We've only have one earth. We need to treat it with respect. How to use DAOs to support social and environmental sustainability?
Create a model DAO as a nonprofit that supports projects to buy carbon credits, conserve rainforest habitat and promote social justice.
This is the total amount allocated to Spaceship Earth DAO.
The mission of Spaceship Earth project is to launch a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) with three aims:
Enabling: Bringing individuals together to engage in social and environmental conservation and restoration projects
Scaling: Foster effective governance for networks of engaged communities of individuals ranging in size from small to large
Sustaining: Generating sustainable patterns of financial support
The DAO will generate funding to support projects from established environmental and social justice groups including the Sierra Club, Habitat for Humanity, The Heifer Foundation, The Nature Conservancy and Saving the Planet. Individuals who
The plan for this DAO is modeled on the Cardano Catalyst approach. We propose to revise and redeploy the existing code and replicate the model of building communities of engaged activists. Individuals become members of the DAO by making a tax deductible donation to a project. Any member has the power to create a project. Here are the steps:
Any member of the community can start a proposal.
1. Voting rights are established when donations are committed to a project in a smart contract.
2. Projects receive feedback from the community, and descriptions can be amended in light of comments.
3. Members of the Community fulfill a variety of roles: administrators, moderators, evaluators, etc.
4. Projects move forward when the target amount of funding has been committed.
5. An auditing process is put into place by proposers to track the expenditure of funds and the accomplishments made by the project when it is funded.
We propose to create this DAO as a Wyoming nonprofit LLC.
