Please describe your proposed solution and how it addresses the problem
Brazilian agribusiness represents nearly 24% of national GDP and more than USD 160 billion in annual exports. Despite its scale and complexity, blockchain adoption in the sector remains fragmented, poorly documented, and often disconnected from real-world needs. Cooperatives, exporters, start-ups, and public agencies experiment with proofs of concept, but there is no unified diagnosis that shows where adoption is happening, what the maturity levels are, or which value chains hold the highest potential for Cardano. This lack of clarity creates three bottlenecks: fragmented information, decisions made without evidence, and risk of duplication or critical gaps.
Proposed Solution
Our project proposes the creation of the Blockchain Adoption Map for Brazilian Agribusiness, as the first phase of the broader CardanoAgro LATAM Hub. This initial phase will run for 6 months and focus on delivering a concrete knowledge asset that will serve as a foundation for the Hub’s regional expansion. The key components are:
Why this Approach
We believe this approach is the most effective because it addresses the problem at its root: the absence of reliable, systematized data. Instead of proposing isolated pilots or marketing campaigns, we will first create a strategic diagnosis that helps the entire ecosystem avoid waste, prioritize high-impact opportunities, and build partnerships with credibility. By starting in Brazil—Latin America’s largest agricultural market—we maximize the relevance and scalability of the findings.
Who We Engage
The project will engage:
Demonstrating Impact
Impact will be demonstrated through tangible, verifiable outputs:
Metrics will include:
Uniqueness of the Solution
This proposal is unique because it does not seek to replicate what others are doing in isolation. Instead, it builds a public good: a shared repository of market intelligence that reduces costs, prevents duplication, and accelerates adoption for everyone in the Cardano ecosystem. The combination of structured research, institutional partnerships, and open dissemination ensures that results are both credible and widely reusable.
Who Benefits
Importance for Cardano
Agribusiness is a high-volume, high-value industry with growing global demand for transparency, traceability, and sustainability. By positioning Cardano as the blockchain of reference in this sector, the ecosystem gains both economic traction and reputational strength. Even modest adoption of Cardano in Brazilian agribusiness could represent millions in transaction value, new wallets, and increased staking power, directly reinforcing the Treasury that sustains Cardano’s innovation cycles.
This proposal lays the foundation for the CardanoAgro LATAM Hub, starting with Brazil. By creating the first Blockchain Adoption Map for Agribusiness, we provide Cardano with a strategic compass to allocate resources effectively, secure partnerships, and demonstrate real-world impact in one of Latin America’s most influential sectors. The outcome is a lasting public good that positions Cardano as the blockchain of choice for agribusiness in Brazil and, in the future, across the entire LATAM region.
Please define the positive impact your project will have on the wider Cardano community
This project directly addresses one of the greatest challenges faced by the Cardano ecosystem: achieving real-world adoption in strategic industries. By delivering the first Blockchain Adoption Map for Brazilian Agribusiness, available in Portuguese, Spanish, and English, the project will provide a public good that benefits the entire community.
The agribusiness sector is Brazil’s economic engine, representing nearly 24% of GDP and USD 160 billion in exports. Demonstrating Cardano’s relevance in such a high-value industry gives the ecosystem visibility, legitimacy, and traction among global stakeholders. Even modest adoption in this market can translate into millions in on-chain value, greater transaction volume, and a stronger Treasury.
In the long term, the CardanoAgro LATAM Hub will extend this impact regionally, creating opportunities in multiple countries where agriculture plays a central role in the economy.
How Success Brings Value to the Cardano Community
Measuring Impact
Impact will be measured through verifiable, objective indicators directly connected to the project’s outputs and stakeholder engagement:
How Outputs and Opportunities Will Be Shared
Conclusion
This project generates impact by combining knowledge, credibility, and strategic positioning. It gives Cardano the tools to make smarter funding decisions, empowers builders with real data, and establishes the first LATAM Hub focused on agribusiness. By anchoring the ecosystem in Brazil’s largest economic sector, Cardano gains a visible, sustainable path to adoption that will later expand across Latin America.
What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability? How do you intend to validate if your approach is feasible?
The successful execution of previous initiatives — including the Intersect Education and Multimedia Grant and the Cardano Community Hub in Brazil funded by Catalyst Fund 13 — demonstrates the solid foundation of trust, accountability, and delivery capacity established by Daniela Alves and Maria Carmo.
Both have a proven track record in the Cardano community, deep expertise in decentralized governance, and the ability to lead impactful projects that combine educational outreach with strategic partnerships. Their experience ensures not only the capacity to execute but also to manage resources transparently and deliver measurable results.
Additionally, Daniela, Maria, and Charmaine bring valuable experience from the execution of the Agro Hub under the DeepFunding program of SingularityNET. While operating with a smaller scope due to limited budget, this initiative successfully established a partnership with LigaAgro of FIA Business School and initiated a collaborative relationship with the Andean Development Corporation (CAF). This demonstrates their ability to deliver meaningful impact even under constrained resources, while strategically expanding connections across the Latin American region.

How does the cost of the project represent value for the Cardano ecosystem?
The proposed budget represents strategic value for the Cardano ecosystem because it is directly tied to building knowledge, engagement, and visibility infrastructure in critical sectors such as agribusiness and decentralized governance. Instead of dispersing resources into short-term actions, the project invests in establishing a structured foundation of activities, with concrete deliverables (platform, reports, workshops, articles) that will remain useful to the community even after completion.
The amounts were calculated according to both Brazilian and international market realities, balancing cost efficiency with quality. Team compensation aligns with senior consultancy rates in Brazil (on average, $25–40/hour), still significantly below the typical cost in developed markets. This ensures a high cost-benefit ratio for the ecosystem, as it secures experienced professionals in governance, agribusiness, and blockchain at competitive rates.
Each allocated resource serves a specific and necessary function: leadership and methodology to maintain strategic standards, field specialists to provide legitimacy and access to local communities, translators to expand international reach, as well as technology and communication to consolidate outcomes. The inclusion of a contingency reserve demonstrates responsible planning, kept under 10% of the total, ensuring security without inflating costs.
In summary, the cost is justified not only in proportion to market benchmarks but, above all, by its impact: consolidating Cardano’s presence in one of Latin America’s most relevant economic sectors, creating new adoption opportunities, institutional partnerships, and entry into public policy discussions. It is a mid-term investment that strengthens the network’s visibility, expands its legitimacy, and positions the ecosystem as a reference in responsible innovation.
