Healthcare data is the most popular target among hackers. It costs the highest at $408 per record. How Atala PRISM help in this regard?
Our Healthcare APIs can complement the power of Atala PRISM so that more healthcare providers can easily onboard.
This is the total amount allocated to Health DAO.
Project Name: Health DAO | Hippocrades
Project Brief:
Atala PRISM provides a powerful identity solution in the Cardano blockchain. One major use case is in healthcare where users (patients) can have complete control over how their personal data is used and accessed like health records, prescriptions, and vaccinations.
PRISM has already provided this robust tool for health system providers to build on so that identity management is set in a decentralized way. To further expand its utilization, however, a healthcare platform (with healthcare solutions + API endpoints) can be added so that more health facilities and providers can easily onboard.
There are still hundreds of thousands of health facilities and providers across the globe that are still paper-based and do not use an EMR (Electronic Medical Records) system, while others use an outdated one. Having a health system is the primary step prior to PRISM integration.
Our technology, Hippocrades addresses the above concerns and perfectly complements Atala PRISM's vision.
Hippocrades in a Nutshell:
Hippocrades is a healthcare infrastructure and protocol for Web 3.0. Simply, it provides three technologies:
*For details, see whitepaper at https://www.hippocrades.com/hippocrades.pdf
Atala PRISM + Hippocrades:
While Atala PRISM can take care of the DID and blockchain-related tasks, the Hippocrades Health Infrastructure can be the front-end and middleware platform for healthcare-related solutions. This makes it easy for health providers who don't have existing health systems to get into PRISM and subsequently onboard their thousands of patients as well.
Since Hippocrades is system agnostic, other health providers that already have systems can easily integrate as well. The more health facilities to onboard, the faster the acceleration for growth in the Cardano/PRISM network.
*This very much aligns with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals in addressing the lack of data in health if more health systems are in place especially in local health centers.
Interoperability
Hippocrades Nightingale addresses the huge concern on Health Information Exchange (HIE) that even advanced countries have some challenges with. It is difficult to make health data shareable without having to compromise its security and privacy. However, with blockchain and utilizing zero-knowledge (zk) protocol, Nightingale resolves this dilemma (see diagram attached).
Hippocrades has on-chain and off-chain modules. The off-chain where the zk is executed also provides API endpoints. This means data health exchange (medical records, prescriptions, etc) coming from other networks can utilize Nightingale to send and receive data while keeping data private since only zk proofs are transported.
Countries can instantly set up their own decentralized Health Information Exchange since both Atala PRISM and Hippocrades are already in place. Their local health centers can use the available health solutions so they are likewise instantly connected and interoperable with other systems connected to the HIE.
DAO Governance in Practice
Hippocrades is intended to be set up as a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO). Having a decentralized HIE as one of its primary goals, cannot be truly achieved if it is run by a single entity or a regular corporation. Such a very important and sensitive role should not be under the direction and power of one company.

# Is there really a need for this?
Yes, most especially in healthcare where protecting personal sensitive health data is paramount. This Harvard Business Review article "What Blockchain Could Mean for Your Health Data" talks about why we should care about this (**https://bit.ly/3rQYtRp).
Atala PRISM's reach and usage can be accelerated further with Hippocrades since more health providers and facilities can quickly onboard using available health solutions.
# Is there a similar service?
So far there is no similar provider that offers comprehensive health solutions and a platform similar to that of Hippocrades that is web3 integration ready.
# Who are we?
We are the same company behind MYCURE (www.mycure.md) and HAPI Hub (www.hapihub.com), both healthcare-based solutions. We are in the health sector since 2016.
Hippocrades on-chain module called Nightingale is actually partially funded by Catalyst Fund 6 (https://bit.ly/3lIiA0h).

# Success
While marketing and onboarding health centers are outside the scope of this proposed project, a success indicator would be the number of health facilities that will use Atala PRISM through Hippocrades solutions.
