Web-of-Trust Digital Identity

Indigenous communities struggle to retain their culture. Digital Identity can strengthen collective identity and economic wellbeing.

Community members have the tools needed to educate, help and onboard others in their community to set up digital identities easily.

To assess the ROI of this challenge we will ask ourselves: Did we get engagement with indigenous and grass-roots communities and were they issuing members digital identity credentials by the end of the fund time horizon?

• How many proposals directly engage with indigenous communities and organisations?
• What number of useful training resources and guides are developed for different communities in their language?
• What was the number of integrations with indigenous organisation membership systems?
• Did any Tribal, NGOs or Charities start issuing or relying on the created credentials?
• How many new and novel use-cases for indigenous digital identity were developed.
• Was there a sense of community and conversations on how to improve the economic identity of indigenous communities with Cardano?
• Where any credential standards developed that captured the needs of a particular group such as tribal membership.
• Where any trust-frameworks (governance protocols) developed for particular member organisations.

Making it easier for grass-roots membership organisations and indigenous groups to onboard members and help them create a digital identity that is under their control will lead to increased adoption of Cardano-based DApps and be the basis for developing an economic identity for these NGOs, social organisations and indigenous cultures.
Giving community members the tools needed to educate, help and onboard others in their community to set up digital identities easily. Individuals are able to get a Cardano (Atala Prism) based digital identity set-up and initial non-government credentials verified, such as belonging to a savings group, being a member of a tribe.

Charities, Governments agencies, employers or tribes can easily establish and produce individual claims and issue them to individuals.

Indigenous organisations in particular such as tribal trusts and companies are able to integrate with Cardano's DiD based framework and enable better communication with their members.

What would such a toolkit be if incorporated Self-Sovereign Identity perspectives?
