Artists royalty payouts are extremely low in comparison to how much streaming giants like Spotify and Apple profit.
Decentralized streaming where the artist is paid their royalties both directly and fairly, while also interacting with their fans.
This is the total amount allocated to Decentralized Music Streaming.
There is plenty room for an idea like this to prosper. The average payout is currently less than a penny per stream, making it almost impossible for independent artists to survive on their passion. Instead of a system where every click or rewind is calculated behind a curtain by some unknown entity, it should be open and ran by the public. This system will allow us to offset any monthly or yearly cost on the listeners end, as well as pay the artist directly in a native token, where they can decide to either keep that token or trade it for their preferred currency. This will all happen almost seamlessly on the blockchain. While holding and staking the native token, listeners will help keep the network secure and given rights to vote on certain issues such as changes to royalty rates.
I currently work in the music industry as an artist manager and former producer.
