This Proposal is a direct Collaboration between Strica, VacuumLabs, Ledger & the Cardano Ambassadors Guild. Due to this collaboration we gather high quality experience and expertise in Blockchain development

As mentioned above, this proposal aims to unlock phase #2 of the Ledger Live integration and to provide easy access to ADA staking within Ledger Live application.

Ledger, Strica, Vacuum Labs and Cardano ambassadors will also conduct a join study on how to potentially implement:

• Full Cardano Native token support on Ledger Live (not limited to a shortlist)
• Cardano Dapp browser on Ledger Live (to allow Dapps to be accessible through Ledger Live Discover section)

As this proposal is all about the integrations of products, the presented proposals here fits greatly into the dApps, products and Integrations Challenge.

Ledger Live is a well-known global product for blockchain communities and ecosystems, a further integration to the Cardano Blockchain opens new entry doors for us as Cardano Ecosystem, and Ledger users benefit greatly from improved and implemented services & functionalities

This proposal drives as well to a collaborative continuation between Ledger & the Cardano Community via participating in project Catalyst. Our goal is to explore & establish long term relations between the Cardano ecosystem and blockchain enterprises like Ledger. A sustainable and healthy relationship is highly beneficial for both Ledger and Cardano. It also greatly facilitates the Cardano Blockchain user adoption.

This Proposal will unlock additional features for Ada holders using the Ledger device and improve and increase greatly the interaction of Ada holders with the Cardano Ecosystem.

This proposal also unlocks new ways for Cardano Developers to engage in building new applications & platforms on the Ledger device

[IMPACT] What are the main risks that could prevent you from delivering the project successfully and please explain how you will mitigate each risk?

The main risk we have to face has been discovered in the implementation of the Ledger Live integration #1. The development had to face technical challenges and risks, and we had several times the risks to not deliver in the proposed timeline as the roll-out became far more complex than initially expected.

To mitigate this risk, and to learn from our mistakes, we extend the milestones and the roadmap of this proposal over a longer time frame.

We also want to take a safe approach by conducting a feasibility study before kickstarting any development related to both:

• Full Cardano Native Assets support
• Cardano Dapp browser

Q3 2022

Continuing further improvements of the Ledger Live integration in collaboration with ledger, Strica & the Cardano Ambassadors Guild. Kickstart the technical and product specification phase regarding staking in Ledger Live.

Q4 2022

-Implementing Staking functionality to Ledger Live applications

-Conducting a research and development work in order to identify solutions to be able to list Cardano Native Assets

-Conducting a research and development work in order to identify solutions to be able to implement a Cardano Dapp browser in Ledger Live application

Deliverables at the end of phase 2

- (New feature) - ADA staking on Ledger Live on both mobile and desktop

- (Research output) - Clear actions and specifications on how to support an extensive list of Cardano native assets (not limited to a short list as in phase 1)

- (Research output): Clear actions and specifications on Cardano Dapp Browser on Ledger live.

Strica has a deep understanding of the Cardano protocol and has been actively providing critical feedback and bug reports to the cardano github repos. Ledger Team

The Ledger team will provide technical and product experts to make sure this project gets integrated on time and with a high level of quality.

Specifically for this phase 2, Ledger Firmware and Security teams will take a deep look into how to make token support not limited to a shortlist but instead generic to all Cardano tokens.

Members of the Cardano Ambassadors Guild will continue to support the successful implementation of the Ledger Live integration #2 and provides constant consulting and advice. The Ambassadors keep constant communication to the involved parties and ensure that everybody has what they need to succeed.

Felix is a highly engaged Catalyst Community member and Ambassador and helps this project to align & collaborate with the Cardano & Catalyst Community and the Catalyst process.

Gean has been part of the Cardano Community since 2017 and has deep knowledge about Cardano. He is a SPO (Stake Pool Operator), Ambassador and Community Manager

[AUDITABILITY] What does success for this project look like?

Success of this proposal would be a successfully implemented staking functionality to Ledger Live and a healthy & growing collaboration between Ledger & the Cardano Community and Project Catalyst.

Success will also be determined by the ability to assess the feasibility of both full token support and Cardano Dapp browser in Ledger Live. 

Ledger users will greatly benefit from improved integrations, and Cardano can count on strong support & relationship to the Ledger Team.

This Proposal is a direct continuation of the Ledger - Live Integration Proposal from Project Catalyst Fund 7. This proposal has been successfully implemented, as millions of users can prove. However, next steps are required to drive this collaboration & development forward

In June 2022, Cardano was the third most installed application on Ledger Hardware wallet (right after Bitcoin and Ethereum). It also showed the strongest growth in terms of number of accounts synchronised on Ledger Live.

This demonstrates the impact of the first phase of the integration on the Ledger and Cardano user bases.
