MLabs has forged impactful collaborations across the blockchain space and has assisted multiple ecosystem projects such as SundaeSwap, Minswap, Optim, Liqwid Finance, and IO through development and tooling contributions as part of broader Cardano community work. MLabs is well possitioned to take FeesaSwap's unique proposal to the next stage of development to scale out the remainder of work
Describe funding commitments.
MLabs is committing dedicated development resources to fully deliver the playrz.io platform according to the milestones we’ve defined. Funding will cover smart contract implementation, backend infrastructure, frontend development, mobile platform support, and promotion. Each milestone has clearly defined outputs, acceptance criteria, and evidence to ensure accountability. The total effort has been estimated and allocated to ensure the project reaches production-ready status, with contingency built in for testing, QA, and deployment.”
Describe your key performance metrics.
Success will be measured by user growth, aiming for 20,000+ beta testers in six months and 50,000–70,000 users in the first year; transaction volume, targeting 500,000–700,000 wagers per week; smart contract reliability and security; platform stability under high load; and active community engagement via wallet integrations and ecosystem partnerships.
Please describe your proposed solution and how it addresses the problem
Playrz is a community-first, responsible gaming, sports prediction platform, currently live on Arbitrum and preparing to migrate to Cardano. Instead of competing against a centralized operator, users face off against each other in peer-to-peer predictions with transparent, on-chain resolution and no hidden house edge.
At the core of Playrz is a sweepstakes-style game structure built around parlay wagering. Each “Game” corresponds to a real-world sporting event. Users buy fixed-price tickets and are presented with a “bingo card” of available parlay options and their associated odds. Players select a set of three predictions. After the event concludes, a decentralized oracle posts verified outcomes along with a ranked list of best-performing entries. The top 25% of players receive payouts - typically tripling their entry fee. Unique to the game structure is that players have the potential to enter competitions without losing their entry fee. This is achieved by staking their entry fee in a liquidity pool and thereby earning rewards which cover their entry fee. This creates the world’s first-ever, “no-loss” wagering game.
Unlike traditional prediction markets or tokenized casinos, Playrz is designed to encourage sustainable participation and fair competition. Gameplay mechanics are fully transparent, with provably fair odds and no ability for users to chase losses. Buy-ins are rate-limited to prevent users from overextending themselves, creating a safe, community-aligned environment.
The result is a blockchain-native experience that combines Cardano’s ethos of decentralization and fairness with the excitement of real-world sports. Polymarket has shown what predictions markets can do for Polygon but the significant global sports market remains relatively untapped in the blockchain environment to date. Playrz delivers skill-based gaming designed for broad participation, strategic depth, and long-term community growth while removing the addictive elements of wagering - a compelling proposition for an under-catered market.
Please define the positive impact your project will have on the wider Cardano community
Playrz will expand the reach of Cardano by onboarding new users from high-growth, underserved markets in India, Africa, Middle East and Southeast Asia—regions where sports fandom is thriving, mobile usage is exploding, and blockchain familiarity is rapidly increasing. By offering a responsible, skill-based gaming experience that resonates with local sports cultures, Playrz will serve as a gateway into Cardano for users who may have little to no prior exposure to the ecosystem.
We aim to significantly grow the Cardano user base by onboarding new users through an engaging, accessible platform, capitalizing on the booming interest in P2P interactive competitive entertainment. In particular, we will target:
Mass Adoption through Sports-Based Engagement: Sports prediction attracts a massive global audience, providing a compelling entry point to the Cardano ecosystem, particularly in the rapidly growing mobile gaming market of Africa. We project onboarding 50,000–70,000 new users to Cardano within the first year, each wagering $1 per game across 10 games per week. This translates to 500,000–700,000 weekly transactions, boosting Cardano’s transaction volume by approximately 2–3 million transactions monthly, assuming stable user engagement.
Community-Driven Engagement and Governance: Playrz will utilize social prediction pools and community-driven game moderation, empowering users and fostering decentralized governance. We will explore integrating with Cardano’s governance mechanisms, giving ADA holders a voice in the platform’s future development. This engagement will create a vibrant Playrz community that is also invested in the broader Cardano ecosystem.
Showcasing Cardano’s Strengths in Emerging Markets: Playrz’s initial focus on Africa, with plans to expand into the Middle East, then the USA, and Europe, will demonstrate Cardano’s ability to support real-world financial inclusion and gaming innovation. This will position Cardano as the blockchain of choice for ethical gaming solutions in emerging markets, attracting further development and investment to the Cardano ecosystem. For example, Polymarket, a prediction market on Polygon generated $3.3 billion in wagers on the 2024 U.S. election, driving Polygon’s visibility with 60+ markets and mainstream media coverage (e.g., Forbes, Wall Street Journal). Playrz aims to replicate this exposure for Cardano, leveraging Africa’s high P2P crypto volume (13% ownership in South Africa, 7% in Nigeria). We will actively share our experiences and successes in Africa with the Cardano community, contributing to the narrative of Cardano as a platform for positive global impact.
We will track and report on these metrics post-launch, contributing valuable data to the Cardano community.
What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability? How do you intend to validate if your approach is feasible?
This project brings together two highly complementary partners: J50 Ventures, a proven innovator in gamified sports products, and MLabs, one of the most trusted technical teams in the Cardano ecosystem.
J50 Ventures has spent the past three years building and refining gamified sports engagement products, including Playrz, which is already live on Arbitrum Experienced in product design, Web3 growth strategy, and user experience, J50 has demonstrated the ability to execute from concept to deployment across both Web2 and Web3 contexts.
MLabs has extensive experience working on Cardano developer tools and applications, including similar oracle-enhanced marketplaces. MLabs has a proven track record of contributing to leading dApps in Cardano ecosystem as well as core maintenance itself through our various CIPs, R&D projects, and so on.
Together, this team combines market-tested product expertise with Cardano-native engineering execution. J50 will drive the continued evolution of game logic, UX flows, and emerging-market user engagement. MLabs will implement the smart contracts, oracle integration, and NFT logic required to anchor the experience on-chain. Both teams have strong internal delivery processes, experience managing scoped milestones, and a shared commitment to transparency and accountability. The scope of the project, while ground-breaking and exciting, is clearly within our ability to technically deliver with limited delivery and timeline risk.

**In the interest of full transparency, please note we have applied a conservative USD/ADA exchange rate in pricing this proposal. This is to ensure our operations remain stable regardless of market conditions. Although we firmly believe the future of Cardano is bright, we recognize the price of ADA and all cryptocurrencies is inherently volatile. Our financial obligations are denominated in fiat. Most importantly, this includes the salary of our engineers whose hard work makes projects like this possible.
In the unlikely scenario of severe negative price movement beyond our forecasted rate, it is possible that MLabs may need to temporarily suspend work on this proposal until the market recovers. Rest assured, this decision would be made solely to protect our business's long-term viability and never taken lightly.
We appreciate your understanding and support, and we are excited to see what we can achieve together.
How does the cost of the project represent value for the Cardano ecosystem?
