I woke up this morning and the first news I read: Hacker compromised Furucombo's proxy smart contract: $14 million stolen.
News like this don't give smart contracts the best rep and this is definitely not the first time. The potential risks involved with smart contracts are still preventing a lot of people from taking advantage of this amazing piece of technology.
What if though, before deploying a smart contract, I could get it checked by a professional (or perhaps even a group of professionals).
I believe in starting simple and growing on a solid foundation by learning from experiences and iterating as I go along. Initially I plan to use existing platforms to build a heavily manual tool. From that the goal is to automate the process.
Roadmap:
Phase 1 (first 1-2 months after funding):
- build a platform for people to submit their smart contracts for checking
- recruit a team of smart contract experts that will manually check smart contracts and point out any issues to the submitter
- build an open source tool that automates the checking process
Phase 2 (2-3 months after funding):
- test automated smart contract checker (human professional still double checking)
- improve the tool
- create a dapp that implements the tool
