ADAView - Simplifying Cardano

[IMPACT]

ADAView is designed to be user friendly and provide a more familiar user interface that mimics more of an online banking experience on top of Cardano.  This includes the merger of UTXO based transactions with Rewards based transactions, while also providing a contextual layer that shows only the relative information from the perspective of a wallet. For example a withdrawal from an exchange often includes dozens, if not hundreds of destination addresses, but for most users this is just noise, and all they care about is the addresses belonging to their wallet.

We are also looking at adding the ability for users to see in plain language events that are associated with transactions. For example a stake registration, or stake delegation event will be displayed next to a transaction and will clearly indicate any associated actions.  This will help new users understand how the network behaves and how events are triggered through transactions.

ADAView belongs in the Miscellaneous Challenge because it is meant to be more of a generic tool to assist adoption and onboarding of new users to the Cardano space, rather than new Catalyst members as described in the "New Member Onboarding Challenge"

and allow them to track their accounts without requiring wallet software in near real time.

We will be communicating our project once we have left our beta stage through our social media accounts, as well as through the CCSPA, and other online cardano communities. Since our tool will be free to use, we will be looking for other projects that will promote our tool as well and make use of it during their promotions.

We will also be publishing our API's which will allow for additional project to benefit from our contextualized integration layer if they desire to do so.

The main challenges and risks involved with this project are the time constraints of our team.  We are well underway, and we are dedicated to making sure this project is a success for ourselves and our local community; However finding the time to efficiently implement all of our design features is a challenget, with the risk of not being able to implement all of the desired features.  The funding will allow us to invest in additional resources where required to meet the demands as they arise, and to assist in automation of some manual processes in place.  Our main mitigation strategy is to ensure that our releases are well defined and that we have manageable workloads associated with each release.  We are allowing upto 3 months between releases initially with the goal of being much more agile in the future.

[FEASIBILITY]

Our developement was initiated in December of 2021, and our first beta release is live right now  -- https://beta.adaview.live.  we will be planning on two more beta releases over the next couple of months, each targetting a new set of data to integrate with wallet viewer.  Our plan is to have the live Release in late Spring of 2022 with all of the basic functionality in place, and then to continue development with additional releases quarterly based on the feedback we receive and new events and happenings on the cardano network.  For specific details please see the attached roadmap.

Initial infrastructure costs have been taken care with the purchase of 3 bare metal servers, one load balancer and 2 load balanced nodes, along with business grade networking infrastructure at a cost of about 2000$.  Will be purchasing production servers before we go live at an expected cost of 1500$.

The current development costs are mainly the time that we are investing in the project and currently are not be renumerated for our development costs.  The funding will be used for renumerating development going forward at a rate of 50$ per hour, and allow us to reach out and receive specialized resources where needed and to renumerate those resources appropriately.  This will allow us to have approximately 150 hours of paid development costs over the next couple of months to achieve our goals.

Lead backend developer responsible for the API and integration layer using dbsync and cardano-node.  20 years of experience operating realtime transaction processing systems in regulatory frameworks, and operator of the CanadaStakes (CAN1) stake pool.

Lead UI developer responsible for the overall design and structure of the ADAView wallet viewer built independently, but in coordination of the API's being developed. 20 years experience with client focused User Interface and User Experience design.

Support UI developer responsible for specific UI components and data elements being displayed within the framework.  10 years experience with Analytics and Visualization designs.

[AUDITABILITY]

We are using a discord server for main communication between developers, along with github repository where we manage our feature branches, pull requests, and all of our issues are tracked and processed through github.   We will be producing quarterly updates with new features inspired by community and cardano ecosystems as a whole.

We will be having our roadmap on the adaview site and we will be updating the roadmap as we progress and use it to track features that are implemented and will be coming in the future.

Success of this project will be for a widely used wallet viewer that allows for an easy introduction to the cardano network and the cardano paradims to new users, while also providing a useful tool for experienced users to be able to gain a better understanding of what is happening with their accounts and wallets.

This is an entirely new proposal, we will be looking potentially at future funding to provide new features and enhancements to the project as we move forward.
