There are three main deliverables from ChainSmart for the NFT ticket service.
- The ChainSmart NFT Ticket Platform
- Ticket scanner application for mobile phone
- ChainSmart Tickets Mobile Application
The ChainSmart NFT Ticket Platform and the ticket scanner application are products designed and built by ChainSmart for commercial deployment. This will be a billable service offered by ChainSmart to event organizers and ticket issuers. These are not open source.
The ChainSmart Tickets Mobile Application was developed by ChainSmart so that ticketholders who do not have previous crypto experience, can still purchase, receive, and use NFT tickets via the ChainSmart NFT Ticket Platform with the Cardano blockchain. Ticketholders can always send their NFT Ticket to other Cardano native wallets if they want to keep the ticket for long term as a collectible or sell the tickets within NFT secondary marketplaces. In the latter case, their wallets must be able to connect to Cardano DApps.
We view the ChainSmart Tickets Mobile Application as a non-exclusive enabler for the NFT ticket service, and not as a competitive commercial product. Therefore, we have made the ChainSmart Tickets Mobile Application open source which can be accessed at https://github.com/SolusiDataPintar/tickets.
The ChainSmart Tickets Mobile Application is open-source software distributed with an AGPL v3 licence.
ChainmSart provides the ChainSmart Tickets Mobile Application on the basis of NO WARRANTY as specified in the licence file which can be viewed in the above github link.

Introduction
ChainSmart has built a prototype NFT Ticket Platform, scanner, and Tickets Mobile Application that uses the Cardano blockchain.
We are seeking Cardano funding to turn the protype into a minimum viable product (MVP) and take the product to market in Indonesia by educating and raising awareness through the following clearly defined and measurable steps:
- Soft launch to introduce the NFT Ticket Platform to a small audience of targeted industry stakeholders in Indonesia.
- Proof-of-concept ticketed event to demonstrate the NFT Ticket Platform to a mid-size audience of targeted industry stakeholders in Indonesia.
- Production ticketed event to launch the NFT Ticket Platform to a large audience of targeted industry stakeholders in Indonesia.
At each event we will receive and process feedback to refine the MVP to meet market requirements.
Through this three-step process our goal is to identify the first customer who agrees to a commercial pilot and/or full implementation of the NFT Ticket Platform for at least one ticketed event.
The Problem We Are Solving
Existing paper-based ticket systems are subject to the following challenges:
- Paper tickets can be easily forged or duplicated making them vulnerable to fraud and scalping.
- It is difficult for event organizers to ensure that the true owner of an authentic ticket is the one entering an event.
- Ticket issuers cannot control the transfer of tickets, or the price of tickets on secondary markets, once issued.
- It is difficult for event issuers to customize tickets and add additional experiences or redeemable items to some or all tickets.
- Fans often want to keep tickets as collectibles and trade them on a secondary market. However, there is a considerable risk of forgery or duplication.
Proposed Solution
This project is not simply about building an NFT Ticket Platform solution. ChainSmart has already built a prototype NFT Ticket Platform, scanner application, and Tickets Mobile Application. We have designed the project to (1) refine the existing prototype into an NFT Ticket Platform MVP, (2) test the market in Indonesia by engaging with industry stakeholders to promote, educate and seek feedback which we can use to refine the offering and ensure we deliver an NFT ticketing product that meets market requirements, and (3) identify the first customer for a commercial pilot and/or full implementation of the NFT Ticket Platform for at least one ticketed event.
NFT Ticket Platform Solution Overview
The ChainSmart NFT Ticket Platform and custodial wallet is illustrated in the following diagram.
The components illustrated above are as follows:
Each NFT Ticket consist of an image, a secure dynamic QR code, and associated metadata. The image can be made unique to the ticketholder, and therefore a potential collectible. The QR code, which is dynamic and therefore fraud resistant is scanned to redeem items at events such as event entry, receive merchandise, collect food and drinks etc.
ChainSmart NFT Ticket Platform and Ticket Database tracks and processes ticket usage including redeemable items and whether they are available to redeem or have been used. When a ticket is scanned, a request is sent in real-time from the scanner to the NFT Ticket Platform where the validity of the ticket is confirmed, and the item being redeemed is verified. If the requested redeemable item is available, the ticket status is updated, and a response is returned to the scanner. The NFT Ticket Platform also updates the ticket status in the Tickets Mobile Application. The Ticket Platform generates and refreshes QR codes which are displayed in the Tickets Mobile Application. The Ticket Platform connects to the Cardano blockchain to confirm the authenticity and ownership of NFT tickets.
The Scanner is a mobile application that is deployed at the event to scan QR codes and send scanned information back to the ChainSmart NFT Ticket Platform to check ticket validity and confirm whether an item is available to be redeemed or has already been used. The operator of the scanner receives a response back from the ChainSmart Ticket Platform in real time.
The ChainSmart Tickets Mobile Application is hosted by ChainSmart on behalf of ticketholders that allows purchasers of NFT tickets to:
- Receive tickets.
- Hold tickets.
- Display tickets and use to redeem items such as entry to an event.
- Transfer tickets.
- Send, receive, and hold ADA
The Tickets Mobile Application regularly receives refreshed QR codes from the NFT Ticket platform to prevent QR code replay attacks.
The Tickets Mobile Application UI is the front-end Tickets Mobile Application user interface that is accessed from the ticketholder’s mobile phone. When using a ticket to redeem an item, the ticketholder selects the ticket in the Tickets Mobile Application, presses the ticket image to display the QR code which is then presented for scanning. The status of the redeemable items (i.e. available to redeem, versus used) are displayed when viewing the ticket.
The Cardano Blockchain is where the ChainSmart NFT Ticket platform stores the NFT tickets. Cardano is the proof of ownership and ticket validity.

