Describe what makes your idea innovative compared to what has been previously funded (whether by you or others).
Litera is unique because it brings literature, poetry, and audio storytelling into Web3, an area largely untouched in previous Cardano proposals. While past projects focused on DeFi, NFTs, or art, few addressed African literary creatives who struggle with IP protection, global reach, and fair pay. By merging blockchain with literature, it pioneers a new cultural vertical for Cardano, expanding adoption beyond finance and visual art into voice, words, and stories.
Describe what your prototype or MVP will demonstrate, and where it can be accessed.
Our MVP will demonstrate a functional Cardano-powered publishing vault where writers can upload works, secure ownership on-chain, and mint simple NFTs. It will include wallet integration for ADA tips/payments and a beta community portal. This prototype will be accessible as a public beta web app (mobile-first) with test content from early adopters. It showcases IP protection, creator monetization, and cultural storytelling secured by Cardano.
Describe realistic measures of success, ideally with on-chain metrics.
Success will be measured by tangible adoption metrics on Cardano.
Key indicators include: number of works registered on-chain, NFTs minted, and ADA transactions processed. In 12 months we target 1,000 writers onboarded, 500 works secured, 200 NFT-backed pieces minted, and ₳150,000+ in transaction volume.
Additional success measures include active community engagement (meetups, collaborations) and growth of African voices represented globally through the platform.
Please describe your proposed solution and how it addresses the problem
Proposed Solution
African writers, poets, and composers are some of the most talented storytellers in the world, but most lack platforms that truly protect their intellectual property or allow them to earn fairly from their work. Existing platforms focus on global markets, often ignore African voices, and rarely provide tools that guarantee ownership or authenticity. As a result, many creatives remain unseen, underpaid, or vulnerable to plagiarism.
Litera is a Cardano-powered platform designed to change that. It is a digital home where African literary creatives can:
1. Publish their work (text or audio): Writers and poets can share their pieces with a global audience. Musicians or spoken word artists can upload their audio works.
2. Secure ownership on the blockchain: Every piece uploaded will be registered on Cardano, providing proof of authorship and time-stamped ownership. This helps prevent plagiarism and ensures creators are recognized as the rightful owners of their work.
3. Mint works as NFTs: Creatives will have the option to mint their poems, short stories, or audio works as NFTs. This creates digital collectibles that can be bought, sold, or traded, giving writers a new way to monetize their creativity.
4. Earn ADA payments: The platform integrates ADA payments so fans and readers can tip writers, buy exclusive works, or support projects directly. This provides a new, borderless income stream for African creatives who often lack access to global payment systems.
5. Build a community of voices: Beyond publishing, Litera Africa will be a community hub. Writers will be able to connect with other creatives, join meetups, collaborate across borders, and access resources to grow their craft. This sense of community is important because it helps sustain creativity and cultural exchange.
How This Addresses the Problem
• Protecting Intellectual Property (IP): Many African writers do not have access to formal copyright systems. By using Cardano, every creative work is registered on-chain, creating an unchangeable record of ownership. This reduces plagiarism and protects creators.
• Fair Monetization: Current platforms either don’t pay fairly or exclude African writers from global opportunities. With ADA payments and NFTs, creatives can earn directly without middlemen or high transaction costs.
• Global Visibility: Litera Africa creates a stage where African voices can reach global readers and audiences. Instead of being lost on generic platforms, African stories and poetry get a dedicated platform, making it easier to discover and celebrate unique cultural expressions.
• Onboarding into Cardano: Every writer or poet who joins the platform learns how to use a Cardano wallet, send/receive ADA, and interact with NFTs. This makes Cardano adoption practical, relatable, and tied to cultural creativity instead of just finance.
• Community Growth: Through workshops, training, and meetups, creatives learn, grow, and support one another. This strengthens Cardano’s presence in African creative industries and ensures adoption is not just individual, but community-based.
Why This Matters
What makes Litera different is that it applies blockchain technology to a problem that is very real in Africa but rarely addressed: how to protect and elevate the continent’s literary voices. While blockchain has been applied to finance, visual art, and gaming, almost no one has built a platform specifically for writers and poets.
By combining cultural heritage, creativity, and blockchain, Litera showcases Cardano’s ability to serve real people with real needs. It is innovative, practical, and impactful.
