Voter tool translations - AIM

Translate and make available the voter-tool into 6 languages including Spanish, Japanese, French, Russian, Chinese & Portuguese.

AIM members are the team behind the voter-tool, CA-tool, vCA-Tool and the Community Landing Page. Developers, designers and data experts.

Offering tools in English is important and currently considered the international language. However, in order to increase accessibility and inclusiveness we are looking to offer the voter-tool https://cardanocataly.st/voter-tool/#/ translated into various languages.

With this proposal are proposing to the tools data into Spanish, Japanese, French, Russian, Chinese & Portuguese as we feel these will cover a good portion of the Cardano Community. We will look to add additional languages in the future.

Process

We will use an auto translator to convert the bulk of the translation task. To achieve this we will run automated translation tool (https://www.deepl.com/pro) for each of the six languages. 

Further, in order to support the Catalyst community and ensure quality translations we will engage human translators to undertake the translation of the app into the various languages. We will find community members translators to fill these roles.

From this we will have the voter-tool fully translated into the six languages and the content presented in each native language.

Timeline

Upon funding we have the translations done and implemented for Fund 7 governance phase.

Over the coming months and year we hope to be able to continue the translation of each future fund to be included in the voter-tool. As well as expand the translations to include more languages.

Team

Cardano AIM (Assembly Inspiring Masses) is currently made up Lucio, Victor and Phil and a number of supporters. We are all active Catalyst Community members and currently design and build tools that support the community. Auditability

We will track the number of users from each language group using the voter-tool and make the usage numbers available to the community.

The translations will be available in to the Github repo as an open source content so that they can be used by other projects.

Budget

Calculated on six languages.

Auto Translation: ~$200 per language (depending on actual characters in final Fund proposal submissions)

Human Translation of App: $200 per language

Scripts: $250

Project admin and management: $1000

Total: $3650
