About this idea
Cardano IPR (Intellectual Property Registry)
IPR is an important step in the adoption and propagation of NFT Business Model use-case per the Cardano Community Challenge.
The aim of Cardano IPR is to provide a fast, cheap, and effective way to register IP (patents, trademarks, copyright, licensing etc.) utilizing NFT tokenized smart contracts. The registry applicant will be able to register their work with on-chain metrics to provide effective proof of ownership.
IPR team proposes that NFT technology can be utilized to mint NFT Tokens with metadata in an on-chain registry that can clearly provide time and date stamped proof of ownership, to assist with legal settlement and dispute resolution, as well as providing innovators of decentralized Cardano projects with proof of ownership thru tokenized assets held in owners Cardano wallets.
We recognize that creators, inventors, and artists struggling with roadblocks, legal registry fees and the bureaucratic process of registering IP are in need of a fast, logical and inexpensive way to immutably register their works.
Phase 1: Q1 & Q2 2022
Building a decentralized platform to allow users to register their works with ADA fees per registration, a Cardano IPR token with attached meta-data providing immutable, time-stamped proof of IP ownership thru the use of NFT tokens minted to Cardano wallets.
Phase 2: Q3 & Q4 2022
Developing select features as needed to enable support of registration fee submission thru not only ADA but other native assets such as Djed. Exploration of the potential of dispute settlement thru on chain governance. Expanding on licensure, and the regulatory abilities of IP owners to license and sell the rights to their IP works as applicable.
Phase 3: 2023 & Beyond
Further Development and exploration of on-chain governance and community voting to give IP owners a voice concerning the registration of their works and other potential use cases. Exploring the ability to use on-chain governance to issue grants to creators, artists, and innovators to assist in funding proposals in the Cardano ecosystem.
Success will be measured @ 3months as a functioning limited use prototype on Cardano testnet.
Success will be measured @ 6 months as a functioning alpha for public use.
Success will be measured @ 12 months as functioning product available for public use with limited use case features.
Success will be measured @ 24 months as a functioning product available for public use with expansions regarding licensure, on chain governance, grant proposal, community voting and funding.
