There has been early adoption of Cardano in Japan from the start but participation in Catalyst is relatively low

An active Japanese Catalyst community operating in Japanese and connecting with other parts of the ecosystem

Why is this challenge important?

There has been an interest in Cardano in Japan from the start and the country has had a progressive stance towards blockchain technology. This makes Japan a likely country to adopt solutions built on top of Cardano. There are already some active community members and SPO's but participation in Catalyst is still relatively low. 

Recently an Eastern Town Hall was started by community members and participation in the Japanese breakout room has been among the highest consistently. In the fund 6 challenges there are several proposals coming from the Japanese community as well. With the current momentum a challenge in fund 7 would likely see good participation and can solidify the community.

At the moment most of Ideascale & Catalyst operates in english. This creates a barrier for all non-english communities. If solutions from this challenge prove successful in bridging that gap, they can function as an example for other communities.

Challenge Brief

The goal of this challenge is to find ways to further engage the Japanese community and to help create ways for the Japanese and English speaking community to connect. Proposers are encouraged to propose in Japanese and the Challenge team will help promote the CA role in the Eastern Town hall or equivalent event.

The budget is set to 50k because the Challenge focuses only on a specific part of the community. There are also projects from Japan which have a broad application and will fit in other challenges. Considering the focus is on community building the budget should be enough to support 2-6 meaningful efforts.

Possible directions:

-Translating key documentation

-Creating educational content about Cardano & Catalyst in Japanese

-Organising interpreters for Catalyst events

-Organising workshops for new members, CA's, SPO's, proposers

-Setting up community hubs

Challenge Team

The Challenge team consists of two active members from the Japanese community and one member from the general community. Among them there is experience with proposing & facilitating. The challenge team members have previously helped with the organising both Eastern Town Hall (Japan Breakout) and After Town Hall sessions

日本人のカタリスト参加は重要であり、どうやって日本人のカタリスト参加率を向上させるかは、大きな課題です。

カルダノは日本から開始され、多くのアーリーアダプター（プレセールホルダー）が存在しますが、そのADA保有率に比べて、カタリスト参加率が低いのが現状です。

成功目標

このため、「日本語による」積極的な日本のカタリスト関連のコミュニティへの働きかけを実施し、日本と他国のコミュニティ間の交流を活発化します。

主な達成目標

日本人のカタリスト系イベントへの積極的な参加（タウンホールミーティング、Ideascale　など）

カタリストイベントにおける日本語―英語のコミュニケーションの通訳者

日本語で記述された提案に対する正しい評価の数（評価者からの交流）

なぜ、これが重要か？

日本では当初からカルダノに関心があり、ブロックチェーン技術に対する進歩的な姿勢も示してきました。このため、日本はカルダノのが提供する様々なソリューション（Dapps, Defi, Eco-System）を採用する可能性は高いといえます。すでに精力的な活動をするコミュニティメンバーとSPOは存在しますがいますが、Catalystへの参加はホルダー数に比べてまだまだ少ないです。

最近開始された、東半球タウンホールミーティングにおいて、日本ルーム（ブレイクアウトルーム）の参加人数は、ミーティングにおいて最大級の一つであり、日本人の活発な参加がみられます。Fund6においても、日本のコミュニティからの提案は、いくつもあり、増加傾向です。このままいけば、Fund7では、さらに活発な提案が実施され、コミュニティの継続的なカタリスト提案への参加が期待できます。

しかし、Ideascaleおよびカタリストの大半は、英語での操作やコミュニケーションが必要です。翻訳機能もありますが、この言語の壁は、非英語圏の人の参入障壁となってしまっています。もし、このチャレンジが、この言語の壁を解消することができるなら、日本語以外の言語圏とのコミュニティと英語コミュニティとの連携の良い例となるでしょう。

Challenge Brief

この課題のゴールとして、

日本コミュニティのさらなるカタリストへの参加、活発化を促し、日本語と英語という異なる言語のコミュニティが、言語の壁を越えてつながる提案を支援することです。提案者が提案を日本語で記述することを奨励し、チャレンジチームは東部タウンホールまたは同等のイベントでのアドバイザーの役割を強化し、日本人が抵抗なくカタリストに参加することを促進します。

チャレンジ予算は$50000として設定します。少なく見えるとは思いますが、一つのコミュニティに集中するためです。幅広い用途があり、日本からも日本人の提案を支援するプロジェクトもあります。今回の提案では、コミュニティの構築に焦点を当てており、予算は2〜6個くらいの効果的な提案をサポートするには十分な予算と考えています。

Challenge Team

我々のチームでは、公式チームからのメンバーと、日本コミュニティ出身の活動的なメンバー（Issa, ranket）を加えて、チャレンジを推進します。彼らは、提案経験とコミュニティのプロモ―ティング経験を有しています。そして、チャレンジメンバーは、すでにカタリスト東半球タウンホールミーティングにおける日本ブレイクアウトルームの開催および開催後の議論のサポートを開始しています。

チャールズ氏も海外コミュニティも、日本人のカタリスト参加はカルダノ発展に重要であると考えています。
