Dataset - Token / CNFT Analytics

Open-source code repository for generating an analytics dataset from a mixture of on chain db-sync data as well as external data sources

Problem Summary

There is a lot of excitement around the Cardano NFT space recently, however currently NFT data is embedded in json metadata stored on the cardano blockchain. Additionally, due to the lack of accepted standards, the data is disparate and hard to query / gain insights from.

Our Solution

Our plan is to build an open-source analytics-ready dataset of Cardano NFT data which provides the community with data about the NFT space.

Data Sources:

• Cardano DB-Sync
• CNFT.io PolicyID github repository
• Cardano Foundation Token Registry

More sources may be added in the data discovery phase

Possible Metrics / Dimensions to include could be:

Metrics

• Token mints / burns
• Token Transfers
• Token counts
• Purchase Amounts (as can be gleaned from on-chain data)

Dimensions

• PolicyIDs
• NFT Projects
• Token Names
• Attributes / Rarities
• Image urls

The aim will be to enable someone to answer such questions as:

• How well did a given project perform over time?
• What projects were most successful?
• What projects see the most after-market activity?
• What projects are seeing the most fraud / copies
• How many tokens are there in the Cardano ecosystem
• Which tokens see the most activity

Deliverables

The output of this project would be an open-source Github repository containing data integration scripts and SQL Queries as well as associated schema documentation.

SQL scripts would be separated between DB-Sync only scripts, and extended scripts which require external data sources to be integrated so that developers who are already running DBSync can get maximum value without implementing the data integration components.

Additionally, if the Cardano Data Hub idea (https://cardano.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Cardano-Analytics-Data-Hub/368258-48088) gets funded, this dataset will be integrated as one of the available datasets there.

Project Plan and Budget

The project will have 5 components:

Data Discovery - $1,200

• detailed data review and profiling of existing data sources
• investigation into additional possible data sources
• Discussions with community on requests / requirements

Data Modelling - $1,575

• Modelling datasets based on available data and community input
• Continued discussions with community for feedback

Data Integration - $2,400

• Creating data integration scripts to ingest external datasets

SQL Development - $3,000

• Develop SQL views to aggregate and implement modelled data

Documentation - $1,200

• Provide schema and user documentation for consumers and implementers of the data

Budgets are based on a $75/h USD hourly rate. No funds are being requested for infrastructure costs or development tools.

Expected completion date would be 6-8 weeks after funding is received.

• Led the development team of a boutique data / analytics firm where I designed and architected cloud based data warehouse solutions for fortune 500 companies
• Member of the Cardano community since 2017
• Co-Founder of Cardano Canucks stake pool and Canuckz NFTs
• Co-Founder of CCSPA (Canadian Cardano Stake Pool Association)

Vivek Nankissoor

• 15+ years of experience in database requirements, design and development
• Established and grew web analytics, marketing automation and QA practices
• Engaged in marketing, data and analytics strategy development with enterprise retail, cpg organizations, banks, automotive, pharma, fintech and others
