SOLUTION
Let's build a wallet that meets the unique needs of a people in developing countries and can easily customized to local regions. A Custom wallet is the easiest way to grow the Cardano community in Africa and will provide a network effect that will impact the entire ecosystem.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Adoption in emerging markets is often fraught with unique problems requiring applications to be hyper-localized for differences in languages, culture, income levels, Telcos, ISPs etc. Hyper-localization is often required not just when crossing country borders but also may be required within the county to support regional language dialects and local social-economic conditions. A perfect example would be the strategy employed by Grab to gain traction in the Indonesian market. Grab adopted a unique customer acquisition strategy for almost each city the included localization of its app. The best solution would be to build an app that is localized including support for the 2000 languages (10 + main languages ) in Africa, each having multiple local dialects. But building and testing such an Wallet would be a Herculean task that would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars and thousands of man hours.
The idea of this proposal is to build a Wallet that would meet the requirements of the broadest possible demographic. This app would provide the the following solutions to localization challenges.

1. Language Diversity & Illiteracy - The app would employ a skeuomorphic design that replaces text with intelligent iconography that will undergo rigorous usability testing to appeal to the demographic of the entire African continent. Localization of the wallet will still be possible by uploading a set of icons.
2. Disparate Income Levels - The app will only support essential network traffic. Batching transactions will be supported. Auto updating of data will be replaced by providing the user with a refresh button to give the user more control over network data usage.
3. Poor Telco SLA - Users will be able to create transactions that are stored locally on the phone, later when the user is near a WIFI or has a stronger data connection, the user will be promoted to send the transaction.
4. Disparate Education Levels - Some users of a Cardano wallet will not have downloaded and used an app before. Definitely not a good things since wallets tend to be multi-functional - trading, price checking, news…. - and complex. We will build a wallet that supports the minimum functionality of signing, history and balance.
5. Security- It is common in some parts of Africa for devices to be shared within a family or broader group. Another layer of security will be provided by Two Factor Authentication using text messaging that would require the approval of someone using another cellphone. Devices used in Africa may lack features that allow biometric identification.
   Different Selection of Devices -Africa supports different devices and hardware manufacturers then in other parts of the the world. When creating any new app it is important to test the app on the most commonly used devices and to optimized for the most common screen sizes and screen resolutions. Having an app that will be tested against the common devices in Africa will help guarantee a good experience for users. See attachment for the most common devices we need to support.
