There is a lack of production-ready, open-source smart contracts on Cardano for complex RealFi workflows. Most developers must start from scratch, slowing down innovation and adoption.
We propose open-sourcing Reafino SmartStarter’s production-ready smart contracts with docs, giving Cardano developers ready-to-use, field-tested RealFi primitives for crowdfunding and pooled capital.
This is the total amount allocated to Open Sourcing Reafino SmartStarter Smart Contracts.

Smart Contracts
Mention your open source license and describe your open source license rationale.
We will release Reafino SmartStarter contracts under the Apache 2.0 license. This permissive license encourages adoption like MIT, while adding explicit patent protection for contributors and users. It ensures developers can safely reuse, adapt, and commercialize the contracts, fostering a robust RealFi ecosystem on Cardano without legal uncertainties.
How do you make sure your source code is accessible to the public from project start, and people are informed?
All code will be hosted on a public GitHub repo from day one, ensuring transparency and open access. The repository will be linked on our website, litepaper, and shared via social channels and community forums. This guarantees that developers, voters, and the wider Cardano community can track progress and access the latest version at any time.
How will you provide high quality documentation?
We will deliver developer-friendly documentation maintained alongside the codebase. This includes README guides, code comments, API references, deployment scripts, and real-world usage examples. Tutorials and walkthroughs will be added to support onboarding. Our goal is for any Cardano developer to quickly deploy, test, and extend SmartStarter contracts with confidence.

About Reafino platform and SmartStarter
Reafino is a RealFi dApp on Cardano, designed to bring real-world economic activity on-chain. Its vision is to enable hundreds of real-world initiatives to thrive through blockchain-powered finance catalyzing millions in value flow and inclusive prosperity. Reafino is structured into four product segments:
SmartStarter - all-or-nothing crowdfunding for pooled capital.
SmartPlay - fully on-chain games with a RealFi angle
SmartHedge - event-linked insurance products.
SmartShares - decentralized equity and community-driven investment.
You can read in detail in the Reafino Litepaper: https://reafino.io/reafino_litepaper.pdf
You can also try out SmartStarter on the public testnet to experience its functionality firsthand: https://reafino.io/dashboard
The focus of this proposal is SmartStarter, Reafino’s first product module. It is a fully on-chain, trustless, and permissionless smart contract suite that enables complex workflows for crowdfunding and pooled capital management. SmartStarter follows an all-or-nothing funding model: projects only receive funds if their targets are met; otherwise contributors are automatically refunded.
This design guarantees fairness and transparency without intermediaries or admin keys. More than a simple crowdfunding tool, SmartStarter showcases end to end smart contract workflow designed for production without bottlenecks or centralized control.
We will release the full SmartStarter contracts under the Apache 2.0 license, ensuring open and safe reuse across the Cardano ecosystem. The release will include:
What makes it innovative
SmartStarter goes far beyond a simple crowdfunding demo. It introduces advanced, production-grade features such as:
Why it matters for Cardano
Cardano currently lacks open, production-ready smart contracts for real-world workflows. Most existing examples are prototypes or narrow in scope.
SmartStarter fills this gap by offering a battle-tested contract suite that demonstrates how to design resilient, high-throughput RealFi workflows.
Developers, entrepreneurs, and researchers can use it as a foundation for: Community crowdfunding platforms, Cooperative finance tools, Micro-investment schemes, NGO or community grant distribution, Event- or milestone-linked fund releases

About SmartStarter
SmartStarter is Reafino’s first product: a fully on-chain, trustless, and permissionless smart contract suite that implements advanced workflows for crowdfunding and pooled capital. It supports all-or-nothing funding, automatic refunds, and multi-asset support. Unlike simple demo contracts, SmartStarter is designed for real-world scale: no admin keys, no intermediaries, and optimized to scale throughput to max utilisation of available block space on Cardano.
Open sourcing the Reafino SmartStarter smart contracts will deliver transformative benefits for the Cardano community, both in the immediate term and in the long run.
Production-Ready Contracts for Everyone:
Strengthening Cardano’s RealFi Ecosystem
Lowering Barriers & Spreading Best Practices
Demonstrating Cardano’s Maturity
Encouraging a Culture of Contribution
Long-Term Ripple Effects
In summary, this proposal combines ecosystem benefit with team sustainability. By funding the open sourcing of SmartStarter, the Cardano community gains a production-ready RealFi contract suite and establishes a culture of openness, while the Reafino team is fairly compensated for self-funded work and enabled to keep building the next product segment that advances Cardano even further.
What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability? How do you intend to validate if your approach is feasible?
Capabilities
The contracts are already developed, tested, and deployed on Cardano public testnet. Our team has deep expertise in Plutus/Aiken smart contracts, frontend integration, and Cardano infrastructure. The remaining effort is focused on packaging the codebase, licensing, creating developer documentation, and publishing open tutorials.
Feasibility
Risk is minimal as this is not speculative development - the product is on the public testnet and works today. Catalyst support ensures its sustainable release for community benefit as well as support our teams new development work.
Milestone Title
Open-Source Repository Preparation & Public Release
Milestone Outputs
In this first milestone we will prepare the SmartStarter contracts for open-source release. The goal is to ensure the code is production-ready, legally safe for reuse, and accessible to the wider Cardano community.
Outputs:
By the end of this milestone, the ecosystem will have direct access to a production-ready, trustless, and permissionless contract suite, representing one of the first fully open RealFi-grade contract releases on Cardano. This milestone sets the foundation for further developer documentation, tutorials, and community adoption efforts.

Budget
This budget represents partial compensation for the six months of self-funded work by the Reafino team to design, build, and test SmartStarter into a production-ready, fully on-chain, trustless, and permissionless contract suite.
Catalyst support will allow us to:
Cost Justification
Building SmartStarter was a six-month, self-funded effort. Designing a production-ready, fully on-chain, trustless, and permissionless contract suite for complex workflows required significant time and expertise. Comparable work from qualified teams would command far higher budgets.
The 30,000 ADA request is intentionally modest - it represents only partial compensation for the effort already delivered.
Equally important, this amount will be reinvested directly into further product development. As outlined in our litepaper, Reafino envisions four RealFi product segments. SmartStarter is the first; the next segments are already being designed. Catalyst support here allows us to sustain momentum and continue the cycle of:
Build → Deploy → Share → Seek Catalyst support → Reinvest → Build again
This is an honorable ask in good faith. We have already delivered and proven our work before seeking support. Funding this proposal ensures that SmartStarter is open-sourced for the benefit of all Cardano developers, while empowering our team to advance the next RealFi modules that will broaden adoption and utility for the ecosystem.
How does the cost of the project represent value for the Cardano ecosystem?
This proposal offers strong value for Cardano by turning six months of self-funded work into a shared, open-source asset. For a modest one-time cost, the community gains audited, production-ready RealFi contracts that can be reused, forked, and extended indefinitely.
SmartStarter gives developers a strong starting base, saving them both time and money while encouraging new projects to flourish faster. It also sets an example showing that honest, self-funded work, delivered first and shared openly, will be rewarded.
By supporting this proposal, Catalyst not only secures a high-quality RealFi building block, but also sustains the Reafino team so we can keep contributing. Our next product modules are already in design, and this support ensures we can continue building in good faith, reinvesting back into the ecosystem.
In short: this is not just compensation, it’s a way for the community to invest in a cycle of open innovation that strengthens Cardano’s position as the blockchain for RealFi.
