[SOLUTION] Please describe your proposed solution
We aim to address the problem of promoting sustainable mobility and reducing CO2 emissions by creating a Cardano-based incentive system within the Bikademy app, focusing exclusively on the Challenges feature. This system will encourage and reward everyday cycling during two months in five European cities, selected by the Cardano community through a voting process. By doing so, we engage both the cycling community and eco-conscious individuals, fostering sustainable urban transportation and environmental awareness.
Problem Solved: The lack of incentives for everyday cycling and the need to promote eco-friendly transportation are key challenges in reducing urban CO2 emissions. Our system will directly address this by rewarding individuals for their cycling efforts, encouraging more people to adopt cycling as a daily mode of transport.
Solution: Through the Bikademy app, users will be able to track their daily rides and measure CO2 savings. Over a two-month period in five EU cities, participants will compete in four categories based on their average daily cycling distance:
- 0-10 km/day
- 10-20 km/day
- 20-60 km/day
- 60+ km/day
In each category, we will reward the top 5 users (both male and female) with incentives distributed via Cardano tokens. This gamified approach encourages sustained participation, while offering an exciting competitive element.
Engagement: Our project is designed to engage not just athletes or fitness enthusiasts but everyday people who use bikes for commuting or leisure. By incentivizing a wide range of users, we promote inclusivity and expand the reach of cycling as a viable mode of transport.
Impact: The system will directly reduce CO2 emissions by motivating more individuals to cycle regularly instead of using cars or public transportation. We will measure this impact through in-app tracking of distances cycled and corresponding CO2 savings. By rewarding users with Cardano tokens, we integrate blockchain technology into sustainable urban mobility, introducing users to the Cardano ecosystem while promoting environmentally friendly practices.
Why This Matters to Cardano: This project will drive engagement with Cardano-based rewards, introducing blockchain technology to an eco-conscious audience while supporting sustainability goals. It represents a practical use case for Cardano, showcasing its real-world utility beyond traditional blockchain applications, which will ultimately grow the Cardano ecosystem.
This project is unique because it combines environmental goals with blockchain rewards, bridging the gap between urban sustainability and decentralized technology in an inclusive and engaging way.
[IMPACT] Please define the positive impact your project will have on the wider Cardano community
Our project will introduce everyday users to the Cardano ecosystem through a rewarding system that incentivizes sustainable cycling. By leveraging Cardano tokens for rewards, we will drive user adoption of the Cardano blockchain while promoting environmental sustainability through cycling. This will create real-world utility for Cardano and increase its visibility among a diverse, eco-conscious audience.
Measuring Impact:
- Quantitative Metrics:
- Cycling Activity: Track the total distance cycled by users, the number of active participants, the number of bike rides and their CO2 savings.
- Cardano Token Adoption: Measure the number of Cardano tokens distributed to users as rewards.
- City Engagement: Monitor the number of users in the five selected European cities, reflecting increased cycling participation.
- Qualitative Metrics:
- User Feedback: Collect feedback on the app's usability, the effectiveness of the rewards, and the impact on cycling behavior.
- Community Involvement: Track the voting process for selecting cities and gather insights from the Cardano community about their engagement.
Sharing Outputs:
- Community Updates: Regular updates through social media, the Bikademy app, and Cardano community channels.
- Public Reports: Publish data on CO2 savings, cycling activity, and Cardano token distribution.
- Engagement in Cardano Events: Present impact reports at Cardano community events, fostering further collaboration and showcasing the value of Cardano-based solutions for sustainability.
By rewarding cycling with Cardano tokens, this project not only promotes eco-friendly transportation but also increases awareness and adoption of the Cardano ecosystem, ultimately supporting its growth and impact in real-world applications.
[CAPABILITY & FEASIBILITY] What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability? How do you intend to validate if your approach is feasible?
Existing capabilities:
- Proven track record: Bikademy already has a fully functional Web2 mobile app with active users and partnerships. This includes integrated features that track cycling activities and measure CO2 savings. We have established partnerships with businesses and local authorities to promote cycling initiatives.
- B2B experience: Bikademy has developed features that reward employees for commuting by bike and promote cycling events, helping us understand how to engage both individuals and companies in sustainability-focused initiatives.
- Technical expertise: Our team has a strong background in app development and incentive systems.
- Community engagement: Bikademy already has a user base of users and a strong relationship with urban cycling communities. We have experience in motivating and growing this community.
Feasibility:
- Blockchain integration: We will work closely with Cardano developers to ensure smooth integration of Cardano rewards and tokenomics into the Bikademy app.
- User adoption: We already have a growing base of users who are engaged in the app’s current features. We have established a community-driven approach, ensuring that our solution will resonate with Cardano’s audience.
Trust and Accountability in Fund Management:
- Transparent fund allocation: We will maintain a transparent budget and report back to the Cardano community regularly. Detailed reports on spending, milestones, and outcomes will be shared on public platforms (e.g., GitHub, social media, Cardano forums).
- Milestone-based payment structure: Payments will be tied to clear milestones, with each phase of the project reviewed before funds are allocated for the next step. This ensures that every phase of development is completed before moving on to the next.
- Regular updates & feedback loops: We will regularly communicate progress through community channels, allowing the Cardano community to track the project’s evolution and provide feedback.
Long-term sustainability:
- Scalable solution: The project is designed to be scalable, both in terms of the number of cities and the expansion of features(e.g., integrating additional Cardano-based rewards or expanding to new regions).
- Revenue model: Beyond the grant funding, Bikademy has a business model that generates revenue through B2B partnerships and partnerships with city authorities. This will allow us to sustain and grow the platform long after the grant period. Also, we plan, after successful case study based on Cardano continue to develop Bikademy Cardano-based token and NFT incentive system.
