Growing Cardano in Ethiopia

Building a Multimedia platform which will bridge a cultural understanding/awareness of Cardano in Ethiopia.

An established media platform that highlights Ethiopian tech, start-ups/entrepreneurship, economic policy, and investment opportunities.

Overview:

There is immense potential for Cardano to grow in Ethiopia, as it is an unpenetrated market of 110 million people, with 75% under the age of 30 years old and the increasingly widespread availability and use of technology and internet connection throughout the country. This presents an opportunity for the Cardano ecosystem to be adopted by this large and previously unattainable market. 

However, there is a lack of awareness of and participation in blockchain technology such as Cardano due to cultural and social barriers. Spotlight Ethio aims to solve this problem by using media to 1) create awareness and 2) enable participation through the development of local community hubs to encourage developers and new users to take part.

Through Spotlight Ethio, we have established a community of over 5,000 Ethiopian youth from technical and non-technical backgrounds who are united in their interest in advancement through technology, entrepreneurship and novel systems such as blockchain. 

The key metrics will be accomplished by increasing the awareness of Cardano and participation in Catalyst among Ethiopians through our media platform. Our communication outlets include: social media, blog posts, bi-weekly newsletters, monthly online magazine, and weekly podcast episodes and monthly interviews. This initiative is the first of its kind in the country, as there is no other multimedia platform in Ethiopia that intersects Cardano and widespread media content delivery.

Definition of success after:

3 months - Release 3 online magazine issues, 6 newsletters, 12 podcast episodes, 3 interviews with participants of the Cardano community and entrepreneurs. Expand the online community through all social media platforms to 10,000 followers and bring awareness of Cardano through all communication channels (magazine, newsletter, podcast, interviews, etc.). 

6 months - Develop an online Cardano Community Hub in Ethiopia through the Spotlight Ethio platform and attract participants in the latest Catalyst Fund. Release 6 online magazine issues, 12 newsletters, 24 podcast episodes, 6 interviews with participants of the Cardano community and entrepreneurs. Expand the online community through all social media platforms to 20,000 followers.

12 months - Expand the online Cardano Community Hub in Ethiopia and attract participation the latest Catalyst Fund. Release 12 online magazine issues, 24 newsletters, 48 podcast episodes, 12 interviews with participants of the Cardano community and entrepreneurs. Expand the online community through all social media platforms to 40,000 followers.

Article writer: 40 USD/hour x 1 hours x 4 articles/week x 52 weeks = 8,320 USD

Podcast equipment = 500 USD

Video Editor: 50 USD/hour x 3 hours x 6 Youtube videos/month x 12 months = 10,800 USD

Biweekly Newsletter Summary Writer: 40 USD/hour x 3 hours x 2 articles/bi-weekly x 26 weeks = 6,240 USD

Monthly Online Magazine: 40 USD/hour x 4 hours/month x 12 months = 1,920 USD

Social Media Marketing Campaign = 200 USD/month x 12 months = 2,400 USD

Operational cost (interview meetings) = 200 USD/month x 12 months = 2,400 USD

Misc (stationery, equipment replacement cost, additional marketing materials, etc.) = 100 USD/month x 12 months = 1,200 USD
