People experiencing homelessness are stereotyped, stigmatized, and face uphill battles gaining stable housing; while Cardano needs streaming content that matches the empathy and love of its community.
We'll make an engaging Cardano-based reality tv show, that humanizes and encourages the contestants as they dig deep to complete challenges. The pilot episode is in Chicago, and will expand worldwide.
This is the total amount allocated to Be Love ❤️.
Our project is unique in pairing philanthropic efforts and entertainment within the Cardano sphere. So I don’t think there’s anything like this on Cardano that combines entertainment with helping those in need. While other chains do feature tv shows, such as with Bored Ape, our project would stand apart in its ability to elevate a community in need in addition to providing entertainment and indeed leverage its entertainment potential for the welfare of said population. Additionally, this team’s appreciation for the good nature of the Cardano Community contributes to our belief that this project would be an exceptional fit
Additional opportunities our project could feature include educational elements in which both the viewership and contestants encounter information about Cardano, blockchain etc. allowing for a multipronged impact on awareness and understanding. Furthermore there are numerous possibilities for integration, from the contestants joining the community, being awarded via wallets, using Cardano tech when and wherever possible.
We developed the idea with our creative partner Darren who spent 15+ years working on Survivor in a variety of producer roles. We developed the concept from early 2021 to November of 2021 and I set it down when I got into Hosky 😂
Stakeholders!
CARDANO
It’s going on youtube first, the stakeholders will be people that voted with their ADA for the pilot to be made. From there we want to reach people outside of Cardano that are interested in changing the world. If they like the content, then they might also like Cardano.
HOUSELESS CONTESTANTS
Other stakeholders would be the homeless community, because if I’m casting people in the show, then I will follow through with what is promised to them.
GUEST CONTESTANTS
Some of these contestants will be local to the city we are filming in, others may be members or builders in the Cardano community. If the show's audience grows in size then we can have big name members of the crypto community as guests on the show as well as people outside of crypto.
SUPPORT COMMUNITY
Mentors
Therapists
Pilot Outline
2 teams compete against each other in challenges that are a cross between amazing race, survivor, and minute to win it. The first half of the episode will take place in downtown Chicago where they will scramble to complete challenges for points. The second half of the episode will take place in warehouse set up with physically and mentally demanding challenges. One team will win, but both people experiencing homelessness will win the prize of six months of paid housing, mental health services, job placement help, and a mentorship program.
From the moment we receive the money we will begin casting contestants and the host, hiring crew, and reconfirming locations who have agreed to let us film on their property. We will come up with backup locations and a plan b for as many elements as possible. We've begun previsualization work on the show, which will continue for another few weeks. Once preproduction is completed we will lock the warehouse we will be begin constructing the challenges, and once complete we will make all the necessary reservations and schedule the shoot days. We'll shoot over two days and then edit the video and upload it to social media and market it.
Output will be a 24-30 minute video of the pilot episode
We hope to generate a lot of buzz for the cause, the show, and the Cardano community and blockchain. If it takes off we will up the stakes and introduce higher concept elements with each successive episode
We're building our project under a new category called social entrepreneurship. This will allow us to increase the visibility of Cardano to audiences outside of crypto. It will allow us to elevate the reputation of Catalyst as a force for good, as well as forge new paths of high-concept entertainment built on Cardano.
Potential ideas to incorporate during challenges on the show
Locations
We will be shooting the pilot in downtown Chicago. I've spoken with businesses already and have secured the location agreements. Situations and schedules do change, so whenever possible we will secure a duplicate location so for example if we have a bookstore, we will try to find another bookstore nearby that will also allow us to film. If one of them has to break the agreement we will have alternatives ready.
Contestants
People experiencing houselessness may be on illicit drugs or have an alcohol dependency. This is a risk for the contestants' being able to work with the shooting schedule, to behave on set, as well as to handle the pressure of being on camera. Because of this we are working with the homeless advocates to find people who are in need, but they believe can handle the demands of the project.
Housing
We're working with advocates in Chicago that already help people find housing and they have connections to landlords who will allow us to rent apartments to people who are currently homeless. So to make sure we can deliver on the housing we are going to put together the lease ahead of time before we film the show and after the contestants are cast. This way we can focus on making great content and there's no risk of not delivering.
1 month in we will lock the visual and audio style of the show. We will give updates on social media to market the project along each step.
2 months in we will have the materials purchased and the cast and crew hired. More social media blitzes.
3 months in we will lock the locations and have the shoot dates set. Cast and Crew video updates.
3.5 months in we will wrap shooting, and begin editing. Upload teaser behind the scenes video/photos. We will market the release date with paid ads, and push it around the community in discords and twitter spaces.
4.5 months in we will lock the episode, upload it, and host a watch party with the cardano community.
I (John) also known as Be Love to the community; studied film producing at Tribeca Flashpoint College. During the summer I interned on a reality tv show. After film school I immediately went back to college and earned a bachelors in business management. I worked as a production assistant on music videos, commercials, and as Key PA on a tv movie. I worked as a location assistant on Transformers: Age of Extinction. I worked as a post-production assistant on The Dangerous Book for Boys and Cobra Kai. I worked as an assistant director on over 15 short films, and two feature films. I've produced short films, music videos, commercials, and corporate videos.
My creative partner Jordan has been making movies even longer since he started while he was in high school. He has a degree in Cinematography and is an amazing editor.
Paul (Homeless advocate): Is a retired social security worker and has connections to the city of Chicago government as well as all services available to the homeless community. Paul will also help secure the housing leases.
Jon (Homeless advocate): Ensuring the interests of the unhoused are best served and liaising between said community and the shows production.
If the episode is very well received and has a positive effect on Cardano’s image, then we may seek further funding in another round. The goal is to generate revenue from the stakepool to fund the show, we are looking at selling NFTs to fund the show as well.
If it is positively received, we may be able to fund future episodes just from stakepool delegations and NFT sales.
We want to make the show interactive and engaging for the Cardano community as well as the broader crypto community and general public.
The first measure is if we are able to get the contestants off the streets and after their lease is up that they are able to maintain a job and stable housing on their own.
The other is community and public response to the episode. We want the community energized and excited about Cardano and its possibilities to change the lives of people suffering the most.
As far as metrics go, we will measure it by youtube subscribers, video views, and total watch hours of the channel.
Participants and their community will experience greater visibility and support.
Viewers will have an increased connection, understanding, and awareness of the unhoused community and the challenges they face and overcome.
This is a new proposal.
Jordan and I have degrees in Film and Business, we have almost 30 years combined experience in film and media. Paul and John are lifetime Homeless advocates.
