No
License and Additional Information
The project will be partially open sourced. The project’s methodology, metadata schema, and integration steps for the map viewer will be documented and published for adaptation by other organizations. Environment
Describe what makes your idea innovative compared to what has been previously funded (whether by you or others).
Bôndy introduces the first open, plot-based CIP-68 NFT verification system for ecological restoration on Cardano. Unlike Veritree’s proprietary, tree-level approach, this MVP tokenizes entire mangrove plots with rich metadata, enabling registry alignment, transparent public mapping, and replication by other NGOs. It is lightweight, field-tested, and designed for cost-effective adoption by smaller community-driven projects.
Describe what your prototype or MVP will demonstrate, and where it can be accessed.
The MVP will verify 50–100 mangrove plots in Madagascar, each with GPS coordinates, imagery, and restoration data, minted as CIP-68 NFTs and viewable on a public interactive map linked to Cardano blockchain records. It demonstrates the full workflow—data capture, metadata standardization, minting, display, and outreach—providing a tangible, on-chain proof of restoration that can be inspected and validated by any stakeholder.
Describe realistic measures of success, ideally with on-chain metrics.
Success will be measured by: number of plots verified/minted (target 50–100); ≥3 external communities reached via NFT airdrops; at least 2 organizations expressing adoption interest; volume of on-chain NFT transactions; feedback from outreach campaigns; and documented reuse of methodology by other restoration initiatives, indicating ecosystem uptake beyond Bondy’s operations.
Please describe your proposed solution and how it addresses the problem
Mangrove restoration is expanding rapidly, but proof of impact is often limited to internal dashboards or project reports that donors cannot independently verify.
This lack of transparency slows funding, undermines trust, and prevents smaller NGOs from adopting proven restoration practices.
Bondy addresses this gap by combining ecological expertise from Madagascar — where the team has already planted more than 2 million propagules across four coastal regions — with Modus Create’s deep experience in blockchain engineering and geospatial mapping.
Together, we will ensure that restoration data is captured, standardized, and anchored on Cardano in a way that can be trusted by any stakeholder.
Workflow:
Why this is unique:
Plot-level tokenization allows alignment with registries and scientific standards, while the methodology and selected components will be openly documented for replication.
By targeting non-Cardano audiences, the project expands visibility and adoption pathways.
Proof of impact:
NGOs and reforestation stakeholders will be able to directly anchor their data on-chain, demonstrating restoration activities with transparent, verifiable evidence for donors, funders, and research institutions.
Please define the positive impact your project will have on the wider Cardano community
This project showcases Cardano as a credible enabler of verifiable climate impact and expands its visibility to new audiences.
Ecosystem Benefits:
• Tangible showcase: live MVP for ecological verification.
• New audiences: targeted NFT airdrops to non-Cardano communities.
• Reusable framework: methodology adaptable to other environmental projects.
• Future-ready: plot-based registry integration potential.
• On-chain utility: transactions tied to measurable environmental outcomes.
• Scientific contribution: Open access to high-resolution drone and satellite imagery, ecological classifications, and standardized metadata will support research, AI model development, and innovation in restoration science.
• Stakeholder transparency: NGOs and reforestation actors can publicly prove their restoration activities on-chain, enhancing trust with field partners, donors, and funding agencies.
What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability? How do you intend to validate if your approach is feasible?
Bôndy is a Madagascar-based environmental organization focused on mangrove restoration and community-driven conservation.
The team has restored over 1,000 hectares of mangroves and planted more than 2 million trees, working directly with coastal communities to ensure long-term stewardship. Bondy’s approach integrates ecological restoration with socio-economic benefits, employing local people for planting, monitoring, and site management.
Their technical capacity includes drone-based mapping, GPS-referenced plot tracking, and ecological surveys to monitor survival rates and habitat recovery. Bondy has collaborated with regional NGOs, academic researchers, and government agencies to develop restoration best practices tailored to Madagascar’s coastal ecosystems.
