Stretching from the Atlantic shores of Mauritania in the west, to Egypt's Suez Canal, Northern Africa includes Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Sudan. The countries of North Africa share a large amount of ethnic, cultural and linguistic identity, for instance they all have Arabic as the main spoken language. The current population of the region is 255 million based on the latest 2022 United Nations estimates.
Unfortunately, no dedicated community hub is targeting those population in their native languages.
We propose to set up a community hub in Arabic and French to help onboard North Africans. Bi-weekly meeting with educational content will help inform about Cardano Platform and Catalyst projects.
We propose also to translate introductory educational material to Arabic and organize events about Cardano and Blockchain.
Our proposal targets the main problem of this challenge. We believe that what impedes Africa from becoming a leader in Cardano adoption rather than a perennial follower is technology scepticism and language barriers. We aim to tackle both barriers with proposal by evangelizing Cardano in the Arabic and French languages.
The main risk is lack of funding to support the team operations. Second is difficulty to recruit new members.
Those risks were took in consideration during the ideation phase. For the first, we demanded a small budget to enhance our chances to be funded and will convert funds to a stable coin to mitigate the risk for loss of value.
Secondly, We are already members of different Cardano Communities (Catalyst Africa Town Hall and a WhatsApp group for Middle East and North Africa Cardano enthusiasts) where we requested feedback and tested the opinions of the members.
Starting on september 2022, we will conduct bi-weekly meetings and educational workshops in Arabic and French. We aim also to translate introductory materials to Arabic.