Including non-Cardano Crypto Users in the ChainSmart NFT Ticket Platform Service
The ChainSmart Tickets Mobile Application was designed to enable all ticketholders, both experienced crypto-users, and those ticket purchasers who are not current Cardano users and do not currently have a Cardano wallet, to receive and use an NFT ticket. ChainSmart has ensured that the Tickets Mobile Application registration and installation is straightforward, requiring no technical or “crypto” skills.
As previously discussed, the Tickets Mobile Application is open source so that other providers could build a Ticket Application that can work with the ChainSmart NFT Ticket Platform.
Testing the Market
The goal of the project is to test whether there is a need for an NFT ticket service in Indonesia, and whether we can meet the market requirements with the ChainSmart NFT Ticket Platform. The ultimate proof will be that we are successful in identifying the first customer who agrees to a commercial pilot and/or full implementation of the NFT Ticket Platform for at least one ticketed event.
To do this, we believe we need to engage event organizer industry stakeholders to create awareness, educate, and receive feedback. KITA Cardano has designed a three-stage program where each stage increases the level of engagement.
- Soft launch to introduce the NFT Ticket Platform to a small audience (~ 50 invitees) of key industry stakeholders in Indonesia. This event is designed to create initial awareness through high level education and demonstration. Initial impressions will be solicited from the audience. Attendees will be encouraged to attend the next event and incentivised to introduce and invite contacts from their network.
- Proof-of-concept ticketed event to demonstrate the NFT Ticket Platform to a mid-size audience (~ 100 invitees) of key industry stakeholders in Indonesia. This event is designed to create greater understanding through deeper education and further demonstration. Feedback will be solicited from the audience. As with the first event, attendees will be encouraged to attend the next event and incentivised to introduce and invite contacts from their network.
- Production ticketed event to launch the NFT Ticket Platform to a large audience (~ 200 invitees) of key industry stakeholders in Indonesia This event is designed to launch and promote the NFT Ticket Platform offering through a mixture of entertainment and education. The goal of the event is to create excitement and identify and engage with potential users. Feedback will be solicited from the audience.
At each event, attendees will be issued with a ChainSmart Tickets Mobile Application with an NFT ticket that will be used to enter the event and redeem items within the event.
Solution Benefits
Migrate from issuing and using paper-based tickets to digital tickets represented by NFTs secured on the Cardano blockchain.
- Security and Authenticity: NFT tickets are unique digital assets stored on the blockchain, making them less vulnerable to fraud and scalping. They are significantly harder to forge or duplicate than paper tickets. This allows ticket issuers and event organizers to ensure that only authentic tickets are used to enter an event.
- Ownership and Transfer: The Cardano blockchain provides an immutable record of NFT ownership and transfer. This allows a safe and secure secondary market that allows ticket purchasers to transfer or on-sell tickets.
- Smart Contracts: NFT tickets can have rules programmed into them allowing the ticket issuer or event organizer to control what happens to tickets after the first sale and distribution. For example – prevent resale or transfer of tickets, control resale price, or guarantee that a percentage of any resale goes back to the ticket issuer.
- Increased Revenue Potential: NFT tickets unlock new revenue potential for ticket issuers or event organizers. It is much easier to customize digital tickets with added features and experiences (e.g., online event recordings or an exclusive merchandise store).
- Digital Collectibles: NFT tickets can be combined with, and linked to, digital collectibles such as artworks or photos. They can make them valuable beyond just access to an event.
- Community Building and Fan Engagement: NFT ticketing can help build communities and fan engagement. They can provide new and unique fan experiences, such as polling, voting rights, and direct fan participation.

