Carbon sequestration data is rarely transparent, verifiable, or tamper-proof, slowing trust, funding, and integration with climate finance systems. Certificates are often fragmented and hard to audit.
Use Bôndy biomass data to calculate CO₂ via Gold Standard methods, tokenize results in batch form on Cardano, store certificates on IPFS, and airdrop samples to strategic climate finance networks.

Sustainability
Describe what makes your idea innovative compared to what has been previously funded (whether by you or others).
First blockchain-certified carbon sequestration workflow using Gold Standard methodology, aggregated batch tokenization, and immutable IPFS storage. Delivers cryptographically verifiable carbon results with open methodology, enabling NGOs and project developers to replicate the process without expensive intermediaries, fostering transparency and trust across the carbon market value chain.
Describe what your prototype or MVP will demonstrate, and where it can be accessed.
A live MVP that ingests real biomass data, calculates CO₂ using Gold Standard formulas, batches results into tokens, stores certificates on IPFS, and links metadata to Cardano tokens. Results are displayed in a public blockchain-linked gallery, demonstrating transparent, verifiable carbon accounting. Accessible via a hosted gallery platform.
Describe realistic measures of success, ideally with on-chain metrics.
On-chain certification of ≥20 carbon batch tokens with linked IPFS certificates; launch of a public results gallery; airdrop to ≥3 targeted non-Cardano climate finance networks; published methodology enabling replication; positive engagement from NGOs, registries, or carbon market players expressing interest in adapting the system.
Please describe your proposed solution and how it addresses the problem
Carbon sequestration claims are increasingly scrutinized for lack of transparency, leaving many projects accused of “greenwashing.”
Certificates are fragmented, hard to audit, and often unverifiable.
Bôndy already collects geo-referenced biomass data from Madagascar’s mangroves, but today these results remain internal and difficult for outsiders to validate.
By applying Gold Standard biomass-to-carbon methods and anchoring results on Cardano, Bondy and Modus Create will deliver the first blockchain-certified carbon sequestration workflow for mangroves.
This provides verifiable, auditable proof that can be trusted by climate finance networks, NGOs, and registries.
Workflow:
Why this is unique:
This is the first blockchain-anchored carbon verification using Gold Standard methodology with aggregated tokenization, ensuring credibility without the complexity of per-ton issuance. Immutable IPFS storage provides independent verifiability.
Proof of impact:
At least 20 carbon batch tokens will be minted on Cardano with certificates accessible via IPFS.
This demonstrates a scalable path toward transparent, science-backed carbon credit systems that can be adopted by registries and climate finance institutions.
Please define the positive impact your project will have on the wider Cardano community
This project demonstrates how Cardano can underpin transparent, science-backed carbon accounting, attracting credibility in the climate finance sector. By engaging NGOs and sustainability stakeholders outside the Cardano ecosystem, it expands awareness and adoption potential.
Ecosystem benefits:
What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability? How do you intend to validate if your approach is feasible?
Bôndy is a Madagascar-based environmental organization focused on mangrove restoration and community-driven conservation. The team has restored over 1,000 hectares of mangroves and planted more than 2 million trees, working directly with coastal communities to ensure long-term stewardship. Bondy’s approach integrates ecological restoration with socio-economic benefits, employing local people for planting, monitoring, and site management. Their technical capacity includes drone-based mapping, GPS-referenced plot tracking, and ecological surveys to monitor survival rates and habitat recovery. Bondy has collaborated with regional NGOs, academic researchers, and government agencies to develop restoration best practices tailored to Madagascar’s coastal ecosystems.
Modus Create has been tackling tough engineering challenges since 2013 and contributing to the Cardano ecosystem since 2018, leading work in security audits, protocol design, consensus evolution, and core ledger systems. The company’s team has delivered foundational improvements to the network while maintaining a focus on open collaboration, technical rigor, and solutions that serve the broader community. This hands-on experience in one of the world’s most innovative blockchain ecosystems has shaped Modus Create’s approach to solving complex problems and delivering sustainable, production-grade results.
A global product engineering and consulting firm partnered with Atlassian, AWS, and GitHub, Modus Create combines high-level strategy with deep technical execution. Its expertise spans blockchain integration, NFT platforms, tokenization frameworks, wallet solutions, and smart contract-enabled applications for both enterprise and public networks. Beyond blockchain, the company has developed advanced geospatial mapping tools that integrate GIS data into accessible, interactive applications, and delivered solutions across finance, environmental conservation, and digital commerce. Whether modernizing legacy systems, launching Web3 products, or designing mission-critical infrastructure, Modus Create helps organizations and ecosystems like Cardano reach their full potential.
