DigiFarm Credit & Climate Passport

Problem

Smallholder farmers lack verifiable identity and trusted farm data. This makes them "invisible" to lenders and insurers, blocking their access to credit, insurance, and premium markets.

Solution

Link FieldNFTs to farmer DIDs, add FieldScore credit and parametric insurance oracles, and integrate Landano/Commonlands/ZenGate to unlock finance, protection, and traceability on Cardano.

About this idea

Team

Our team structure is designed to deliver this multi-faceted project, combining our core expertise in Agri-AI with world-class Cardano development partners and on-the-ground operational capacity.

DigiFarm Core Team:

  • Nils Helset (Project Lead): As CEO and a 15th-generation farmer, Nils will oversee the entire program, manage strategic partnerships, ensure compliance, and be the primary point of accountability for delivering on the project's vision.
  • Data Science Lead: Will lead the design and implementation of the FieldScore model, including feature engineering, normalization, and validation against our extensive historical datasets, Santiago Nullo, Head of Engineering (GIS).
  • Backend/API Engineer: Responsible for developing the REST services for the FieldScore engine, authentication, rate-limiting, monitoring, and CI/CD pipelines, Girish Pallagatti, Head of Infrastructure.
  • Frontend Engineer: Will design and build the user-facing components, including the DID claim UX, the lender dashboard, and the user interface for the provenance demonstrations, Leonardo Ibarra, PM.

Ecosystem Partners and Technical Leads:

  • Blockchain Leads (NMKR Studio & Blockia Labs): Our confirmed and long-standing technical partners will lead all on-chain development. Their senior engineers will be responsible for the Plutus smart contracts (for insurance and loan evaluation), DID binding mechanisms, and the oracle posting services. Their unparalleled experience on Cardano ensures a secure, scalable, and best-practice implementation.
  • Partner Liaisons: This role will manage the technical integration points with our planned ecosystem partners (Landano, Commonlands, ZenGate), ensuring our schemas and APIs are designed for seamless interoperability.

Field Operations:

  • Field Ops (Kenya/Tanzania): A dedicated team lead will manage the on-the-ground pilot with 100+ farmers, overseeing the onboarding process, farmer consent for data usage, and the collection of user feedback through structured surveys and workshops. This ensures our solution is not just technically sound but also practically useful and adopted by the end-users.
