Custom manufacturing services are expensive. Peer-to-peer manufacturing platforms currently do not exist. We need better Cardano full nodes.
Create new economic opportunity by deploying open p2p marketplace (Uber of 3D printing) to enable monetization of 3d designs and print jobs.
This is the total amount allocated to Uber of 3D Printing Manufacturing.
Adosia's decentralized fulfillment network is essentially composed of numerous smart contracts, including contracts for the marketplace, the printing pool, quality assurance, NFT role minting, 3d printer and shipping and receiving.
The smart contract associated with the 3D printable NFT marketplace will house user-submitted 3D printable NFTs which contain one or more .stl files along with any designer royalties referenced in the NFT metadata. The user will interact with the marketplace smart contract, selecting all the NFTs they would like to have printed, which will then create a new "purchase order" NFT capable of traversing the decentralized Adosia 3D printer operator network. Once a user holds a purchase order NFT, upon paying an appropriate fee, they will be able to initiate a print job for that NFT with the Adosia network. Upon successful print job completion the printer operator fulfilling the print job will be paid the majority of Ada with the appropriate 3D designer(s) being paid designated royalties. The Adosia smart contract will also earn a small fee for the Adosia treasury, with all participants being incentivized early on with Adosia ADO tokens.
Current Implementation & The Road to the MVP
The goal of the MVP is to provide the basic infrastructure to show the world that decentralized manufacturing is possible and will soon be a reality. All on-chain functionality will be provided by the printing pool, purchase order, and printer registration contracts. These contracts will allow a customer to get a purchase order and have a registered printer accept the job for printing. The printer registration process has already started with the Adosia ambassador program.
The market contract will be replaced with Buffy Bot for the initial product release. This will ensure that the printers will be able to print appropriate purchase orders as we walk everyone through the system. This project is a huge undertaking and needs to be approached in small manageable chunks.
What To Expect
Users will be able to buy an NFT of a purchase order that will allow them to choose to print one of our special designs via a registered space printer. The printer will then ship the 3D object to the user who will receive the object and confirm its quality. At this point, the purchase order will be returned to the user and the printer will be paid ADA for their services. It is a simple product but it shows what is technically possible now. Blockchain and the tangible world will mesh together and this is just a stepping stone along that path.
High-level end-to-end experience.
Future Implementation
The Full Experience
The future of decentralized manufacturing with the space printer ecosystem involves many contracts interacting with each other in very complex ways. This will be a fully encompassing ecosystem that will allow designers to produce 3D printable objects, printers to create and ship products, and it will allow the everyday user to get any 3D printable item shipped directly to their door by a local printer in a decentralized manner.
What Is Missing
The ecosystem will include a complete social ranking system similar to eBay's buyer and seller ranking. This will allow new buyers to select known and trusted printers to complete their job and will provide printers with the means to avoid potential bad customer interactions. The ranking system will be stored inside another smart contract such that users of the system can not simply send their negative ranking to some other user. Whenever a printer or a customer does something positive, like complete a shipment or participate in a quality assurance event, they will be issued a positivity token. Conversely, there exists a negativity token that is issued for negative actions.

Adosia will bring a wide variety of new users via enabling exciting new peer-to-peer applications on Cardano. We will also enable a new cardano-node node option for everyday Cardano participants which doesn't require utilizing personal desktop or laptop resources like Daedalus does.
Important metrics are number of active printer operators, number or 3D printable designs in the smart contract, number of users and monthly orders.
This project is well under development and will be completed regardless of receipt of Catalyst funding. Funding will certainly help ensure a rapid time to market and quick turn to operational sustaining revenue.
