Detroit + Wada Diaspora Hub

Detroit is a world city and Michigan is a world state. The success of both produced an economic output that changed the direction of mankind. The force of creativity, engineering, and social relevant contributions is astonishing.  Arguably, the Detroit Metropolitan area can be talked about amongst the top cities in the world according to it's impact on modern life.

Where would the world be if Henry Ford had not created the assembly line and made automobiles affordable?

Detroit also was the birthplace of the labor movement which brought greater accountability to organizations and their responsibility to their workers.

Michigan helped mold a young Thomas Edison who brought electric light to the world.

Detroit helped shape the careers of some of the greatest artists of our time

Although there's a lot to be proud of, the wounds of the past still haunt the great city of Detroit. The race riots of 1967 left an indelible mark on the consciousness of Detroit Metropolitan area. . The shielding off of certain groups from participating in the wealth of the city, corruption and mismanagement from city leaders, the hollowing out of Detroit's manufacturing sector through trade agreements and automation have devastated the once great city.

The spirit of the city is still gradient although the city is still seeking it's long awaited revival. Brilliant minds are still in Detroit. The creatives are there, the engineers are there, the protectors of social solidarity are there as well. At some level Detroit is ground zero for social reconciliation in the US and across the world.

Wada is bringing it's vision of economy, culture, and technology to Detroit, Michigan. As the city continues it's search for identity that truly reflects the brilliance of its people, Wada believes DLT and other emerging technologies can be the connective tissue that helps to resolve old harms while charting a path vision for the future.

Wada is proposing the first diaspora hub in Detroit, Michigan. There's likely know better place to start this journey of reconciliation and reconnection. The hope is that the Detroit Wada hub will interface with the greater Wada network bringing more diverse opportunities for Metro Detroiters while exporting Detroit art, culture, and engineering to the African continent and diaspora.

Initiatives for Fund 7 Ask:

• Credentialed DIDs - Each new person in the network will be access resources through a DI
• Draft Detroit Wada charter
• Support art and cultural projects in Detroit (CNFTs) - Compile standards and onboard new projects
• Crypto buy back guns scheme - With local police department and local businesses
• Monthly in-person planning meetings (Leona Hicks Library)
• Bi weekly Virtual Meetings
• Software engineering training - Plutus, Marlowe, Prism, etc.
• Cultural exchange with other Wada hubs
• DAO structure for community funding (Wyoming DAO)

Roadmap:

Month 1: Hub registration, Charter (Wyoming DAO and other documents to file)

Month 2: Establish in-person and virtual meeting schedules with (Leona Hicks library and cultural hub)

Month 3: Establish Digital ID and credentialing scheme

Month 4: Set up marketing and outreach campaigns

Month 6: Establish DAO structure for community funding

Month 7: Start onboarding and publishing NFTs from qualified artists

Month 10: Crypto buy back guns scheme

Month 13: Programming classes for local and virtual students (Haskell, Plutus, Marlowe, Prism, etc.)

Month 18: Cultural exchange with other Wada hubs