In one year, we expect:
• 1,000+ writers onboarded
• 500+ works registered on-chain
• 200+ NFTs minted from African poems, stories, or audio
• ₳150,000+ in ADA transactions
• Active community meetups and collaborations across African cities
Please define the positive impact your project will have on the wider Cardano community
Litera will expand Cardano’s reach into an entirely new and often overlooked sector: literature, poetry, and spoken word. While blockchain adoption in Africa is growing in finance, gaming, and visual art, the literary community millions of writers, poets, and composers across the continent, remains untapped. By engaging this creative industry, Litera Africa brings fresh users, stories, and culture directly into the Cardano ecosystem.
Every African creative who publishes on Litera Africa will need to use a Cardano wallet, understand ADA payments, and interact with NFTs. This means thousands of writers, readers, and fans will experience Cardano first-hand many for the first time. Instead of being introduced to blockchain through speculation or trading, they will see Cardano as a tool that empowers their creativity and protects their voice. This builds a more diverse, sustainable user base for the ecosystem.
Most people still see blockchain as only about money or technology. Litera proves that Cardano can power everyday human expression, culture, and heritage. By protecting intellectual property, enabling direct payments, and giving writers a global stage, the project demonstrates that Cardano is not just finance it’s a cultural and creative enabler. This strengthens Cardano’s identity as the blockchain for real-world use cases.
Africa has one of the fastest-growing creative economies in the world. By linking this economy with Cardano, the project attracts global attention to both African talent and Cardano’s technology. Investors, publishers, and audiences who want to engage with African literature will now do so through Cardano. This positions Cardano as the blockchain supporting Africa’s next cultural and economic wave.
The platform will generate measurable on-chain impact:
• NFTs minted: Each poem, story, or audio minted is a new NFT on Cardano.
• Transactions in ADA: Payments, tips, and NFT purchases increase ADA circulation.
• Wallets created: Writers and fans will open wallets to engage with the platform.
• Community engagement: Writers will participate in meetups, workshops, and global showcases, all tied to Cardano.
Litera creates partnerships between blockchain advocates, creative organizations, universities, and literary groups. This cross-sector collaboration strengthens Cardano’s presence in non-technical communities and spreads awareness far beyond traditional blockchain circles.
In summary:
The project’s impact is not just onboarding it’s broadening Cardano’s identity. By empowering African creatives, Litera positions Cardano as the blockchain of culture, inclusion, and everyday empowerment. This builds trust, adoption, and long-term growth for the wider Cardano community while giving African voices a stage the world cannot ignore.

• Open development: Using open-source principles where possible, allowing community review and input.
• Community feedback loops: Hosting feedback sessions with writers, poets, and cultural partners to validate usability and adoption.
Feasibility and Validation
We are approaching this project in phased, realistic steps:
1. Prototype (MVP): A simple platform allowing creatives to publish text/audio works, mint them as NFTs, and test ADA payments with a small pilot group.
2. Testing & Feedback: Piloting with select creative communities across Nigeria, Kenya, and Ghana to validate adoption, ease of use, and IP protection.
3. Scaling: Expanding features like meetups, resource hubs, and global showcases once the MVP proves functional and engaging.
Validation metrics:
• Minimum 200 creatives onboarded in the pilot phase.
• At least 1,000 ADA transactions (publishing, tipping, or sales) in 6 months.
• User satisfaction surveys from African literary communities.
By starting lean, focusing on real users, and building in public, we demonstrate feasibility without over-promising. Each milestone is measurable, achievable, and transparent to the Cardano community.
We have the skills, networks, and phased strategy to deliver Litera Africa responsibly. By validating with real creatives and sharing transparent results, we ensure feasibility while building trust with the Cardano ecosystem.

How does the cost of the project represent value for the Cardano ecosystem?
This project represents excellent value for the Cardano ecosystem because:
1. Unique & Untapped Sector – Cardano currently lacks a dedicated platform for African literary creatives. Litera Africa brings new demographics to the chain (writers, poets, composers) who rarely interact with blockchain.
2. On-Chain Impact – Every published work, NFT, and ADA transaction adds verifiable usage to Cardano.
3. Sustainable Growth – Revenue streams from NFT sales, ADA-based subscriptions, and community events ensure the platform is not grant-dependent long-term.
4. Scalable Model – While starting in Africa, this model can extend to global creatives, positioning Cardano as the chain for cultural IP and creative ownership.
For every ADA invested, Litera delivers both measurable on-chain adoption and long-term visibility for Cardano as a blockchain that empowers culture, not just finance.
