area, especially looking at the psychological aspect. Getting ideas out into the public will be a good start in solidifying a design and pulling in more people for discussion.
