Influencing Policy for Adoption

Organize 2 high profile events in 2 African countries to show Cardano use and adoption benefits & onboard policy makers to local Cardano hub

• Wada: Skilled Cardano community practitioners and entrepreneurs, located in hubs across Africa & Diaspora
• Cardano Foundation LCCs

Main Deliverable:

• Educate and onboard 100 policy makers and government officials in Ghana and Democratic Republic Of Congo (DRC) to facilitate local Cardano/Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) knowledge and use case adoption.

• Unfavorable government policies hamper blockchain adoption at the grassroot level. Creating a favorable blockchain policy climate ensures thriving local Cardano Community hubs

How will this campaign add value to our ecosystem?

• The 'Scam' narrative in many African countries has lead to wholesale bans of cryptocurrencies and blockchain due to limited understanding of DLT usage and value.
• Ensuring that Cardano adoption is driven at the ground level without fear of government reprisals, will empower people to change their lives, create ownership and expand Cardano market

Reference & Past Successes:

• DRC and Ghana teams have connections to high level government and academic policy influencers

• 8 unique-country Africa and diaspora hubs with expanding teams ensures local macro-level awareness, sensitivity and shared learnings. 2 of these will host these high profile events
• A membership platform in development for onboarding, interaction and virtual training sessions
• Mentors and experts willing to support both the goals of WADA and Cardano

Roadmap:

Launch Date: Q2 2022

1-3 months Post Project Approval

• Identify local collaborators, official guest list and speakers for each event

4-6 months:

• Organize One in person event each in Ghana and DRC aimed at high level government and academic officials

6months -1 year

• Onboard to WADA membership platform and engage attendees in local hubs and Cardano ecosystem as appropriate

Risk Management:

• Ongoing local Covid 19 protocols could be an issue with in person events. This will be closely monitored for event date modification as necessary
• Follow-up of event attendees will be prioritized to ensure event gains don't dissipate over time

What success looks like:

• Policy makers have a more favorable view of Cardano as an example of positive DLT use and Local Community hubs are able to offer the average person participation in their own language and with their own cultural understanding

• No. of new users of Cardano measured by Yoroi or Daedalus download
• No of event attendees

• Follow-up questions and engagement from event attendees
• Number of attendees onboarded into Wada/Cardano membership platform
• Number of policies influenced within one year of project launch.
• Number of experts in regulation, lawyers and other members involved
