About this idea

Problem Description

In developing countries, as those in Latin America and Africa, fiat currencies are weak and represent a loss of the population's purchasing power, as the monetary policy of Local Governments isn't able to contain inflation.

In this scenario, Latin Americans want not only to invest in cryptocurrencies, but also to use them on a daily basis and explore all forms of profitability, such as obtaining loans and earning interest on their savings, that is, through decentralized finance.

However, DeFi's content is predominantly in English, which creates an impediment and an insecurity for those who do not speak that language to expose themselves to this market.

A survey carried out by the British Council in 2013, in partnership with the Data Popular Research Institute, found that only 5% of the Brazilian population speaks English - and only 1% of these people are fluent.

Solution Description

The proposed course will cover everything from blockchain basics, going through the fundamentals of decentralized finance to the practical use of the main DeFi protocols in the Cardano ecosystem.

It will be produced in Portuguese, which is the official language of Brazil, a country that has about 50% of the South American population. However, support will be offered to Spanish-speaking brothers for translation.

In addition to the classes on Youtube, the content will be made available in text in gitbook format on the project's website.

Discord will be used as the main interaction tool, where meetings will also take place to consolidate content and clarify doubts after each class.

September Report In the last month, we continued the research process, course material development, and community support by hosting Twitter Spaces sessions on DeFi, as well as creating videos about the functioning, testnet, and developmental protocols on the network. We followed the launch of new markets on the Liqwid protocol, USDC and USDT tokens from the Wanchain bridge, we also informed the community and celebrated the reduction of the minimum mint limits of the DJED protocol, which were reduced to 200 DJED and 200 SHEN, making the protocol much more accessible to the audience of our course. Furthermore, we continue to test protocols on testnet and we are attentive to other protocols that need to be launched so that we can produce content about them, as approved by the community in the proposal we submitted.

July Report In the last month, we continued the research process, course material development, and community support by hosting Twitter Spaces sessions on DeFi, as well as creating videos about the functioning, testnet, and developmental protocols on the network. We highlighted discussions about the DJED and iUSD price, stablecoins that have been trading above $1. In fact, we had a discussion on the Muesliswap forum with proposals on how to improve this situation. We concluded that a DEX with concentrated liquidity and proper incentives for liquidity providers can capture liquidity and address this challenge. We mentioned Ax Trade and Genius Yield as potential solutions. As part of our course preparation, we tested the Lenfi, Cherrylend, and Yamfore protocols on the testnet. We are also keeping an eye on the upcoming launch of Spectrum Finance on July 27, which is one of the protocols within the scope of our course. Additionally, we are attentive to other protocols that need to be launched so that we can produce content about them, as approved by the community in the proposal we submitted.

We have produced various video content about Cardano Defi dapps, not as part of the course but as part of our lesson preparation program. It is a fact that it is necessary to wait for the maturation of these recent protocols. Liqwid has launched the Agora governance protocol on the mainnet. Implemented the release of February and March airdrops, as well as staking on the platform. We also participate in the testnet AnetaBTC (ergo), Meld, VyFinance, TeddySwap, Encoins and Spectrum Finance in our content preparation program. The protocols that have already been released have been audited, but in a real environment of use, they need some validation time, before the community has more peace of mind to assume a greater risk of use. We are accompanying this process, producing theoretical material and video-essays on these projects. In our class program there are also other protocols like Spectrum Finance (Cardano - Ergo atomic exchange), Genius Yield (artificial intelligence) and we would also like to work on Axo (dex without the AMM model, which promises the end of impermanent loss). As we explained earlier, our course will be a short course (25 hours), a practical intensive so that the public does not disperse between the launches and maturation of the protocols. But in the meantime, we are producing content in the form of essays, to inform the community and introduce the forms of Defi currently present in Cardano.

