Project Background
The Project background came about when a group of seven (7) developers and programmers embarked on a research Journey in building and developing on Cardano Blockchain,The problem got complicated beyond our imagination from creating a research design to creating a proof of concept (POC) due to limitation of knowledge in Cardano development (with research being associated with CIP-45 and it's implementation), after an unsuccessful research,There was a conclusion and an agreement in getting a foundational knowledge on Cardano development education, also scaling up as a purpose-driven developer team in the Cardano ecosystem. At the moment, There's a group of eight (8) developers passionate about learning and building on Cardano.

Nigeria and University of Lagos as a Targeted location
Nigeria is a Crypto Currency Market driven country, the most populated in Africa, the second most adoption of cryptocurrency in the world after India, and Lagos as it's most commercial state and Tech hub filled with skilled individuals and students.
University Of Lagos is a public research University located in Lagos, Just emerged as the second best University in Nigeria https://unilag.edu.ng/?p=42831#:~:text=T%20he%20University%20of%20Lagos,2%2C000%20institutions%20across%20the%20world
Filled with student talents and tech skills and rapid growth in technology among Nigeria Universities.
Problem solutions
Although, Cardano Blockchain development has been tagged hard and complex, but with Support, Resources and Positivity Our aim can be achieved through the following;
- We aim to provide seamless, equipped, collaborative, and conducive educational learning platform for the Maximum of forty (40) Students in Nigeria with this number Individual attention and efficient learning is achievable by the Educators also University Of Lagos Students being the targeted audience. Currently, my group is filled with eight (8) passionate Students ready to indulge into Cardano technology and it's implementing tools.
- Physical Onboarding Session: This is a first and necessary step to get our remaining targeted Students, willing to learn and explore new technology in University of Lagos Known for it's creativity in technology and smart students, Two (2) university Coordinators and students organize the publicity of enrolling an addition of Thirty-two (32) new students. The event a one (1) day event also on a first-come, first-serve basis on students arrival after reaching out limit of forty students there would be no entry, this is the first step to show willingness and passion for learning. In the onboarding event University Coordinators introduce students to Cardano Blockchain ecosystem also introducing Education scheme, onboarding students on organisation GitHub account, Created discord server and notion account. In addition introducing the Gimbalabs team educators online live to students, Campaigns and publicity are to be done within departments like Computer Sciences, Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Finance e.t.c, without excluding the existing Blockchain and developers groups like web3UNILAG, Blockchain UNILAG, Google developers association UNILAG and many more in search of talents Students to be on-boarded are expected to have prior knowledge in programming and able to create a minimum of basic web2.0 applications.
- Gimbalabs Education and live online workshops :A project based learning and courses is used by Gimbalabs, in each course module there is a project that serves two purposes the first and compulsory part is teaching students the complete course module of ten (10) project , with Andamio as an efficient learning space, examples of courses to be treated in course module includes writing of first smart contract, building your first transaction, build a frontend for Cardano application, minting tokens, minting NFTs, querying the Blockchain among others, more about Andamio course module... https://www.andamio.io/course/ppbl2024, With Andamio having an efficient Student Learning targets (SLT) in tracking students progress individually and achieving our milestone. Two Educators are scheduled to a total of Six(6) live online hands-on workshop learning with Ninety (90) Minutes per session, in the space of eight (8) weeks of learning, splitting the ten (10) project learning into two different parts among two(2) different educators. There would be a scheduled date and time in convenience of both Educators and learners to improve participation and satisfaction. Students would always be encouraged to attend classes with their laptops and with educators and learners working space (Integrated development environment also Andamio and notion) Andamio, discord and notion are to organize learners and educators achieving an efficient education preparing students and giving chance to go beyond learning (hackathon).
In achieving students dedication, commitment and Impact of Education, This is the second purpose of projects on Andamio Course module which is also very crucial in education, we propose to organize an hackathon at the end of education learning session, giving chance for students to go beyond what they've learnt and see what they can achieve, In judgement with "Important stuff" "neat stuff" and "tough stuff" in Andamio assignment modules are to be used for hackathon. More on Andamio assignments and hackathon ... https://www.andamio.io/course/ppbl2024/204/assignment/assignment204
Students are given a week and some days to create a project independently and making further research beyond the project learnt, in testing the impact of the education and educators six (6) days in judgment and giving results to students.
To the Hackathon results, Prizes are awarded to students in ADA for the category; Most performing Student, in Five positions. prizes can be found in the Proposal budget section.
Further solutions:
- In solving the inequality of Education opportunities: We aim to provide Internet service subscription support to all students in pre live online session and post live online session, solving the Inequitable opportunity problem and discouragement in learning participation among students in the African community.
- In achieving a seamless learning environment : we aim to create an incentive based quiz, question and answer session on what has been taught by Gimbalabs Educators to achieve positive learning space, commitment and activeness of every student and ensuring an understandable live coding sessions also improving self-learning and rapid educational growth.
- In achieving Students education inclusiveness :
Furthermore, maintaining dedication, commitment and developing passion, Prizes in ADA token is awarded in the category ; Most attending students, in Three positions, (prizes can be found in the proposed budget section) Increasing competition, dedication, commitment and developing passion for learning and active participation of Students.
Additional event
This is the final event of education session, in this event, A total of eight (8) winners in two (2) categories in the competition are to be announced,Five (5) in hackathon and Three (3) Most attending. Payments are to be made to winners in this event.
Also, announcements are made to the students about their interest to further pursuing the role of a Cardano developer, which there'a a high chance of ninety-five percent (95%) of students showing interest. In turn, resulting to an increase in Cardano developer's role interest in Nigeria.
[IMPACT] Please define the positive impact your project will have on the wider Cardano community
The Project Outcomes are Invaluable and are highlighted below:
- Cardano blockchain Technological awareness: Cardano Blockchain deserves a greater awareness and familiarity to the public (Nigerian students) due to it's robust and complex technological infrastructures, like the Ouroboros Proof of stake consensus mechanisms, EUTxO multi-functionality, L2 Hydra heads and it's Scalability (TPS), Midnight network, Cardano governance infrastructure, Ouroboros Leios on it's way and many more. serving as an eye-opener to students. The Unified Cardano Students Club Nigeria already setup a foundation for Cardano community among students in Nigeria, we aim to build on this by specializing on University of Lagos campus environment, in turn creating awareness about Cardano Blockchain technology with the Education.
- Scalability of Cardano African developers: After a successful education with Gimbalabs, Due to students satisfaction and psychological theory of the project proposed solution, there is a higher chance of continuous learning interest among students to becoming a certified Cardano developer in Africa, Expansion on the initiative of Coxygen globals in South Africa and other African developers community.
- Formulation of a Student developers community: Subsequently, a complete and successful Education with Gimbalabs, a Purpose-driven and value adding developers community would be formulated.
The team is capable to navigate their ways in continuous learning with utilizing Cardano open source/Public learning libraries also collective team learning and projects implementation for further development and continuous team research also educating new developers thereby scaling and expanding the community even beyond Lagos and Nigeria.