The deliverables for this project are summarized as follows:
- NFT Ticket Platform, scanner application and Tickets Mobile Application as a minimum viable product (MVP) for mass adoption, including current non-crypto users.

- Paul Brisk, a director of ChainSmart, has over 30 year's experience as a project manager in the payment technology industry. His experience includes managing several large-scale projects at a market-wide level. Prior to starting ChainSmart, Paul was the project manager for the Malaysia Chip and PIN project which involved managing the market-wide migration to PIN on chip payment cards at point-of-sale terminals for all Malaysian commercial banks over three years, on behalf of the Association of Banks Malaysia.
In addition to the team’s record of accomplishment, we are highly motivated to achieve the results described in this proposal because a successful result allows us to launch and grow a commercial blockchain NFT ticket product in a significant and growing industry for Indonesia.
Our approach to this project has been designed specifically to manage risk, through a carefully staged approach. Each of the following stages needs to be successful before progressing to the next stage and spending further funds.

This project is about creating an opportunity for mainstream mass adoption of blockchain technology, and in particular for Cardano.
We are not asking Cardano to fund the development of the NFT Ticket Platform product. ChainSmart has already invested in building a prototype because of a conviction that NFT ticketing represents a substantial opportunity for the mass adoption of blockchain. We are seeking what we believe is modest funding to take the product to market in Indonesia over a 4-month targeted campaign.
The project aims to deliver an NFT Ticket Platform minimum viable product with open-source Tickets Mobile Application and then through three controlled and targeted events, create awareness and test the market acceptance for NFT tickets using the Cardano blockchain. The final goal is to secure a first customer who will agree to a commercial pilot and/or full implementation of the NFT Ticket Platform for at least one ticketed event. We believe that if we are successful with the first customer then more customers will follow, and we can create and grow a market in Indonesia for NFT tickets on the Cardano blockchain.
We view the 110,000 ADA as a small seed fund to take the first step in securing an NFT use case and volume for Cardano in the largest market in Southeast Asia. The size of the ticket issuing industry in Indonesia is considerable:
- Revenue in the Event Tickets market is projected to reach US$370.20m in 2023.
- Revenue is expected to show an annual growth rate (CAGR 2023-2027) of 5.02%, resulting in a projected market volume of US$450.40m by 2027.
- The Sport Events market has a projected market volume of US$145.60m in 2023.
