Does your project have any dependencies on other organizations, technical or otherwise?
Yes
Describe any dependencies or write 'No dependencies'
Our platform depends on collaboration with third-party carbon offset verification agencies that validate credit authenticity. We are also pursuing ESG data partnerships and legal consultation for global compliance. Letters of intent are in progress to reduce risk.
Will your project's outputs be fully open source?
Yes
License and Additional Information
This project will use an Apache 2.0 license. All code, including smart contracts, backend, and front-end, will be open-source and hosted on GitHub. Development will be transparent with regular commits and documentation.

Describe what makes your idea innovative compared to what has been previously funded (whether by you or others).
We propose the first verified carbon bond platform on Cardano, moving beyond basic tokenization by integrating ESG compliance, real-time analytics, and programmable smart contract mechanics for verifiable climate finance. With attention to compute metrices from BTC minning, SPO validation and general developer activity from devices powered clean, green energy.
Describe what your prototype or MVP will demonstrate, and where it can be accessed.
Our MVP will feature a testnet platform with smart contract-powered bond issuance, native asset integration, and third-party verifier input. The prototype will be tested with clean energy partners in various countries and any Catalyst community volunteers who have clean energy sources that power devices.
Describe realistic measures of success, ideally with on-chain metrics.
We aim to onboard 10–25 participants from various jurisdictions, mint 100+ carbon bonds, and process 50,000+ ADA. The system will log all issuance, payment processing, and validation transactions directly on Cardano.
Please describe your proposed solution and how it addresses the problem
The Carbon Credit Bond Platform will serve as a decentralized infrastructure enabling clean energy providers to convert verified carbon credits into blockchain-native financial instruments. Each Carbon Credit Bond (CCB) represents a tokenized unit of verified environmental offset, structured to meet compliance, traceability, and liquidity requirements.
The platform will empower providers to mint and tokenize carbon bonds that are tied to third-party certifications and project metadata. These bonds can be traded, held, or staked by institutional and retail investors via Cardano native assets, creating a fluid market for environmental finance. Bond lifecycle events, such as issuance, transfer, maturity, and retirement, will be handled via programmable smart contracts.
Users will benefit from a transparent interface to monitor credit origin, usage rights, and real-time ESG impact metrics. A dedicated compliance engine will integrate with oracle services to sync updates from environmental registries and verification agencies, ensuring ongoing transparency and reducing greenwashing risks.
The current state of the global CCB market is one of fragmentation and is perfectly situated for evolution.
Please define the positive impact your project will have on the wider Cardano community
This project will significantly increase Cardano’s on-chain utility by onboarding clean energy providers, environmental verifiers, and ESG-focused investors into its ecosystem. By offering a fully traceable, standards-aligned method of tokenizing carbon credits, we aim to build trust in blockchain-based sustainability finance. The platform supports climate goals, expands the scope of impact investing, and delivers measurable results directly tied to blockchain transactions.
The project serves as a critical step in aligning decentralized infrastructure with global ESG standards. It creates a new financial rail for funding sustainability initiatives while showcasing Cardano's technical capacity and environmental leadership. Open access to analytics and transaction records will build transparency, and our commitment to open-source will allow replication and adoption by other projects in the community.
We also expect this platform to foster new collaborations between Cardano developers, clean energy innovators, and global NGOs working in climate resilience and carbon offsetting. By transforming carbon credit markets into liquid, accessible instruments, we catalyze climate-positive finance at scale.
Quantitative KPIs:
100+ Carbon Credit Bonds minted within Year 1
10–15 energy providers onboarded
5,000+ transactions processed
3+ third-party compliance integrations
Qualitative Metrics:
Direct feedback from ESG investors and environmental organizations
Open-source engagement (repo forks, contributors, re-use in other Catalyst proposals)
Community exposure via conference presentations, podcasts, and social media reach
All impact reports, technical progress, and ecosystem insights will be publicly shared via GitHub, Medium blogs, X (Twitter) threads, and Catalyst town halls.
What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability? How do you intend to validate if your approach is feasible?
