Who you’re targeting, how you’ll reach them, and why this matters for Cardano?
We target Francophone communities across Africa and beyond: students, developers, and grassroots builders, often excluded due to the language barrier.
We’ll reach them through educational videos (YouTube, TikTok), articles (Medium, blogs), and engagement on platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, and X.
This matters for Cardano because breaking the language barrier fosters inclusion, drives global adoption, and empowers diverse contributors to join and build within the ecosystem.
Provide a list of key activities of your project:
Key Activity 1: Editorial, technical preparation and project coordination
Key Activity 2: Production of the first batch of content
Key Activity 3: Production of the second batch of content
Key Activity 4: Finalization of content and launch of the #CardanoFrancophone campaign
Key Activity 5: Collection of user feedback, production of final report and closing video
What are your success metrics?
Success will be measured by the creation of 150 contents (YouTube videos, TikTok/Facebook videos, Medium articles, blog posts, X threads), audience growth (+30% followers), high engagement (views, shares, comments), and positive feedback from francophone users. We aim to strengthen the presence and participation of French-speaking communities in the Cardano ecosystem.
Please describe your proposed solution and how it addresses the problem
Cardano is one of the most technically advanced blockchains, built on a rigorous, academic, and sustainable approach to decentralized finance, community governance, and smart contracts.
Despite this technological richness, the Cardano ecosystem suffers from a striking linguistic imbalance: almost all educational, technical, and informational content is available only in English. This creates a major barrier to access for French-speaking communities, particularly in Africa and other non-English-speaking regions.
Yet, the Francophone world represents a vast and rapidly growing population base. According to the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), more than 321 million people spoke French in 2023, and this number is expected to reach around 715 million by 2050, with nearly 85% living in sub-Saharan Africa. This is not only a linguistic issue but also a global socio-economic opportunity.
Among the 88 member states and governments of the Francophonie, more than 30 have French as an official or widely used language. Many of them combine high population figures, a predominantly young demographic, and a strong interest in technological innovation. Here are a few key examples:
Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC): With more than 102 million inhabitants in 2024 (World Bank), the DRC is the most populous French-speaking country in the world, with a median age of just 16.8 years (UN), demonstrating massive potential for future-oriented technologies like blockchain.
Ivory Coast: Around 28 million inhabitants, nearly 60% under the age of 25 (National Institute of Statistics of Côte d’Ivoire).
Cameroon: 28 million inhabitants in 2024 (World Bank), with about 70% of the population being French-speaking and over 62% under the age of 25 (UNICEF Cameroon).
Senegal: 18 million inhabitants, 75% under the age of 35, with a national digital inclusion policy (World Bank).
Burkina Faso: 23 million inhabitants, 46% under the age of 15 (UNICEF).
Benin: 13 million inhabitants, with internet penetration steadily increasing (over 45% in 2024, Data Reportal).
Madagascar: About 30 million inhabitants, with French as an official language alongside Malagasy (World Bank).
Niger: 28 million inhabitants, with one of the highest population growth rates in the world (World Bank).
In addition, countries such as Togo, Guinea, Mali, Chad, Rwanda, the Comoros, Gabon, Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, and many others form a vibrant, dynamic Francophone mosaic that remains largely disconnected from opportunities offered by blockchains like Cardano.
Africa already counts over 570 million mobile users (GSMA Mobile Economy Report 2024), proving that the basic infrastructure exists to adopt blockchain technologies, provided that the content is understandable and localized.
Unfortunately, Francophone participation in the Cardano ecosystem remains marginal. This is not due to a lack of interest or skills, but to the absence of accessible, understandable, and contextually relevant French-language content.
This linguistic gap deprives millions of young people, entrepreneurs, and developers of the tools, training, and opportunities Cardano offers.
Concrete manifestations of the lack of French-language content on Cardano:
This shortage of resources in French is evident across several key areas of the Cardano educational and community ecosystem:
YouTube: Fewer than 10 active French-speaking channels regularly produce quality Cardano content. By comparison, there are hundreds of English-speaking channels covering various aspects of Cardano, from tutorials to in-depth analyses. A search for “Cardano” in French vs English on YouTube reveals a stark difference.
TikTok: Cardano-related hashtags (#Cardano, #ADA) are dominated by English-language content, often focused on speculation, with very few educational videos in French. The small number of French-language videos on Cardano tend to lack pedagogical depth.
