Self-Sovereign Identity

We have the potential to be leaders in the SSI ecosystem, assuring trust and giving individuals control of their digital identities.

Receiving high quality projects; growing participation on SSI discussions; partnering with ecosystem, governance and working groups.

• The number of proposals that directly address SSI in a quantifiable manner
• The quality of proposals measured by community interest and engagement
• Awareness of Cardano inside the SSI community, working groups and governance entities

The amount and quality of projects proposed so far if fund 6, 7 and 8, and the involvement of the community in the matters of Decentralized Identity are clear indicators that Cardano is ready to make the big move to cope with all principles of the Self-Sovereign Identity ecosystem.

What are those principles?

1. Inclusion: Identity should be available to all
2. Control: Users must control their own identities
3. Access: Users must have access to their own data
4. Transparency: Systems and governance must be transparent
5. Persistence: Identities must be long-lived
6. Portability: Identity information and services must be transportable
7. Interoperability: Identities should be as widely usable as possible
8. Consent: Users must agree to the use of their identity or data
9. Minimization: Disclosure of identity information must be minimized
10. Protection: Users’ right to privacy must be protected

This challenge is looking for projects that help position Cardano as one of the leaders in the SSI space by producing an impact in the layers of the TrustOverIP Foundation Dual Stack model (follow this link as a reference for an interactive model). Proposals can focus on the technical side and/or the governance side, and are not restricted to Atala Prism products.
