Around $500M of investment has entered the insects as food & feed vertical the past 3 years, but the sector remains fragmented and true product sustainability is unverifiable, while companies and institutions remain opaque.

Our goal is to demonstrate a transparent, sustainable circular economy built around insects, from waste inputs through farming to feed to fork, by creating a digitally traceable supply chain system for all insect related products.

This includes traceability from beginning to end including:

• waste inputs (more than 33% of the planet's food is wasted and left to rot; insects can upcycle this waste into valuable protein, lipids, chitosan, and fertilizer)
• insect production (measurable sustainability data built on rapidly growing systems of LPWAN networks, IIoT, AI, and blockchain tech to verify usage of energy, water, feed inputs, GHGe, and more)
• feed conversion rates in downstream livestock production (insects as animal feed for aquaculture, poultry, and pork)
• farm to fork consumer product tracking (both insect-based products and traditional proteins such as fish and chicken fed on insects)
• fertilizer impact on organic fruit & vegetable production (along with farm to fork consumer tracking for plant-based products)
• lipid and chitosan extraction for clean beauty cosmetics and biodegradable materials

Building on Cardano allows for an open, truly decentralized platform with a focus on the developing world, where the bulk of insect production still resides. Our platform will connect consumers, brands, and farmers in real time, removing the need for trust in institutions by transparent verification of the entire process.

Every input, every aspect of the insect and its downstream use life-cycle, every step in the supply chain all provide real-time, traceable, immutable data:

Insects are also much more than just a buzzworthy new food trend - they're the ideal sustainable solution for many industries, including:

• animal feed, especially replacing unsustainable fishmeal (aquaculture) and soymeal (poultry, pet food)
• pet food (healthier and more sustainable natural ingredient for dogs, cats, reptiles, and more)
• biodegradable materials (extracting chitosan from insects for plastics is far more sustainable than extraction from shrimp)
• cosmetics (insect oil, in particular soldier grub oil, contains essential omega fatty acids and the highest content of lauric acid after coconut oil)
• alternative protein for human consumption (eco-friendly, highly nutritious, actually delicious)