Articles and blogs (Medium, LinkedIn, Francophone blogs): French-language articles on Cardano are scarce. A Medium search filtered by French shows few publications compared to the abundance of English articles. On LinkedIn, French-language posts are limited and receive little traction in Francophone African professional circles.
X (formerly Twitter): French-speaking accounts posting about Cardano are marginalized. Searches on X reveal few active Francophone influencers, many of whom simply share translations of official announcements without offering original, in-depth analysis.
This linguistic and educational divide not only slows the adoption of Cardano technologies in Francophone countries but also hinders active participation in blockchain innovation, community governance, and decentralized application development. Without accessible, contextualized, and high-quality content in French, the immense human potential of the Francophonie will remain largely underutilized within the Cardano ecosystem.
Solution
To address this educational and linguistic gap, our solution is to produce, publish, and promote a coherent set of educational resources about the Cardano blockchain in French, accessible to all segments of the population and delivered in various formats.
We will create 60 dynamic, simplified videos distributed on TikTok and Facebook, designed to reach a broad audience with clear, engaging messages about Cardano.
We will also produce 30 structured educational videos on YouTube, organized into thematic mini-series to deepen both technical and community knowledge.
In addition, we will publish 60 in-depth articles on Medium, LinkedIn, and various French-language blogs, covering technical, economic, cultural, and community topics related to Cardano.
All these resources will be systematically shared on X (formerly Twitter), accompanied by attractive visuals, explanatory threads, and calls to interaction to boost engagement and reach.
Approach
This project’s approach is based on four key pillars:
Accessible pedagogy – Using clear language, examples adapted to the local Francophone context, and visual aids designed to reach both beginners and advanced users.
Varied formats – Offering short videos (TikTok, Facebook), long-form and detailed videos (YouTube), as well as written articles, to meet all learning preferences and profiles.
Strategic distribution – Publishing content regularly and in sync across major social platforms used by Francophone youth and professionals, to maximize reach and engagement.
Targeted topics – Addressing the most relevant technical and social themes of the Cardano ecosystem, such as: Introduction to the Cardano blockchain, how ADA works and how to purchase it, staking on Cardano and its reward mechanisms, smart contracts with Plutus and Marlowe, what a dApp is with case studies like Minswap and SundaeSwap, NFTs on Cardano including creative uses, African projects, and opportunities, the role of Catalyst in funding Cardano projects, decentralized governance with Voltaire, real-world use cases of Cardano in Africa (digital identity, traceability, education), Cardano events and opportunities for community participation, testimonials from active members of the Cardano ecosystem, the French translation and publication of Intersect MBO’s weekly email, and many other relevant topics...
Please define the positive impact your project will have on the wider Cardano community
Our solution offers a tangible and measurable expansion of the Cardano ecosystem within the Francophone world, delivering concrete and lasting results:
Direct integration of ADA as a lever for engagement and value creation: ADA will be used to reward quality content creators, encourage active contributions within the community, and support innovative promotional campaigns (contests, quizzes, educational challenges), thereby fostering a dynamic environment of incentives and recognition.
Acceleration of Cardano adoption among Francophones: By simplifying and contextualizing complex concepts, our approach facilitates access to information and encourages more Francophone users to embrace the ecosystem, whether through opening and using Cardano wallets (such as Eternl or Lace), thoughtful ADA investment, or interaction with decentralized applications (dApps).
Targeted training for new users, entrepreneurs, and developers: Beyond young users, the project places particular emphasis on Francophone entrepreneurs and developers, equipping them with the knowledge needed to understand Cardano’s technical functioning and how this technology can create real added value in their activities. This deep understanding will enable them to design, develop, and launch their own projects on Cardano, contributing to the diversification and growth of use cases within the ecosystem.
Consolidation and expansion of the Cardano community in Francophone Africa: This approach generates new adoption, promotion, and advocacy channels, while stimulating participation in Catalyst projects. It thereby helps strengthen the resilience and diversity of the Cardano ecosystem on a global scale.
In summary, this initiative aims to create a virtuous cycle: more engaged users, multiplication of concrete use cases, increased circulation of ADA within the real economy, and a significant, sustainable expansion of the Cardano blockchain across the Francophone space, notably driven by a new generation of innovative Francophone entrepreneurs and developers.
