I'm Sebastian, full Cardano enthusiast since early 2018. I wanted to be more than an enthusiast and be able to contribute something to our community. In early 2019 I became a Cardano Ambassador and started to provide Spanish translations, which I continue doing and are posted in the Cardano Forum. Between some other things, I also contributed to the Spanish Version of the Yoroi wallet. 

But I still wanted to do more, so in 2019 I created the "Cardano in Spanish" Youtube Channel and I just started to translate, dub and publish Spanish Cardano videos from the official sources. More than five years later, it already has +1.900 published videos +900k total views, +10k subscribers, and counting. 

The solution to the stated problem is to simply continue with the work already being done since + 5 years, which is the transcription + dubbing + editing + publishing of Cardano related videos in Spanish language through the "Cardano Castellano" Youtube Channel. Most of this work has been done only at my expense since I was only granted in Fund 7 (with +8% over performance, see link of Fund 7 closing report for that). 

This project is already providing the Hispanic community relevant educational materials with the latest news, Charles whiteboards videos, IOG Cardano 360 episodes, Cardano Foundation videos, etc. There are also others published videos from several different sources, like interviews provided by Charles, twitter spaces, and Cardano related projects.

[IMPACT] Please define the positive impact your project will have on the wider Cardano community

The Hispanic community consists of around 460 million people worldwide, Spanish is spoken in +20 countries, located in more than just one continent, with very different cultures. The Hispanic Cardano community is the second in size, yet no official Spanish content is published by any of the founding entities. 

Positive Impact:

• Spanish Video content of Cardano is already and will continue generating a stronger and more resilient overall Cardano community.
• Spanish Content is and will continue onboarding many new members through the coming years.
• Content is considered as a "library", available for the current and future Cardano Hispanic community members to consume. This can be measured in years, perhaps even decades.

This is a constant, non stop and long term endeavor that already began + 5 years ago. 

• A stronger Hispanic Cardano community means a stronger overall Cardano community.
• This project fills a major void which is the absence of official Cardano content in spanish.
• This project already has several long term supporters who have been watching these videos for several years. (we can also see that through the comments section)

Being a Cardano enthusiast since + 6 years, being a Cardano Ambassador since + 5 years, being contributing both with translations and transcriptions non stop for + 5 years demonstrates full commitment with the project ensuring its feasibility 

• Relevant experience :

+ 1.9k already published videos in the "Cardano Castellano" Youtube channel

+ 2.7 million transcripted words

+ 290 hours of content already published 

+ 10k Subscribers, + 900k Total Views, + 75k Total Watch time (hours)

• Fund 7 Awarded for the "Cardano in Spanish" proposal (with +8% over performance, see link of Fund 7 closing report)

• Cardano Ambassador since 2019. Community translator of official content for IOG, CF, Emurgo, etc, also for the Spanish version of the Yoroi wallet. I don't have exact numbers but I estimate +1 Million translated words. 

• All transcriptions and translations are published in the Cardano Forum, free to anyone to check.

Challenges / Risks / Risk Mitigation:

The project mainly consists in a series of quite straight forward, repetitive, but time consuming tasks:

Transcription, dub, edit, publish. Repeat, transcription, dub, edit, publish. Repeat, transcription, dub, edit, publish…

So not great obstacles in that respect.

So far the following things were detected as potential risks:

1. Proposal consist of only one person
2. Potential Youtube censorship / shadow banning 

Risk mitigation:

1. A: Project should need a consistent and reliable source of income as per being able to scale the team, add more translators / voices. B: Several years ago, (perhaps even in Fund 2), I suggested the capability of receiving funds only after milestones are achieved, thus almost assuring its feasibility. I never heard about that anymore.
2. Youtube algorithm doesn't seem to be very crypto friendly. This may also have even deeper roots as with the Wikipedia case. I wouldn't be surprised if we come to know that crypto related channels are under some sort of "shadow banning".

For that reason, all Youtube videos are "mirrored" in the Odysee platform (@cardanocastellano) with +1k followers. I'm open to exploring additional platforms where videos can be published.

Overall, the strategy is to continue working as hard as always.

I have been doing this alone since + 5 years ago. All tasks: transcription, dubbing, edition, publishing, are being done just by me.

Answer:

• Budget is based on Oct 1st 2024 Ada price: $0.40

• Budget is based on 40k transcripted and published words per month, during a six month period. Any published quantity above that will not increase the requested budget. As mentioned above, Fund 7 grant for this project ended in an +8% over performance.

• Budget per word is $0.02 (this includes transcription, dubbing, editing, publishing)

Price ponderation per task calculated in percentage as estimated for its difficulty and time consumption. Between brackets you can see the price per word: 

• Transcription: 35% ($0.007)
• Dubbing: 35% ($0.007)
• Editing: 15% ($0.003)
• Publishing: 15% ($0.003)
• Total price per word: $0.02

How many videos per month does this represent?

It is difficult to say since original video lengths vary quite a lot. A whiteboard video from Charles could consist of +60 min, and maybe some other video consists of only a couple of minutes. Nevertheless the goal is to be as close as possible to publishing content every day.

How many minutes of video per month does this represent?

Roughly original videos have a pace of 140 words per minute, this means that around 300 minutes (+4.5hs) of Spanish content will be published per month.

How many views will this get?

Again, difficult to say. From our side, (when I say "our" I mean the community as a whole since it is helping a lot by also sharing and spreading this content), we do everything we can. Content is shared in Youtube, Odysee, all videos are also shared through the @CardanoenCast Twitter account that already has +2k subscribers, also through several Hispanic Telegrams Groups, and everything is also shared through the Cardano Forum. Steadily we are witnessing how the Hispanic Cardano Community is growing, but there are several factors that make it quite difficult to forecast a number of views.

Auditability:

All published video materials can be checked through the Youtube and Odysee channels. Each video has its respective transcription published in the Cardano Forum.

[VALUE FOR MONEY] How does the cost of the project represent value for money for the Cardano ecosystem?

The Hispanic community is huge, with around 460 million people worldwide in +20 countries, growing and thriving fast. 

These video assets play a major role educating and bringing awareness of the Cardano project to the second biggest Cardano community. A lot of new projects and great new ideas are coming from this community. 

The Cardano ecosystem consists of a lot of very knowledgeable people whose contributions are worth the effort to be available in its Spanish version, for the Hispanic community. 

What the proposal offers is way cheaper in comparison with what the market is charging just for translations, (please note that producing a transcription is a much harder work), also adding voice over, editing, etc, all at the same low budget. The Cardano Community is receiving a much bigger impact in comparison with the value being requested.
