Colombian congressmen require quality information about Cardano to make better legislative decisions on cryptocurrencies in 2022/26
It is necessary to inform Colombian Congressmen now in a direct way through interviews that solve doubts and determine positions.
This is the total amount allocated to Colombian Congress Cardano.
In the first phase of this Fund 7 funded project dedicated to providing information to congressmen enabling enlightened knowledge about Cardano and cryptocurrencies we have started with establishing the first contacts in Congress and have already managed to interview the First Congressman and establish contacts with two more of them. In the first phase, we interviewed a young senator and congressman of the Democratic Center party, who is already waiting for more information, he expressed the urgent need to enlighten senators on the contents related to cryptocurrencies, confirming what was our initial hypothesis.
Now for Fund 8 we need your support to strengthen what will be the most important initiative to approach Colombian political leaders in this matter. Thanks to the aforementioned experience we have found that direct dialogue with representatives and senators is quite effective, which allows us to resolve doubts immediately and make clearer proposals on the subject. For them our team will continue its work of approaching the new senators and representatives elected last March 13, through the different political parties and with the information already prepared for phase 1. This process will be extended with a determination of the ongoing bills on the subject, so that the discussions will be about the position on these bills.
For this we have devised different means of management, through a network of contacts in political spaces, a weekly approach and a contact will be made to establish a weekly interview, during 4 months of development. Thanks to this we hope to have a considerable group of senators or representatives in the congress duly enlightened, but at the same time fully identified and with clarity about their position on the matter.
This group of senators or representatives will be able, thanks to this approach, to receive more adequate information about the current bills that have relevance in the field of Cryptocurrencies.
Let's remember that there is a very clear tendency to legislate on this matter and the only information available is that of the press and some information that circulates independently (https://colombiafintech.co/lineaDeTiempo/articulo/colombia-da-el-primer-paso-para-regular-bitcoin#).
With the community we will later work on a strategy to scale this model to other congresses.
How will this be achieved?
1) The working group has direct experience with the target population. They know their needs, their vocabulary and their formalities.
2) It has direct contact with congress participants, who will serve as models for the evaluation of the proposals developed.
3) With the support of the Latin American teams in Catalyst, the information will be strengthened and we will seek to expand this project to other Latin American congresses.
Given the great misinformation on the matter, this project wants to take the second step to approach the Colombian Congressmen in the matter of cryptocurrencies and in this way open the doors to educate and obtain their doubts on the matter. This strategy will allow a close defense of the community against high impact legislation that is already in progress. There is no greater risk than misinformation.
How will this campaign add value to our ecosystem?
This project will allow the second step to be taken to approach a group with a high impact but uninformed on the matter and will be focused on having a positive impact on the decisions that this body takes in 2022.
This proposal has the following main risks: the difficulty of access to members of congress, the months in which congress members do not meet, which are considerable, and the social political risk in the context of the presidential elections that are currently underway.

We were able to establish direct links with Congressmen, generating interest in the matter and providing adequate information. We managed to impact on possible laws that compromise the adoption of crypto.
This is the second phase of the Cardano Colombia Congreso project. It was funded in 7. https://cardano.ideascale.com/c/idea/384223
This is the natural continuation of this work launched in March 2022 and which has already borne fruit, we are ready to further strengthen our work with the Colombian Congress, now through a more direct work with the congressmen, we already have a political group that we have approached and we believe that we can go further to strengthen the information channels.
