Mention your open source license and describe your open source license rationale.
The MIT License offers a simple framework that maximizes freedom for developers and organizations. It allows anyone to use, modify and integrate the Datum Explorer without restrictions, while still preserving attribution. Its clarity and minimal legal overhead encourage adoption and foster innovation within the Cardano ecosystem.
How do you make sure your source code is accessible to the public from project start, and people are informed?
From the start, all source code will be publicly available on GitHub, enabling free use, modification, and integration. Development will be transparent, with open commits and pull requests. Updates will be shared through the Catalyst program, WingRiders Twitter, Discord, and other communication channels.
How will you provide high quality documentation?
Documentation will be maintained in the open-source repository, updated alongside each feature release. It will include clear usage guides, API references, annotated examples, and contribution instructions. Both technical and non-technical users will have access to step-by-step tutorials, screenshots, and demo videos to ensure easy adoption and community contributions.Documentation updates and usage guides will accompany feature releases, ensuring accessibility for both technical and non-technical users.
Please describe your proposed solution and how it addresses the problem
We propose to finalize and deploy Rapid DEX as a mainnet-ready decentralized exchange protocol, enabling direct, trustless interactions with liquidity pools—without reliance on third-party routers or intermediaries. The protocol builds on our working prototype and introduces a modular, opt-in architecture, empowering pool creators, liquidity providers, and integrators to tailor pool behavior according to their needs.
As part of this proposal, we commit to delivering at least 3 out of the following 5 protocol-level features, each designed to improve decentralization, composability, and capital efficiency:
Flexible Fee Configuration
Pool creators can define:
Zap In / Zap Out
Users can provide or withdraw liquidity using a single token, simplifying LP participation and improving UX.
Built-in Treasury Support
Enables routing a portion of swap fees to an optional project or DAO treasury, with logic opt-in per pool.
Atomic Routed Swaps
Enables multi-hop swaps (e.g., A → B → C) in a single transaction using multiple pool UTxOs. This improves liquidity access for long-tail assets.
Limit Orders
A separate smart contract holds user funds with target price conditions. These orders can be partially or fully fulfilled by counterparties who include both the pool and the limit order UTxOs in their swap transaction.
Aside from protocol-level features, we will package and document a complete Software Development Kit (SDK) to make Rapid DEX easily integrable by wallets, aggregators, and third-party applications.
The SDK will include:
We will also provide the example usage in the frontend application.
The SDK will be a standalone deliverable and serves as a major milestone toward third-party adoption, even beyond the lifespan of this proposal.
By the end of this project, Rapid DEX will be a mainnet-ready, modular, and fully open-source DEX protocol, allowing anyone to launch and manage liquidity pools in a permissionless way, with strong developer support and a focus on long-term ecosystem integration.
Building on our successfully delivered Rapid DEX PoC, we are taking the next step toward a mainnet-ready, fully decentralized exchange for Cardano. This upgrade adds key features—customizable fees, optional project treasuries, zap-in/zap-out liquidity management, atomic routed swaps, and a production-ready SDK—while preserving the speed, low costs, and simplicity that set Rapid DEX apart. By removing intermediaries, reducing integration complexity, and giving projects more control over their liquidity, we will create a sustainable, efficient trading environment that strengthens Cardano’s DeFi competitiveness. With an experienced team, proven delivery record, and a clear execution roadmap, we are ready to deploy a reference implementation that aligns fully with Cardano’s decentralized ethos.
Please define the positive impact your project will have on the wider Cardano community
Building on the proven Rapid DEX PoC, this upgrade will deliver faster, cheaper, and more flexible decentralized trading on Cardano, increasing throughput, reducing costs, and deepening ecosystem liquidity. It will preserve the tested advantages of batcher-free swaps and factory-free pool creation, while adding new capabilities that expand functionality, improve integration, and support sustainable economics.
DeFi Traders keep the core benefits of the PoC—fast execution and lower swap costs without reclaim flows—and gain new routing mechanisms for multi-hop trades in a single transaction, broadening liquidity access and reducing overall costs.
Liquidity Providers continue to enjoy direct pool interaction and flexible participation, now with zap-in/zap-out for simplified management and per-direction fee settings to fine-tune pool performance.
Token Issuers already benefit from pool creation without factory dependencies, lowering integration complexity; the upgrade adds optional treasury splits to route swap fees toward incentives or development.
DEX Aggregators and Wallets maintain the simple, standardized integration of the PoC but gain atomic routed swaps, allowing better price paths and execution in a single transaction.
Developers and Integrators receive a new, production-ready SDK with builders, type-safe bindings, and examples to accelerate and secure integrations.
ADA Holders benefit from a more competitive, liquid DeFi layer, while Stake Pool Operators gain from higher transaction volumes and greater network activity.
As a public MIT-licensed reference implementation, Rapid DEX will serve as a model for future decentralized liquidity protocols on Cardano. Impact will be tracked via pool creation rates, swap volumes, adoption metrics, and treasury inflows, all published on a public dashboard.
What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability? How do you intend to validate if your approach is feasible?
The WingRiders engineering team has a proven track record in delivering production-grade blockchain infrastructure. From building Adalite and Emurgo’s first explorer/indexer to leading the development of WingRiders DEX and Launchpad, our team has the experience to handle complex DeFi projects. The feasibility of Rapid DEX is validated through an existing testnet prototype. Our phased approach ensures early verification of key features, minimizing technical risks while enabling agile adaptations. Comprehensive testing and audit processes will secure the final deployment.

How does the cost of the project represent value for the Cardano ecosystem?
The requested budget aligns with market-standard development costs for blockchain DeFi protocols. Given our existing infrastructure and reusable components, we are able to deliver a full-scale DEX upgrade at an efficient cost. The value to the ecosystem comes not only from the features themselves but also from the open-source, modular approach that allows further community-driven extensions. Our transparent development and documentation practices will ensure long-term utility beyond the initial deployment, creating a valuable foundation for Cardano DeFi.
