In Uganda, Cardano's visibility and entrepreneurs' understanding of future opportunities are extremely little.
Cardano Fellows Uganda will build capacity amongst local stakeholders in order to flank Cardano's expansion across East Africa.
This is the total amount allocated to Cardano Fellows Uganda (CFU).
Cardano Fellows Uganda (CFUs) programme will be put in place in order to achieve the following outputs after 6 months:
1. Mapping the ecosystem of crypto relevant stakeholders in Uganda
2. Designing a curriculum and scope of work for CFUs
3. Signing up (up to) 10 Enterprise Support Organizations (ESOs) and Innovation Hubs (IHs) in the programme for placement of CFUs for up to 6 months
4. Calling for applications and selecting up to 10 CFUs, in particular women and youth
5. CFUs undergoing curriculum in order to become capacity builders in ESOs and IHs
6. CFUs using ESOs as platforms to introduce Ugandan entrepreneurs to Cardano's vision and related economic opportunities
7. An awareness campaign will inform the public about the Cardano Fellows Uganda programme, promoting human interest stories of e.g. young female CFUs
8. A closing event to wrap up the programme in order to feature participants, stakeholders, and the impact of the programme
By implementing the above outputs, the following outcomes will follow after 9 months :
1. An improved mapping and understanding of crypto relevant stakeholders in Uganda
2. Up to 10 selected Cardano Fellows are placed in ESOs and/or Innovation Hubs
3. Up to 500 entrepreneurs have participated in workshops about Cardano's ecosystem and how to get involved
4. Up to 5.000 people have heard about the Cardano Fellows Uganda programme and thus increased awareness of Cardano
5. Strengthened the connection and network of the crypto relevant stakeholders in Uganda
By achieving the above outcomes, the following impact will be envisioned after 12 months:
1. ESOs and IHs have increased knowledge of blockchain technology and the Cardano ecosystem
2. ESOs and IHs act as multipliers and platforms to promote the Cardano ecosystem
3. Entrepreneurs in Uganda have an increased interest in entering the Cardano ecosystem
4. Monitoring and evaluation will determine the ability to scale the programme to more ESOs and IHs in Uganda and East Africa
5. CFU's personal experience and livelihood has been supported on their career pathway (approx. 50 indirect beneficiaries)
6. 500 entrepreneurs have learnt more about blockchain and Cardano as an ecosystem (approx. 2500 indirect beneficiaries)
Key metrics to measure as per challenge:
1. Number of African participants: up to 600
2. Number of non-African participants: up to 10
3. Novelty of approach: reasonably high (:
Budget break down:
1. Hiring a programme lead at Finding XY - 10 months = 15.000 USD
2. Curriculum development and training of CFUs = 10.000 USD
3. Stipends for CFUs = 10 x 2.500 = 25.000
3. Awareness campaign including paid social media ads = 5.000 USD
4. Closing event in Kampala, Uganda = 5.000 USD
5. ITC equipment = 1.500 USD
6. Impact Report = 1.000 USD
7. Unforeseen = 2.500 USD
Total = 65.000 USD
Starting date is envisioned to be 01.01.2022
Well-positioned in the ecosystem of African Enterprise Support Organizations to sign up Cardano Ambassadors (CAs), starting in Uganda.
