[METADATA] SDG rating
SDG1 - End poverty in all its forms everywhere.
SDG9 - Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation.
SDG10 - Reduce inequality within and among countries
[SOLUTION] Please describe your proposed solution.
The technological development in Sub-Saharan African countries is influenced by a complex interplay of various factors. While it's important to recognize the diversity across different countries in the region, there are some common challenges that many Sub-Saharan African countries face in terms of technological development. These challenges include:
- Infrastructure: Inadequate infrastructure, including reliable electricity, transportation, and communication networks, can hinder the adoption and implementation of technology.
- Access to Education: Limited access to quality education, especially in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields, can result in a shortage of skilled professionals needed for technological innovation.
- Economic Factors: Many countries in the region face economic challenges, including high levels of poverty and unemployment. Limited resources may be allocated to technology-related projects and research.
- Digital Divide: Unequal access to information and communication technologies (ICT) contributes to a digital divide, with urban areas generally having better access than rural areas.
- Lack of Technology Infrastructure: Limited availability of advanced technology infrastructure, including data centers and cloud services, can hinder the adoption of digital solutions.
SOLUTION:
The primary purpose of the Cardano Offline Raspberry Pi Multi-User Network is to minimize the amount of data that is required to be transferred over an available internet connection which thereby reduces cost of bandwidth on users and allows them to combine monetary resources to achieve better economies of scale when purchasing bandwidth.
The users will need devices that can run a web browser to connect to the Cardano Offline Raspberry Pi Multi-User Network server and run locally hosted webmail and web apps which are actually offline, so all server or database calls are free. Regularly the the Cardano Offline Raspberry Pi Multi-User Network will call the cloud to sync data, database changes or web app source code updates using a compressed and encrypted SSH tunnel with appropriate authentication.
[IMPACT] Please define the positive impact your project will have on the wider Cardano community.
The "Cardano Offline Transactions: Raspberry Pi Multi-User Network" project has the potential to generate several positive impacts on the wider Cardano community. Here are some potential positive outcomes:
- Global Accessibility: The offline transaction capability, especially in areas with limited internet access, enhances Cardano accessibility on a global scale. Users in remote or underserved regions can participate in the Cardano ecosystem, fostering inclusivity.
- Community Engagement: Multi-user functionality promotes community engagement. Families, small businesses, and local communities can collaborate in managing their Cardano transactions, creating a sense of ownership and community involvement.
- Educational Value: The project can serve as an educational tool, helping users understand the intricacies of cryptocurrency transactions, blockchain technology, and the importance of security. This knowledge can empower users to make informed decisions and contribute to a more informed Cardano community.
- Innovation and Experimentation: The project encourages innovation and experimentation within the Cardano community. Developers and enthusiasts may explore new ways to interact with the Cardano blockchain, leading to the discovery of novel use cases and functionalities.
- User Empowerment: Users gain increased control and ownership of their Cardano transactions. This empowerment can contribute to a sense of trust and confidence in the Cardano ecosystem, fostering a positive user experience.
- Energy Efficiency Considerations: If the project aligns with energy-efficient practices, it can contribute to a positive environmental impact, aligning with broader sustainability goals.
- Inspiring Similar Projects: The success of this project may inspire other community members to undertake similar initiatives or contribute to the broader Cardano ecosystem. It can serve as a model for projects that prioritize security, decentralization, and user empowerment.
- Feedback and Iterative Development: The engagement with the Cardano community during the project's development allows for feedback and iterative improvements. This collaborative approach fosters a sense of community involvement and shared responsibility for the success of the ecosystem.
- Trust in Cardano Ecosystem: Successful implementation of the project, coupled with transparent communication, can contribute to increased trust in the Cardano ecosystem. Users may feel more confident in using Cardano for their transactions, knowing that innovative and secure solutions are being developed within the community.
- Positive Community Dynamics: The project's emphasis on community inclusion and collaboration can contribute to positive community dynamics. Users may feel more connected to the broader Cardano community, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment.
[CAPABILITY & FEASIBILITY] What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability? How do you intend to validate if your approach is feasible?
We will establish trust and accountability as follows:
- Clear Communication: Clearly communicate project goals, objectives, and expectations to all stakeholders. Provide regular updates on project progress, challenges, and achievements.
- Transparency: Be transparent about project timelines, budget, and potential risks. Share project documentation, including requirements, plans, and test results.
- Stakeholder Involvement: Involve key stakeholders, including users and community members, in decision-making processes. Solicit feedback and consider it in the project's evolution.
- Security Measures: Implement robust security measures to protect sensitive data, emphasizing the importance of user privacy and data integrity.
- Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation for all aspects of the project, including design decisions, implementation details, and user manuals.
Validating Feasibility:
- Pilot Program: Consider implementing a pilot program with a smaller user group to validate the feasibility of your approach before a full-scale rollout.
- Proof of Concept: Develop a proof of concept to validate critical aspects of your project, such as offline transaction capabilities, multi-user functionality, and security measures.
- Technical Prototyping: Create technical prototypes to test specific components or functionalities before integrating them into the full system.
- Continuous Testing: Implement a continuous testing strategy, including unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing, to catch and address issues early in the development process.
- User Feedback: Gather feedback from potential users, incorporating their input into the development process. Conduct usability testing to ensure that the system meets user expectations.

[RESOURCES] Who is in the project team and what are their roles?
Nzolantima Swasisa (Nzola) , and I was born and raised in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Because of my passion for technology, at a young age I started taking electronics communications courses. Since then, I built an entire academic and working career in the field. For 19 years I worked for the Christian organization Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) in 6 different countries; DRC, Angola, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Mozambique. Now employed by the Canadian National Defense Department.
While working at MAF, I became aware of the lack of telecommunication infrastructures in rural communities and I begun to refurbish old radio communications to help establish new communication systems.
In the late 90âs, I started implementing a radio email system which consisted of sending emails via radio waves. When cell phones then became popular in Africa, I decided to build an offline mobile email server. (26) Nzola Swasisa | LinkedIn (20+) Facebook
