[IMPACT] Please describe your proposed solution.
Problem: e.g.:
On google maps, how can a 3 year old review from a day tourist in Venice have the same weight as a week old review from a Venice local?
Review platforms are vital for food establishments, but the main platforms out there today have many flaws: abundance of spam reviews, lack of moderation, inconsistence review quality, limited response from business owners, bias towards popular establishments, limited offline functionality, lack of transparency.
We believe that a blockchain backed SocialFI review platform can tackle most or all these problems.
- By building on Cardano we ensures transparency, immutability and temper proof review record.
- Token based incentive that users can earn for submitting accurate and useful reviews, validated by the community
- Reputation system to reward users who consistently provide accurate and trustworthy reviews. Users with higher reputation will have their reviews weighted more heavily, fostering a community of reliable contributors.
- Smart contracts ensure the validation and verification of review. Filtering out fake/bias/poor reviews.
- Intuitive and user friendly interface. Make it easy for users to browse, contribute and earn.
This projects aim to help consumers find the best food experience to meet their taste and expectations, and businesses have their worth and quality reported accurately.
The impact will be seen by having both consumer and provider satisfied.
[IMPACT] How does your proposed solution address the challenge and what benefits will this bring to the Cardano ecosystem?
This project being built on Cardano, aims to help its ecosystem by delivering a useful product that will push adoption.
By implementing smart contracts, Umami ensures validation and verification of review, that are now weighted by the community and provides an immutable record of the transaction.
[IMPACT] How do you intend to measure the success of your project?
Considering the staggering amount of food establishments around the world and Google maps' 1 billion users per month, the target potential is huge.
The success will be verifiable on the blockchain and dApp itself, by metrics as user satisfaction, retention, and count.
We plan to stay vigilant and considerate of users and restaurant suggestions, keeping the consumer and provider in mind at all times.
[IMPACT] Please describe your plans to share the outputs and results of your project?
Being avid reviews readers, we want to make this platform as user oriented as possible.
We want to keep track of our progress, successes and failures along the whole project.
An idea we have is to dedicate a whole part of the platform to user feedback, complaints and bug hunt as well as road map targets hits and miss.
[CAPABILITY/ FEASIBILITY] What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability?
We are a small team starting from an idea, the desire to improve a sector that we have at hearth and the passion for Cardano to bring these together. We have been sharing this project to collect awareness and interest.
We have extensive restaurant/catering and services experience, we are world travellers with extensive knowledge of reviews platforms.
Rocco is a small hotel + restaurant owner.
Ugo is a data scientist.
We have the management and agile mentality to tackle this project.
We plan to be transparent about the needs and progresses.
We are motivated and ready to go.
[CAPABILITY/ FEASIBILITY] What are the main goals for the project and how will you validate if your approach is feasible?
Umami main goal is to improve consumer and provider experience and communication.
Create a place where
- consumers can be open and clear about what works and does not work in the food industry,
- providers can rely and quality feedbacks from the consumer,
- reward overall quality,
- foster a community of trustworthy reviewers,
- promote and grow the Cardano ecosystem
We plan to validate these through
- market research
- user feedback
- agile approach to adapt to the user needs
