Our solution is the Cardano*Africa Localization Kit—a fully open-source toolkit that enables developers to easily localize Cardano-based dApps and interfaces for African users. It includes African language packs (e.g., Amharic, Swahili, Yoruba), culturally relevant UI/UX design templates, and integration guides. This will empower African developers and make blockchain tools more accessible and inclusive, accelerating adoption across diverse communities.

What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability? How do you intend to validate if your approach is feasible?

We have deep experience working with African developers and localization teams, including from previous Cardano and Web3 projects. Edomiya Girmay has led impactful grassroots blockchain programs and incubation efforts. We will collaborate with experienced open-source developers and African linguists to ensure quality.

This project represents a strategic and high-impact investment in Cardano’s global inclusivity and developer adoption. Africa is home to hundreds of millions of non-English speakers, and language is a major barrier to entry in blockchain development. By localizing essential tools, documentation, and onboarding resources into major African languages such as Amharic, Afan Oromo, and Tigrigna, we directly expand Cardano’s developer base and ecosystem footprint in untapped regions.

The cost is aligned with regional realities:

Translation and developer work is priced based on fair local freelance rates (e.g., $300–$600/month for senior-level translators or developers in Ethiopia).

Community engagement, events, and marketing are budgeted at grassroots-friendly rates to ensure wide participation while remaining cost-effective.

The project eliminates redundant costs by building open-source assets reusable by other African and global communities.

Additionally, the value extends beyond localization — this project creates reusable language kits, builds regional developer capacity, and sets the foundation for localized wallets, dApps, and education platforms. The deliverables will be fully open-source under a permissive license, allowing any Cardano project to adopt and build upon them, multiplying the impact across the ecosystem.