This month we are very happy for Cardano to have an expressive growth of TVL in DeFi protocols, according to DeFILama it broke the previous maximum of March/2022, Cardano is now the top 18 with $141.73m or 378m of ADAs, without considering protocols currently in stake as Meld, Genius, AnetaBTC and others. We produced various video content about Cardano's Defi dapps, not as part of the course, but as part of our lesson preparation program. It is a fact that it is necessary to wait for the maturation of these recent protocols. As an advance, we had DJED reduce the minimum investment threshold to 1,000 dollars, which is still a very high value for our target audience, but shows that it is on the right path for greater adoption. Liqwid launched the Agora governance protocol on the testnet. This month we have been following with great ecstasy the launches of the DJED, Liqwid and stableswap protocols by Wingriders. Which doubled our TVL in dollars, according to DeFiLama statistics. We produced various video content about these projects, not within the scope of the course, but within our class preparation program. It is a fact that it is necessary to wait for the maturation of these recent protocols: DJED launched the protocol supporting only 1 portfolio, and with a minimum investment limit of 5,000 dollars, which is very far from the ability of the majority of the defi school public to participate. The protocol even took a few hours off the air to correct problems in its interface, and the first distribution of rewards to SHEN holders has not yet been made, so that we can produce content about the operationalization of this. Liqwid released version 1 of its protocol, with only 2 forms of income, out of the 6 that are part of the scope of the project. Important functions like LQ staking along with NFT Aquafarmers, along with interface improvements and bug fixes come on version 2, previewed to be released at the end of February. The protocol also had a bug, which allowed hackers to drain the protocol's funds, which led to it being down for more than 48 hours, while, along with Vaccumlabs auditors, the team fixed the problem, until then we await an article" post mortem" with the detail, but apparently there was no loss of background. The protocols were audited, but in a real environment of use, they need some validation time, before the community has more peace of mind to assume a greater risk for utilization. We are accompanying this process, while producing theoretical material and video essays on these projects. In our class program there are also other protocols, such as Spectrum Finance (atomic swap Cardano - Ergo), Genius Yield (artificial intelligence) and we would also like to work on Axo (dex without the AMM model, which promises the end of impermanent loss). We continue studying and scripting the DeFi protocols chosen in the course program. This month we continue with participation in testnets and production of text material, including corrections in the article DJED Protocol Security, where we include a new simulation scenario and demonstrate in numbers that DJED will not lose collateralization even with a 75% drop in price ADA (worst case) or even with a drop of 87.5% (best case). We look forward to the launch of the DJED, Liqwid, Axo, Genius Yield, Spectrum Finance protocols, among others, which are present in our program of practical courses.

Summary

This month we continued the process of preparing the course and engaging in the testnets of the defi protocols. Indigo, the synthetic asset protocol, conducted a public testnet and launched its mainnet platform. We participated in this process and prepared some videos that are the basis of the material we will produce in the course. Liqwid Finance also started its testnet, we are participating in it, and using the project documentation, to raise aspects of the protocol and format the course in a didactic and practical way. Other protocols, such as Spectrum Finance, continue to have an active testnet, and we are participating, collecting protocol information and evaluating aspects such as impermanent loss, liquidity, farm and real profitability. We also had confirmation that DJED will be launched in January/2023, it is another protocol that we will cover in the course. Another relevant information is that Ardana, a project that we would address in the course, announced the interruption of its development, so we immediately removed it from the course program.

Summary

This month we participated in Spectrum Finance's (Ex-ErgoDex) private testnet, providing important bug feedback, based on the knowledge we have gathered throughout the course preparation process. We also explored the AlgoFI protocol on the Algorand blockchain, to better understand how the incentive to stake stablecoins works: real profitability, loyalty profitability, risks, rewards withdrawal dynamics, in order to understand how stablecoins play a relevant role in the trading environment. loans within Defi. Following the development progress of the protocols that we will cover in the course, we can comment that Liqwid is making great strides in its private testnet in the preview testnet environment, and will soon open the public testnet in the pre-production environment. Also, DJED announced that the audit is expected to end in the month of November. We are ready to support these projects, while training ourselves to teach the course, using other blockchains and Cardano's testnet protocols.

In the previous report we inform you that we contacted the Genius protocols and indigo to have access to testnet of these projects earlier, unfortunately we did not receive permission from early participation, but they opened door to business partnerships. Therefore, we will really have to wait for the public testnet of these projects and others that are in our detailed scope in the approved original proposal. If confirming the success hard fork Vasil expected to occur today (09/22), and the vasil functionality is available on 9/27, the forecast of the main protocols defi that we will address in the course, currently: - Djed: 4 to 12 weeks after Vasil (between 27/10 and 27/12); - Indigo: November/2022; - Liqwid: Not announced; - Genius: Not announced; - Ardana: Not announced. As we await the public testnet of these protocols, we continue to study the Cardano ecosystem and other ecosystems that already have the decentralized finances in full operation, as a way to we prepare technically to take the 25h practical course.
