Nature Coin: Climate Change DAO

Nature Coin's mission is to create an international community backed by sufficient financial capital to eliminate climate change. We'll provide substantial value to the Cardano community by bringing new users into the ecosystem who are foreign to crypto, but passionate about the environment.

Nature Coin acts as a governance token for an environmental DAO. The community will control a treasury that's used to invest in environmental projects, for example a climate tech startup or a solar energy farm. The treasury for the Nature Coin community will be funded via several means:

1. Inflation. Similar to how Project Catalyst is funded in Cardano, Nature Coin will have a 1% annual influx of new tokens that goes directly to the treasury for the community to control. 

1. Ecosystem services. Nature Coin will have several utilities, such an NFT marketplace which requires Nature Coin to buy/sell art, or a video game which requires Nature Coin to play the game. This will create inherent demand for the token, causing the price to rise and thus providing the community with additional purchasing power. We would also charge a small fee to users interacting with these services, providing further funding for the treasury. 

1. Return on investments. In return for funding projects, the community will receive either equity or cashflow in projects that are for-profit. For example, let's say the Nature Coin community pays a renewable energy company $1,000,000 to build a solar farm that generates profits of $200,000 per year. Each year those profits would be used to purchase Nature Coin tokens and send them to the Hive's treasury. This would enable the community to re-invest in new projects. Another example could be the community deciding to invest in an early-stage climate tech startup in return for equity. If that startup goes on to IPO for billions of dollars, all of that capital would be returned to the treasury whenever the Nature Coin treasury decides to sell their shares. You can imagine how much funding this would provide to the DAO.

Previous software engineer at Instagram, turned entrepreneur (launched an ecotourism company, Morii Tours) with years of self-taught research in the cryptography space (including MIT & Princeton courses, etc.). College valedictorian, this project fuses his leadership experience with his passion for cryptography and the environment.

Shannon Brown

Mechanical engineer by trade and technology enthusiast at heart. Launched a college robotics club and led growth to 100+ members. Built several apps and websites including an e-commerce venture. Her first robotics project was a recycle sorter and she chose her university largely based on its proximity to mountains. She lives in the intersection between tech and the environment, aiming to preserve the nature she loves exploring.

# ROADMAP

3 months - launch the Nature Coin token.

6 months - launch the first utility project for Nature Coin, an NFT marketplace where Nature Coin is required to buy or sell artwork. This will create inherent demand for the token, resulting in a higher token price.

12 months - we're aiming to have enough capital in the Nature Coin treasury to build the Hive, which will act like Project Catalyst for the environment. This will enable the Nature Coin community to begin investing in environmental projects and receive returns on those investments, which will further grow the Nature Coin ecosystem in a gargantuan positive feedback loop.
