Onboarding Dubai's Expat Coders to Cardano

Problem

Dubai's large community of expat coders is an untapped resource for Cardano. Without targeted training and support, their potential to build on the ecosystem is lost.

Solution

We will provide targeted onboarding for Dubai's expat developers through coding workshops and creating a local support network to help them start building on Cardano.

About this idea

Team

Our project will be delivered by a focused core team whose skills directly align with the key activities of developer education and community management. We have streamlined our team to ensure maximum efficiency and impact for the 60,000 ADA budget.

Core Project Team

Tadesse D. – Lead Technical Educator & Mentor

Samuel Birhanu – Project Lead & Community Manager

  • Role: Samuel will provide overall project direction, manage the budget, and ensure milestones are met. Critically, he will also lead the establishment and daily management of the online support network (Telegram/Discord) and will be the primary point of contact for building local partnerships in Dubai.
  • Github: https://github.com/sami-bre
  • Experience: Proven project management skills from prior Catalyst and commercial projects, with direct experience in community building.

Solomon – Curriculum & Content Lead

  • Role: Solomon will be responsible for structuring the overall curriculum and developing all open-source educational materials, including presentation slides, tutorials, and documentation. He will ensure the content is of high academic quality and accessible to developers new to Cardano.
  • Linkedin profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/solomonmuche
  • Experience: Extensive background in research and content creation for previously funded Catalyst proposals.

Strategy for Local Execution in Dubai

Our strategy is a hybrid model designed to de-risk the project and maximize the budget's impact:

  • Virtual-First Workshops: The initial workshops will be conducted virtually. This allows us to build a core community and refine our curriculum based on real feedback without the immediate high cost of international travel and venue hire.
  • Local Partnership Goal: A key task for the Project Lead in Milestone 1 will be to secure a partnership with a Dubai-based tech hub or developers. The goal is for this partner to co-host a final, in-person workshop, providing a local venue and promotional support. This makes our in-person goal realistic and collaborative.

All core team members are fully briefed and have confirmed their commitment to this project. We have a direct line of communication established and are prepared to begin work immediately upon funding approval.
