Despite all the blockchain education initiatives, there are no mechanisms to bring this knowledge to people with no technical backgrounds.
Create a boardgame that teaches basic concepts of blockchain in a didactic and fun way without the need for technical jargon.
This is the total amount allocated to "MINING" educative board game.
Mining Educational Game is a board game that uses traditional elements such as dice, an hourglass, a board and puzzle cards, and can be played in teams or individually. The objective is to overcome puzzles and certain activities in order to simulate the operation of the blockchain, proof of work, and more!
I believe one of the main objectives of the Challenge is to onboard new members into the world of blockchain and Cardano; this game will do exactly that! And not just technical people, it's aimed to get everyone educated about the technology in a fun manner.
Risk:
The strategy to mitigate these risks consists of holding constant meetings with the designers so that the deadlines and objectives are met, with respect to bugs that arise in the tests, these will be systematically evaluated and resolved in each iteration of the tests. Rest assured, the teaching objective of the game will not be compromised.
Despite already having an initial design that I've tested myself with other individuals, prototyping will be done in trial-and-error iterations; until achieving a game mechanic that is clear, participatory and fun; There will be 4 stages, each stage includes the following activities:
Design and adjustment of the cards used in the game, this activity is recurring.
Design and adjustment of the board, this activity is recurring.
Impression of the models that are tried on the playing cards.
Impression of the models that are tried on the playing cards.
Adjustment in game mechanics.
This activity is performed at the end of the iteration.
Stage 1: 2 weeks
Stage 2: 2 weeks
Stage 3: 2 weeks
Stage 4: 4 weeks
Layout: USD 3000
Graphic Designer: USD 3000
Playing card printing: USD 1120
Board creation: USD 300
Trial (x4): USD 2000
TOTAL: USD 9420
As of now, it's just myself leading and doing majority of the work; I've taken apart a lot of Rubik's Cubes, and decks of cards in the process to build initial models, and test the mechanics; but the goal is to hire:
1x Designers
1x Illustrator
And cover some initial packaging costs.
Success would be measured by obtaining the proof of concept of the board game with the entire mechanism developed.
This project is an entirely new one
