Cardano Icons for consistent design

Working with a great illustrator(s) we will create a series of useful and open iconography with a specifically Cardano style.

Phil Khoo is a Media Designer, art directing the upcoming Catalyst funded blockchain based machine learning game, Terra Cognita. He is a participating CA and active community member since fund 3.

Lobo is a trained illustrative artist and has worked on concept art for TC.

[IMPACT]

By providing the community with high quality open source and expandable icon series community based projects such as website and presentation material can start to have a professional and coherent visual look and feel. This will be a great help with new user on boarding as it will provide the projects and people working on this with a set of high quality graphics.

Consistent design elements will help with message cohesion. Although it won't be necessary for anyone to use the icon series the fact that it exists and can be used openly will add to a professional and yet still fun and exuberant community. Instead of using generic or paid icon sets the community will have access to quality and unifying collection.

Main risks to the project would be the community may choose not to use and engage with the icon set. However being released to the creative commons will mean that adding to and adjusting the collection will be possibly by the community. This will make it expandable and will therefore help with adoption and longevity of the project.

[FEASIBILITY]

In order to work with existing commitments the research stage will be a six week period. At the end of this a design specification document will be provided to the illustrator who will have eight weeks to deliver the final work. In that eight weeks there will be a sketch stage, a draft stage and a completion stage. An extra few weeks may be needed for contingency. But the project should be deliverable in a three to four month period. If it was solely worked on a quicker turn around could be expected, but both the designer and the artist have other commitments.

Research: $2000

Great design starts with great research. A step often overlooked. This will include design aesthetic, licensing options and implementation options (ie which icons would be most useful to the community)

Design: $3000

This work will be to discover the nature of the work needing to be produced. It will look to build on and develop from the design research. It will explore style, colour and other design elements such as texture, scale and repetition. This will then be turned into an execution brief to present the concept.

Illustration: $3000

The illustration will turn the concept into visual reality. Working with the designer the illustrator will sketch, draft and finalize the icon series.

Administration: $1000

This budget will cover the participation costs of catalyst funding including reporting and meetings, payments and general community participation with presentations and promotion.

AIM Development Fund: $500

The Cardano AIM (Assembly of Inspired Masses) is a community guild of builders, creators and doers. Our goal is to develop community tools that progress the Catalyst Experiment and add value to the Cardano ecosystem. The Cardano Development fund is an addition to AIM proposals and is designed to assist with the development and management of the Cardano AIM guild. It is an experiment in generating a side treasury operated and managed by AIM. The side treasury will over time go towards the future development of AIM projects on Cardano working towards sustainability.

Phil Khoo, is a trained Media Designer. He has the skills and knowledge needed to explore and develop a quality narrative encapsulating the Cardano Icon set.

Lobo is a train illustrator. He has worked on various AIM projects that will be released to the community as well as on the concept art as a part of Terra Cognita, the funded and under developement ML and blockchain game to be released on Cardano. [AUDITABILITY]

We will produce a series of 20 Icons. It's an easy thing to prove it exists and progress can be presented as a part of the monthly reporting.

A successful completion of the icon series and made available to the community for use.

This is a new proposal. Although it's related to the work of the Community Landing page and can be used to increase the visual appeal of the site. It can also be used by other projects and proposals.