One of the most significant challenges will be establishing and coordinating a solid initial base of decentralized 3D printer operators capable of effectively participating in the fulfillment network, as well as determining and testing shipping logistics
We will also need to align treasury governance and expenditures to compensate decentralized participants in the future via incentives for serving the protocol (aiding in dispute resolution, software development, decentralized operational infrastructure, etc). Some of the hardest challenges for the future will be self-governance and the real-world-to-blockchain-bridge. There are many aspects of smart contracts that have never been integrated into the real world as they will be with the space printer. In a single system, a user will be able to design, sell, print, and ship. This is a fully on-chain and decentralized approach to manufacturing, using the newest technology available today in a way no one has ever seen.
We also need to define and align the creation of two separate new CIPs / new metadata standards for purchase order NFTs and printer / hardware device registration NFTs.
The first major step we need to take is to learn as much as we can about decentralized fulfillment and to enable the NFT market. We will accomplish this by conducting an initial NFT sale of 3D printable spacecoins rockets. Users will have the ability to choose to print their 3D rocket NFT which would then be fulfilled (manufactured and shipped) by an Adosia network printer operator. The spacecoins rocket NFTs will consist of 8 individual parts and a handful of color schemes. We will perform this sale through Buffy Bot in a manner that enables a market for other parties to follow with their own 3D printable NFT drops which could also leverage the Adosia printer network. This will feed direct Ada revenue into the Adosia printer operator network while providing the team with critical lessons for integrating fulfillment properly into the Adosia network.
The next phase will implement simple 2D image (or existing NFT conversion) into a 3D printable lithophane format. This will enable any user to contract a printer to manufacture an awesome representation of their favorite 2D NFT or image.
The final phase will implement the full marketplace. The marketpace will enable designers to list their designs along with any corresponding royalties to be imposed upon each print and monetize their designs. The marketplace will also enable users to create custom NFTs based on designs listed which may be manufactured on-demand at a later date by whomever holds an applicable purchase order NFT.
Adosia has been cultivating a team of participating 3D printer operators supported by a robust Adosia ambassador program.
SpacePrinter
SpacePrinter is a dapp designed to run on a RaspBerry Pi 0w v2 which are $15 dollars or less. (https://www.raspberrypi.com/products/raspberry-pi-zero-2-w/)
SpacePrinter will run a small firmware that will present a web interface for configuration. Configuration includes setting up the printer wallet address which uses the Cardano Serialization Library to perform wallet creation, and enables secure signing on devices in the printer operator web browser, registration of the printer with the Adosia smart contracts, and selection of print jobs.
SpacePrinter will connect to a printer operator's 3D printer utilizing a USB cable which will give the 3D printer access to the Adosia 3D Printer smart contract marketplace.
There will be two (2) options for SpacePrinter to pull data from the Cardano blockchain.
#1 - a small API for SpacePrinter we can self host when a user creates an account they will gain access to the API. This is the more centralized solution but it will allow users to just plug in the Raspberry pi 0w v2 with Space Printer firmware on it connect to WiFi and go. And also not have to worry about buying hardware to run Cardano Box or to even having to sync the Cardano blockchain.
#2 - if the printer operator wants to put together a Cardano Box or purchase a Cardano Box from Adosia, there will be an option for space printer to use Cardano Box to do access the Cardano Blockchain and Adosia smart contracts.
The Cardano Box is the underlying application and the brains of Cardano OS. Cardano OS is a Linux Distribution based on openSuse Linux and is already preloaded with software to help you interact and traverse the Cardano Blockchain. The idea for Cardano Box/OS is to give users a simple Linux distribution which comes with a web interface to access the Cardano blockchain.
Cardano Box/OS will allow you to easily launch your own Cardano Nodes to access the Cardano blockchain locally from your home or business using a Web UI. It will have its own wallet called Cardano Box Wallet, which will allow the user to visually create and tailor their own transactions.
It will allow users to create their own Policies and min their own FT and NFT assets from a single user interface. Cardano Box also comes preloaded with tools like the Cardano-Submit-Api a user can enable which allows for all major wallets like CCVault, Nami and Flint to submit transactions helping with processing times during highly congested periods.
